“Very nice but bright room”
With one exception I'll get to, the stay was great. The staff was very helpful, even for a special request. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. It wasn't extremely busy, but it was a Friday night and the room was plenty quiet. The one downside is the curtains. They had a semi-sheer curtain that closed all the way and a light blocking curtain hung for looks that only closed halfway. This meant the room was illuminated by surrounding lights.
“long walk to elevator and lobby”
It was 135 steps from the nearest elevator to my room, over 100 yards from the lobby. I expect that in a huge Vegas hotel but not a Garden Inn. Very slow "high speed internet" when the hotel was early empty. 30 minutes to print a boarding pass. Staff was friendly but not doing well despite the lack of a crowd. Hotel was in an odd spot accessed through a business park.
“Very nice”
Really nice place overall. The rooms were clean and the staff was nice. Parking was great too; they have a really convenient garage under the hotel that had plenty of parking. The pool was nice and clean too; which my kids loved. The only issue is that the restaurant wasn't very good. My deal was a package with free breakfast; had it not been free I would have been really upset.
“Best Breakfast in Escondido!”
This hotel had an extremely helpful and friendly staff. The beds were comfy and the room was clean. We ordered pizza the first nite in and they offered to bring it by the pool! Cuz that's where the kids wanted to be of course. Even tho the hotel mainly caters to business people they did not seem to be bothered by a family of 4. We played spades in the lobby and the staff was friendly.
“Wild Animal Safari”
Very nice and clean. Very nice pool, nothing super lux, just nice and warm. No complimentary breakfast and house keeping seemed a little frazzled (we needed a port-a-crib) and overworked-but very nice. One criticism; they were a little stingy with the pool-side towels. We had to search out a phone (none near the pool) to call to ask for towels more than once. They only set out a small armful each time and the pool was crawling with High School basketball tourney kids.
“Little Noisy”
The room was very comfy, but the maintenance crew started making noise WAY too early. 6:30 am is not time for a chainsaw.
“Great Value”
Located in a great area (Poway) of northern San Diego, this property is close to great hiking and golf while also not much more than a 20 minute drive in the greater / downtown SD city area. San Diego Safari Park is about 6 miles away. Plenty of free parking and while it's immediately adjacent to the freeway, the way it is placed and with surrounding buildings it's very quiet. I've stayed there several times and see no reason to change locations.
“nice & quiet hotel”
near to the shopping mall, good restaurants in the neighborhood
“Incompetents”
When packing a forgot my bluetooth headset to my cell phone. I left it on the nightstand. I called the front desk 40 mins. after check out. They transfered me to housekeeping voicemail. I left a detailed message. No one called back. I called again 4 hours later, no one called back. I phoned the next day and left a message for the acting hotel manager. No one called back. I called again the next day, now two days after check out. I complained enough that the acting manager called me two hours later. Told her my story and she said she would look into it. Two more hours later and the manager of housekeeping called and left a message that my headset was no where to be found. I went out and bought a new one.
“Good location to go to Safari Park”
The hotel is conveniently located with plenty of parking. It is within close distance to good shopping areas, Safari Park and a great winery. You can park your car in a gated garage and access your room directly from the elevator. The only drawback is that if your room is located on the pool side, it can get noisy with kids playing loudly. Apparently, there were no rooms available with a mountain view at the time we checked in.
