“Overall experience”

I found the hotel to be a very nice hotel overall including the mini golf and pool area as well as the Wi-Fi availability. I have stayed in many locations and rely on locals for information in how to get to particular locations, or best bus route etc. Two of the concierge staff fwere quite helpful, however what i found more than anything was the lack of willingness to go that extra mile and provide more information than i was asking. An example related to busing, after asking earlier in the day about local bus stops i found my way to my destination, after completing my day i expect to take the same bus back, when i found out that the bus stops running after 6:00pm and ended up walking 3 miles to the hotel to have the concierge tell me yes your right the bus stops at 6:00pm. This was a common theme throughout the trip, If i asked a question i could get a yes or no, but very very rarely got a yes, but not on weekends or not after 6:00pm or wait it is better if you do this instead, people generally were unwilling to provide additional/factual information. No continental breakfast was a downside, or a voucher for a free/complementary breakfast between certain times. No shuttle to downtown, rely on taxi or bus or rent a bike. Be prepared to fork out $40 for a two way trip to hotel to downtown.

“Excellent Stay”

We had a huge room overlooking the garden with balcony. It was excellent. The pickup from the airport (close) was prompt and friendly. Good parking for rental car near. Marina and boardwalk across the street. Good access to arterials.

“Down by the bay in San Diego”

I booked a week in advance of using hotel. The photos of the hotel showed some nice shots of the Holiday Inn Bayside. However, when we arrived I could see that those photos must have been done professionally as they did not represent the hotel very well. Our room was located on the 2nd floor facing into a driveway between the 2 buildings. It was disappointing when there were rooms facing into a nice swimming pool, courtyard area. Staff were very helpful. It is in a good location relative to the harbor & downtown is only 10 minutes away. $16 to rent a movie seemed a little excessive, but maybe I'm behind the times. There was a nice cafe on site where we enjoyed breakfast one of the three days we were there. Parking is at a premium, but I appreciated the fact that it was complimentary.
