“Holiday Inn Express- Old Town San Diego”
Overall, the hotel is nice, clean and great for a short trip to San Diego. But the rooms are overpriced considering how far it is from the heart of the city. If it was cheaper, I'd have no complaints.
“Good Value”
The hotel is in a good location close to Old Town San Diego which was nice. Shuttle service was very good to and from town and the airport. Only issue we had was the front desk people were a little disorganized and seemed to get flustered easily.
“We'll go again”
Good. We thought it was a good hotel with a good hot breakfast.
“Will stay again.”
It is a nice hotel. The breakfast is very good.
“Near the trolley... if the trolley stop was open”
We highly recommend the newly remodeled Holiday Inn Express at Old Town. We were visiting San Diego for Comic-Con and picked this hotel because of it's location to the trolley line. Unfortunately, our stop (Washington Street) was closed that week and we had to walk about a mile to get to the Old Town stop. Needless to say, the hotel is pretty far away from any attractions/Old Town, but the walk is do-able. Also, the very pleasant shuttle drivers are available to take you a reasonable distance. But, we decided that it was a bit of a hassle to have to call them and wait to be picked up. But, I should say that it is projected that the Washington Street Trolley stop should be opened by mid-August. The room was newly remodeled. It was very clean and modern. The bed was and pillows were comfy and so was the desk chair. We had a room with a single queen bed, which made the room pretty small. We had many freebees from the convention, and by the end of the week the small room seemed a bit claustrophobic. The free breakfast was terrific. They had a full array of breakfast food and it was reasonably fresh. The hotel is right next to the airport and the freeway so those who are unlucky enough to have a room facing those may have an issue with the noise, however our room faced the pool/San Diego Avenue. It was very quiet. Also, the hotel has BLARING neon lights on the outside, so your room GLOWS blue at night. Luckily our room was behind a wall, so the blue glow was less pronounced.
“Convenient to Old Town and Airport”
Clean and modern, We were upgraded to a Jacuzy Suite
“Comfort inn old town”
The hotel would have been very easy to locate ,if I had known about the change of name ,from Comfort Inn to Holiday Inn Express .Several fretful minutes spent driving up and down the street .My stay was very comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful .The hotel is by the airport and a busy road but I didn't notice too much noise. The location is very convenient for major roads leading to all the local attractions ,but there are very few eating places within walking distance. The Old Town is quite a walk but taxis were fairly reasonable .All in all I would say the hotel is good value and I would stay there again.
“Holiday Inn Express Old Town”
Very comfortable affordable and conveniently located hotel. I would definitely return
“Okay if you don't mind the neighborhood, the freeway, and a stuffy room”
We needed a hotel for one night only that was close to Sea World and this seemed to fit the bill. The location, in terms of being close to Sea World, worked well, and the breakfast buffet was very good. The staff in the buffet room was very friendly and helpful, and I loved the automatic pancake machine (I want one!). The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. However, the hotel is next to the freeway and unbeknownst to us, all rooms with two beds are on the freeway side of the property. Therefore, we had to listen to the freeway traffic all night. Also, the room was very stuffy and we could not open the window for fresh air, and the window air conditioning unit made the room too cold even on the lowest setting. We needed the air to keep the room from getting too stuffy and the vent setting did not help, so we had a very cold night! I would stay at this hotel again if we needed a one night stay only, but for an extended stay, I would recommend somewhere else. The pool is also very small, but that only matters if you want to go swimming. The neighborhood was also lacking, and the underground parking was tight, with small spaces resulting in people not parking within the lines (We had a hard time finding a spot for our minivan!).
“As home. I want to get back soon.”
very friendly, very comfortable, I have stayed in other hotels at San Diego but this one has been the most worthy to stay in, I dont want to keep trying others. This is from now on my favorite, you dont get charged extra per parking lot, breakfast, internet, washing machines, it has all escential to feel as a home :)
