“Would go back if the price was right.”
The room had new carpet, new 32 inch TV, Frig in the room which was nice. Towels were plenty and bathroom clean. Non smoking property. The A/C didn't work but they fixed it right away. The repairman was rude about it and it took him two visits to get it to work but after that it worked great. The King bed was uncomfortable, old, and worn. We rolled to the middle of the bed. If I went back I would get a room with two beds hoping they were more up to date. The resturant was average price. The bartender was fast and friendly. Free WIFI in the lobby. Worked great. Clean hotel with friendly service. Our room windows opened so we had fresh air, which was nice. This is a two story hotel with NO elavators. No shuttle bus to or from the airport. They will call you a taxi which cost about $20.00 with no tip. It cost us $25.00 for a taxi to take us to the hotel from the airport because of traffic being slow. The hop on hop off bus stops in front of the hotel. One day pass cost $35.00 per person. The rate for this hotel was expensive for the location. I got it on Expedia for $16 less per night. No other hotel or eating establishment near within walking distance. We didn't have a car so we took taxi's everywhere. A car rental is located in the hotel lobby. T & C hotel was a 10 minute walk away. This hotel is much nicer and updated then the T& C where our family stayed.
“Would stay at again”
Shuttle was great. Driver knew the area and he gave us some coupons for lunch. When we didn't use the shuttle the bus/tram system was just around the corner. Several places to eat nearby. We stayed for 2 nights, room was clean and very quiet at night. I would stay there again next time I need to go to San Diego.
“Nice hotel if you can get a good rate”
We choose this hotel because of the good rate on Expedia and the fact that they had a shuttle to the major attractions (Sea World, Zoo). The hotel/motel has been refurbished (unfortunately they used a lot of brown which makes it a little dark) so everything is clean. Rooms good size, clean and good bathrooms. Hotel web pictures make it look a little more high end that they actually are but they are fine. Has a nice pool and a small workout room with treadmills, weights. We ate breakfast at their resturant and food good. Can buy SD tee shirts for $10 in the gift shop. Staff very friendly and helpful. When we arrived we were given a brief tour so we would know where everything was located. Drawbacks: They charge for parking,( even for short visits by guests) and its right off the major highway (RT 8) as are most of the hotels on Hotel Circle. There is a golf course next to it but you can't see it from the hotel and its fenced in from the side. We didn't see any resturants near by but we were only there for 2 days and used the hotel shuttle. Did walk( shuttle will take you there if available) to the Fashion Valley Mall looking for a drug store (none in the mall) Most of the hotel/motels on Hotel Circle are located along RT 8 which is a major highway (5/6 lanes) so this is not a scenic/walking area but hotlels are central to the attractions.
“This is a great hotel!”
This is a great hotel. The location is great as it is close to the mall and many other attractions, and it seems to be in a safe, family friendly area. The room was comfortable but the bathroom was pretty small. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in, it was great! We ate in the hotel restaurant for dinner and breakfast and it was very good. It was a negative to have to pay for parking and wi fi internet. Overall it was a very positive experience. I will stay there again and I would recommend it!
“Loved San Diego!”
The Handlery was in a nice central location. The first night there we realized we could hear the highway from our room. They gave us a different room right away. The service was good and the people were friendly. They have a nice pool and jacuzzi. We met some nice people in the evenings sitting out there.
“Nightmare”
Should not be listed as a resort, maybe 50 years ago! Small rooms, not sound proof, 1st night only college parties came us awake, maybe got 1 hour sleep! Poor restaurant, bar/grill, terrible food, guest had to pay to park, cooler - not even cool enough to keep food/drinks cold!
“San Diego stay”
This was a awesome stay
“Unsanitary and Loud - Would give them another chance”
I may give this hotel a second chance since the managment refunded my room and parking charges after I politely complained at check-out. Fortunately, the management acknowledged they dropped the ball with the cleaning of the pool, picking up the mess from the afternoon parties (food on pool deck, cups & straws in pool, etc. etc.). The late night parties kept me awake until about 4:00 AM. Security did respond when requested but there were too many partiers to keep the property quiet. Guess I had back luck and horrible timing. Thank you to the mangement of the hotel by demonstrating customer service and refunding my charges.
“would go back”
we had a good experience . the staff were really friendly and helpfull.
“loved everything about the hotel and will go back”
very nice and very convenient.
