“A lovely boutique hotel”

This hotel was absolutely beautiful. Built in 1913 with history and a central location in La Jolla. It was a jewel with impeccable service, decor and views of the ocean. Can't beat it! We will stay there again.

“Loved this hotel”

We stayed at the Grande Colonial for four nights in May. The hotel is older, but beautiful, and we loved it. Rooms were nice although the bathroom was a little small for 2 women and all our stuff. Could use another shelf to put things on. The beds were the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. Beautifully decorated and smelled great with fresh flowers in the lobby every day. Service was excellent. The valet boys up front always had a friendly greeting and took care of our car. The terrace and gardens and pool were so relaxing - we looked at some other hotels in LaJolla and were definitely happy with the Grand Colonial. Can't wait to go back! Highly recommend it.

“Would go back to Grande Colonial, perfect spot, people friendly”

Excellent, quainte hotel, gives feeling of home. The staff very friendly and accommodating. The only complaint I have is that the pool area is not serviced with staff. Had to try to find someone to take food and drink order, once delivered no one showed up to see if we wanted more drinks. The other is that the bar closes at 10:30p.m. on a Saturday night...too early.

“Very nice hotel”

This is very nice elegant older building. Our room was plenty large, suite-style, with a walk in closet (!). Windows actually open. Nice pool outside (didn't use). The bed was very comfortable, and they turn down the bed every evening (like a B&B). Location is great, in the heart of La Jolla, next to shopping and restaurants. The shopping is mostly boutique type shops. Note: Parking will cost you $16/day (valet style). There is not a lot of other parking available. From the hotel you can walk to the La Jolla caves (didn't go) or the Seal beach (where seals sunbathe) or regular beaches/parks. We were debating whether to stay downtown or in La Jolla, and overall we were very pleased staying in La Jolla. It's only about a 10-15 minute drive to downtown.

“A Lovely Stay and a Great Value”

We really enjoyed our stay at the Grande Colonial. It is a lovely hotel located right on Prospect Street, with great shopping and restaurants all around us. It is just a short walk around the corner to the shoreline. The bathrooms are very small, as previously stated, but very clean. The rooms are very comfortable and nicely appointed. The staff was friendly and helpful. We ordered up breakfast every day, and it was always hot and delicious. Lunch at the Nine-Ten was great too.

“A great view and great service”

Our first night was in a lower level room with no view. We were moved the next day to a wonderfull room with ocean views and sunsets. Linens were up to par and the bath robes very nice. We didnt' want to leave this room. Once a conference moved out the hotel settled down. The hotel is cental to views and walks. Shoping and food are pleantifull with prices covering all catagories. We look forward to going back and staying at the Grande Coloniel Hotel.
