Courtesy use of bikes, excellent pool area

Posted 22-Aug-2014
Pros: Location
Location: Seaworld, San Diego Zoo, Old Town, Coronado Island, Imperial Beach, Mission Beach, La Jolla
We spent one week in San Diego. The hotel was in a quiet area away from the main tourist beaches. The hotel is conveniently located to attractions. We had the best of both worlds. Staff was friendly.

Good location

Posted 19-Aug-2014
Pros: Swimming pool has a bar right there for easy access. Quiet neighborhood.plenty of parking at night. Staff was great, shuttle drivers were very helpful.
Cons: Muffle the fireworks from Seaworld ? Just kidding, maybe some new carpet in the hallways.
Location: Ocean Beach and Mission Beach within 3 miles. Sunset Cliffs also close ,very beautiful. Unlimited dining options and shopping nearby.
Hotel is located in a great spot surrounded by many different dining options . Also nearby are beaches, shopping, access to the interstate and SeaWorld. All within a 3 mile drive. Room was serviceable nothing exotic considering the price charged per night. Point Loma Cafe is ok. One complaint, my daughter became ill during our stay, and vomited on the bed and floor. Call down to the desk and was informed housekeeping would be with us shortly. More than 90 minutes later we received a call , lady on the other end asked if my child was still locked out of the room. Really? That concerned you so much to wait an hour and a half ?

Lovely hotel in great location

Posted 16-Aug-2014
Pros: The rooms, pool & restaurant and the hotel lobby
Cons: Would have been better if breakfast had been included
Location: Lovely location near the bay but also near the airport
We travelled from our base in Los Angeles and, as we wanted a couple of days to explore the city and visit the zoo we booked in for 1 night. There were 6 of us, 4 teenaged children and we had 2 rooms. these were adjoining as requested. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a meal in the poolside restaurant which was excellent. The hotel lobby was beautiful.

Not the best location

Posted 14-Aug-2014
We came with relatives from France for 1 night. Upon checking into our adjoining rooms we found that one of the showers was broken and had to request another room. When we went to the second room the balcony had several beer bottles and trash and been missed in the cleaning. The rooms have an old musty smell and the bathrooms are very small. The location is not too bad if you are just going to Sea World but, if you want to walk harbor drive and be close to the Gaslamp and harbor you have to drive and pay for parking. The multiple buildings at the hotel are hard to navigate if you want to go to front desk or lobby or restaurant. I will not be going back to this hotel.

Dear Terri: Thank you so much for taking the time to post your review and talk about your recent stay at the Holiday Inn Bayside. Please allow me to apologize for any inconvenience you might have experienced when checking in and find your shower broken and then going to the next room and found trash in your balcony. A clean accomodation is a standard expectation of our guests and I completely understand your disappointment. Please rest assured that all of these has been passed on to the appropriate managers and will be talked about in the next staff meeting to avoid recurrence in the future. As far as our location is concern, our property is centrally located to a lot of bars and restaurants. The gaslamp is about 6 miles away and public transportation is easily accessible from the hotel. We sincerely want another opportunity to win back your good faith in our hotel during a future visit to San Diego. Sincerely, Rhinna B Meyer - Rooms Division Manager

Great location, service questionable.

Posted 12-Aug-2014
Room was nice, location right across from the marina was wonderful. Hotel staff cleaned our room but left door ajar and unlocked leaving us concerned about our personal safety and belongings. Management had no comment or resolution other than to offer to take 1 night of parking fees ($10) off the bill which they neglected to do.

Nice Hotel next to the beach

Posted 26-Jul-2014
We were a family of 2 adults and 2 children, the room was exceptional. Beautiful soft beds, lovely large bathroom, with a neutral beige decor. It felt relaxing with nice warm tones in the room, and importantly it was very clean. The hotel had washing machine facilities, which is a huge plus travelling with a family as it was very cheap to do a load of washing. Our room was in the new part of the hotel, the photos you see on the internet. However, when we first arrived, we were located in the older rooms, which you don't see on the internet. These were located directly behind the new rooms. The sheets were dirty, and the room was not made. This could all be rectified but what could not be was the horrible musty smell inside. I called reception within 5 minutes to explain my unhappiness and they were completly apologetic and obliging to find another room immediately for us. They send us downstairs to the restaurant for a free meal and a drink while we waited for a room. 30 minutes later, we arrived to the lovely room that is described above. Basically in a nutshell, they have old rooms and new rooms. You will not be disappointed at this hotel staying in one of the newer rooms.

Weekend visit

Posted 1-Jul-2014
It was nice but twice we were approached by staff asking if we were yelling, then if we slammed the door....??? We happened to be walking back from taking a look at the pool the first time.. And no we were talking softly. We had been gone all day and 10 minutes after we arrived heard a knock on the door and asked if we slammed our door... Really? Coming back from a long day out and lying down having to answer the door for that... No we didn't slam any doors... Not sure why they kept approaching us? Usually stay a a resort right off mission bay and never had any issues so definitely will stay at our usual spot next time, much better accommodations and atmosphere.
