Excellent hotel in a great location!

Posted 2-Jul-2015
Pros: The location is great, the hotel was very clean and the room was well kept.
Cons: The hotel needs a little updating but they're in the process of renovating.
Location: Near Shelter Island. Plenty of restaurants nearby.
My family of 5 (2 adults & 3 children) stayed for 2 nights on June 19th to attend a nearby wedding. The bride and groom stayed at a nearby hotel right on Shelter Island which was a little pricier so I wasn't expecting much for the price we paid when we arrived at our hotel. To my surprise, the hotel was extremely clean and the beds were very comfortable. We will definitely stay here again.

Great location! That's it!

Posted 1-Jun-2015
Pros: Location to airport, bay, and restaurants.
Cons: Cleanliness, staff, update the entire facility.
Location: There are some nice restaurants to visit, it is right across from the bay, close to the airport, and that is about it.
Great location along the bay and close to the airport. Not for vacation, but for business. Good staff. The hotel was dirty and old. the room was fairly clean, but stairwells, hallways, and around the outside of the hotel were not clean. The gift shop closed 3 minutes early and would not let me in and the guy was a bit of a tool about it. He slowly turned the sign around while watching me, knowing he was closing acouple of minutes early and I wanted in the gift shop. the front desk was okay, but the shuttle bus driver from the airport was excellent. would I stay there again. NEVER.

Dear traveller: Thank you for taking the time to post your review about your recent stay at the Holiday Inn Bayside. We appreciate feedback from our guests regardless of its nature. I am glad that you like our location but was disappointed about the rest. Failure to deliver our usual high standards of hospitality and cleanliness, which we promise to each and every guests, is unacceptable at any time. I have discussed your comments with our Housekeeping Manager as well as our Gift Shop Supervisor and your comments will be reviewed during the staff meeting. If I felt that your experience was typical, I would agree we do not warrant a return visit. We want to welcome you again to our hotel during a future visit to San Diego. Sincerely, Rhinna B Meyer - Rooms Division Manager.

A relaxing Stay

Posted 29-May-2015
Location: We spent a day in Balboa Park, Coronado Island, the San Diego Zoo and Point Loma. We had a wonderful time.
I was very surprised on how nice this hotel was. The entire hotel is so clean and staff very helpful and friendly. There was a very nice dinner/bar located next to the hotel. The food was very good and the service five star. We will be back!

Good Hotel for an Overnight Stay

Posted 28-May-2015
Pros: Hotel shuttle service was accommodating - Shuttle from airport and to port. Restaurant had good food and good service. Hotel Staff were very nice.
Cons: Update the rooms in the C Building. Deodoraize the rooms better. Easier access to the rooms for families with lots of luggage.
Location: A couple good eateries near by: Fish restaurant across the street and Pizza Nova just down the street. Also good location to airport and the SD port.
Our stay was rather short. We needed a place to stay overnight for a cruise the next day. The location was convenient and the hotel accommodated shuttle service to and from the hotel. The staff was pleasant and accommodating as well. The C Building was a little outdated with no elevators to get to the second floor. If there was, we missed it. The room had a bit of an odor that was a little bothersome. Construction on the main road was a little annoying as well. Other than that, the hotel was good. The onsite restaurant was good, especially if the kids eat free, and the hotel was in a fairly good spot for access to other restaurants in the vicinity.

Dear traveler: Thank you so much for taking the time to post your reveiw about your recent stay at the Holiday Inn Bayside. Please allow me to apologize for any inconvenience and discomfort you experienced while you were a guest due to not having an elevator to go up to your room. I also discussed your comment to the Housekeeping Manager so investigate about the odor you mentioned. Unfortunately since the construction is a Port of San Diego project, the hotel does not have a jurisdiction over it however we are continuing to work with the crew to make sure that it has very minimal impact to our guests. We hope your travels bring you back to San Diego in the near future. Sincerely, Rhinna B Meyer - Rooms Division Manager

Dear traveler: Thank you so much for expressing your concerns and comments about your recent stay at the Holiday Inn Bayside. As is indicative of the hospitality industry, rates vary depending on season and availability, especially if there is a large convention or events at the hotel and we are booked to capacity. Rates can be very competitive and individual hotels set their own tariffs. I am sorry you perceived our rate to be high, we try our very best to provide our guests and clients with the best available rate. We hope to see you again during a future visit to San Diego. Sincerely, Rhinna B Meyer - Rooms Division Manager

Nice Hotel

Posted 7-May-2015
Pros: Updated rooms, big flat screen TV's.
Cons: Continental breakfast would be a nice add-on.
Location: This hotel is not close to anything but the airport. Downtown, Gas Lamp District, ballpark, or the Midway and beaches are not walkable. Rent a car.
We stayed here for four nights. The whirlpool was out of order, and that was the fatal mistake for this hotel. They should have let us know and I would have made reservations elsewhere. They offered to take us to another location for a whirlpool, but really? Another location for a whirlpool is hardly what you want after being out all day. The public transportation around this hotel is sparse, so we rented a car for three days ($10.00 per night parking). The hotel staff is friendly, the restaurant somewhat expensive. I thought they had Continental Breakfast, but no such luck. The room was clean and updated, the grounds clean and neat. There is construction at the view of the Bay, so it could get a bit noisy and congested.

Who knew the Holiday Inn could be so nice

Posted 6-May-2015
We stayed here to catch an early morning flight. We usually stay at Hiltons, or Marriotts. This hotel was even better then my ussal choice. The bathroom was beautiful. The bed was very comfortable. The staff warm and welcoming, and then the free bus to the airport made this a great stay. We will stay here again when we come to San Diego.
