“Not Impressed”

The hotel was a bare minimum experience. I was shocked that there was no iron or ironing board and that in order to obtain one (a mini version at that) I had to pay a deposit that I would recieve back upon check out. Just strange. There was no coffee maker, no fridge... basically, bed, old TV, sink, toilet and shower. Now, it WAS clean, cool and neat. For that I was grateful.

Comment from the hotel's management
Thank you for recognizing the positive features of our guest rooms: Clean, cool and neat. And I apologize for any misunderstanding or representation of our rooms. We do not advertise irons or boards, coffee makers or fridges in our guest rooms, but we do supply them upon request, when and if available. We try to offer the best price value while providing the best positive experience for our guest. I do hope you will give us another opportunity to be of service to you again, with our guests feedback we are making noticeable changes and making improvements daily. Thank you

“Great central location on I5 in Chula Vista”

Great central location on I5 in Chula Vista for those who are going to be in south San Diego County. Front desk people were extremely courteous and helpful. This might not be a location that single women would find real comfortable, but there are far worse neighborhoods. (The closest thing thing to the hotel is the Chula Vista Nature Reserve 1/2 block away.) And the trolley station is approximately a one block walk away. For the price it is a good value.

Getting around
The trolley station is one block from the hotel. San Diego is well known for having the best mass transit system in the US (when considering only 1million plus cities.) From the trolley a traveler can get all over the city and get to all the other forms of mass transit (buses, trains, etc.)
Comment from the hotel's management
I welcome your comments you've mentioned the Front Desk Staff for their customer service, and you've made an excellent notations about the Trolley Transit System and it's location to the hotel and the Nature Center. It sounds as if you were able to do some sight seeing and got to know San Diego. I really appreciate your comments, and I hope we can accommodate your future needs. Until then Best regards and Happy New Year!

“Getting locked out”

1st, I had to reset card to to enter gate to parking lot 3 times. Which meant I had to back up onto a busy street. 2nd, I know there is a shortage of jobs in CA but is there also a shortage of toilet paper. When I went to the front desk to get a roll, he did not have key to supply closet and told me I had to wait until 8am. I traveled from the east coast so my internal clock is set differently. I had to go buy a roll. Ofcourse I got locked out wwhen I came back. See above. 3rd When I went to complain at checkout the receptionist gave a card to contact the manager. There wasno name. And by her demeanor it appeared she did'nt really care. This must be an ongoing issue. First and last time I stay there

Area recommendations
Brooklyn or Manhattan (lower or midtown). Brooklyn is just over several bridges and the city (Manhattan) wel is the city. Great food and entertainment as well as shopping. Try the local restaurants. But make sure to have cash in case they dont accept credit.
When to go
Best time is late spring or the fall. Best weather. The winter is nice as well but have a plan for unexpected weather delays and be sure to dress in layers. If you like humidity then by all means come in the summer...but you have been warned. It is long and unpredictable.
Getting around
Public trans is good. Subway is easy to manage with a map. Use a local car service in lieu of taxis (use if you have too but be ready for some crazy driving). If yuou decide to rent a car you must get GPS and expect delays on the highways. Traffic is terrible out here 7 daysa week almost 24 hours.
What to pack
Light clothing in spring and fall but bring a jacket just in case. For the winter, dress in layers.
Must see
All kinds of stuff. The city, Stat of Liberty, Fredom Tower, 9-11 Memorial, plays, Central Park, etc. Its New York
Shopping
Lots of shopping but dont expext alot of malls. Most places are free standing
Dining
Try the local stuff. Food is great. Best pizza and bagels.
Events and shows
There is alway something going on in the boroughs.

“Chula Vista Trip”

The first room smelled of smoke really bad and I smoke. The bed had a permenant bow in the middle of it and the shower had more water coming out of the spout then the shower and almost flooded the tub. The second room, the fridge made a loud noise, no caulk in the tub and you could hear the neighbors thru the wall with the tv turned up really loud. Also found a bug on the table when we came back from dinner, not sure if it was a bed bug or cockroach. I left it smashed under the Pepsi cap and told them when I checked out where they could find their pet.

“Surprisingly Clean”

I was very happy with the services I received from staff. They were very accommdating and friendly. Even though this is just a small motel, the rooms including the bathroom were cleaner than the the other hotel I stayed for the previous 2 nights and the rate was lower.

“Basic - great if you are not looking for luxury”

The main advantage of the hotel is its location, in my opinion - right off the 5. I was there for a convention in downtown, and this hotel made it easy to jump on the road without having to pay the extravagant cost of a hotel closer to the convention center. The other plus to highlight was the very friendly girl at the front - she was helpful and sweet, a rarity in budget hotels I've found! The room was clean, and had all basic necessities. I would definitely not stay for pleasure/vacation but is fine for those just coming through town or staying for business and looking for a cheap room. I liked having a mini-fridge and the bed was comfortable enough - I could've used a nicer/more pillows but not a big deal for me. The continental breakfast is nothing to write home about (just muffins and beverages) but it was nice to have something to grab in the morning. The walls are paper-thin as others have reported, but as I said I just needed a place to crash after a long day so it didn't bother me. I felt very safe, and the balconies are well-lit. If you are not expecting luxury I think this is a perfectly adequate place to stay!

Area recommendations
I would not stay anywhere else in Chula Vista - there are bad parts not far away - but the bay is fine. And the Good Nite Inn is right off the freeway in a safe location.
Comment from the hotel's management
Thank you for providing such an informative review for future guests. Not only is there easy access off the highway and close to the San Diego Convention Center. The Trolley station is just 1 1/2 blocks away from the hotel and can tranport you and drop you off at the Convention center, Seaport Village, Old Town, Fashion Valley Mall, Quallcomm Stadium, Petco Park, San Diego State University and even Mexico! All with the all day pass costing $5.00 which also includes any bus service. I apologize for any noise concerns from rooms adjoining but each room is built with 3 sides of Concrete blocked walls and the front entrance to the room is wall to wall double pained tinted windows. Makes for a great view! Wishing you a festive New Year!
