Very Convenient to Airport

Posted 2-Nov-2014
I chose this hotel because it was so convenient for our mid-morning flight out of San Diego airport. We checked into the hotel on Halloween night. All of the front desk staff were in costume and offered Trick or Treat goodies - my 7-year-olds absolutely loved it! At staff's suggestion, we upgraded to a one room suite which allowed us to put the kids to bed and let the adults stay up longer in the sitting area. One of the nicest things about the hotel is that at the hotel's Point Loma Cafe, the kids eat free (one kid meal for every adult meal). All of the staff at the hotel were very nice but our waitress at the Cafe at breakfast was really outstanding. The only negative was that the hide-a-bed in the sitting area did not appear to have clean linen when we unfolded it. We called the front desk and within 15 minutes housekeeping arrived and completely re-did all of the bedding for us. Other than that, our stay was excellent at this hotel. I would consider staying here again on my next visit to San Diego.

Location, Location, Location

Posted 21-Oct-2014
Pros: The location. Although we weren't on a street frontage, we still didn't hear any noise from the road.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind.
Location: Jimmy's bar opposite the hotel; USS Midway and the Gaslamp Quarter.
It's all about location for this hotel. Right opposite the marina is a fantastic bar called Jimmy's Famous American Tavern (JFAT) where you can enjoy a meal/drink while looking at boats in the marina. We had a car so the location for us driving around San Deigo was good. The hotel and facilities were good and the staff in the café were very helpful. Thank you for a great stay in San Deigo.

Not worth what I pay

Posted 14-Oct-2014
This is me second time staying at this hotel. First stay was decent and my second stay horrible. The room smelled terrible. Outdated forniture. Visible deteriorating of the room it was not was I expected to pay for 280 a night.

Clean and nicely decorated

Posted 6-Oct-2014
The hotel is clean with a nice view. The tricky part that nice view is only on the side facing marina, the other side is a parking lot. That's where we got our room with was a bummer because we were hoping to get something we saw on the pictures from the website. Hotel stuff was not welcoming or helpful. The breakfast cafe has a terrible food. Definately not coming back to any Holiday Inn again.

Dear Luis: Thank you so much for writing your comments about your recent stay at the Holiday Inn Bayside. I am sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the room you reserved. Unfortunately we can only accomodate what our inventory would allow and block the rooms with the view to our guests who booked that room type. I also apologized that you find our staff not welcoming or helpful. Rude and unhelpful behavior is uancceptable at any time and will not be tolerated. I have addressed this situation with our Front Office Manager and asked that steps be put in place to eliminate this behavior in the future. I also forwarded you comment about the food to our Chef and Restaurant Manager. I realize that we cannot change what happened during your stay but I would certainly like another opportunity to restore your good faith in our hotel and experience the type of service and accomodations we wish you would have received in the first place. Again, thank you for letting us know of your experience. Sincerely, Rhinna B Meyer - Rooms Division Manager

NIce Hotel, in good location

Posted 11-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
Hotel was nice and staff was very friendly. Rooms were clean with comfortable beds. Hotel was hugh, three buildings with gym, laundry room, pool and Cafe. Cafe was affordable, comfortable, clean and good food. Staff was friendly and service was great! Parking lot for the hotel was small for larger vehicles as well as the pool area for the amount of rooms in the hotel. Would stay again and recommend to family and friends.

In need of an update

Posted 9-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
I stayed in the old part of the hotel. This was set up like a motel with your door on the outside of the building. I was on the second level and did not see an elevation, so I used the stairs. The room had been updated with a flat TV, but the rest of the bath area was in need of a renovation. I would only stay at this facility again if I had a room in the new building which looks wonderful.
