I loved how friendly and helpful the staff was from checking in to even valet to take my car. I got lucky and my room was upgraded, which was really appreciated and desired after the day I had. The room itself was spacious, clean, and I felt comfortable sleeping. The only downside, which is the downside to many hotels out in busy tight cities, is parking is not included in the stay. That comes out to $40 a night, BUT at least there was valet so I didn't have to find street parking if I did not want to.

We initially had reservations about this establishment, but I stand corrected. It's an ideal destination for a weekend getaway, boasting proximity to the ocean, various activities, and restaurants. The closure of Gaslamp street for evening events adds to its appeal. The customer service is exceptional, and the rooms are both beautiful and impeccably clean. Moreover, being a historical building, the rooftop offers the most breathtaking views. This has become our go-to spot, and it's surprisingly affordable too

Bit loud location on weekends, just because of the surrounding area, so if you are looking for a quiet place, this might not be the best fit. If you are looking for easy access to restaurants, things to do, and nightlife, then this is a great place. Really nice staff. The rooms are a bit dated, but also charming.

This is a beautiful hotel with a lot of charm. It’s in the middle of downtown and walking distance of restaurants and bars. The staff was extremely helpful and kind. The doorman at night helped me feel safe arriving back to the hotel in the early morning hours. I regret not getting his name, but thank you night shift door man! The front desk staff was amazing. I will definitely stay there again!

The amount you spend you’d expect top of the line. I’d compare it to a Motel 6 stay with Holliday Inn prices in a nice area. But I guess because it’s the “Plaza” in GasLamp

Great staff, just super loud . Windows are not sound prof so it was hard to sleep hearing the partying crowds Mattress so uncomfortable and pillows were so hard .

This hotel is right downtown so great location to wherever you need to go! The area is a bit sketchy and dirty just because of where it is, but the actually hotel is well kept. The only complaint I have is that the AC in our room seems to not be working. We left the AC running the entire night at 65 and the room was stuck at 75 the whole night. So it was VERY warm. Staff was very nice and attentive!

The design and furnishings in my Junior Suite were exquisite and immaculate. The room with amenities such as fridge, microwave and coffee maker made for a stay with all the comforts of home. The convenience of being just steps away from the downtown shops and eateries and not far from attractions such as Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo made my visit even more ideal. I would give 5 stars to this hotel.

My wife and I stayed at the property in the business room that was small as was stated when I booked the room. The room size was fine except for the fact the bathroom door was not able to be fully opened and would hit the bed. I woke my wife in the middle of the night using the restroom as it's the tight getting through the door.The bed was hard and not very comfortable, furniture was dated and also uncomfortable, our window was a view of the back of the building behind the property. However the terrace on top of the building was fantastic, it was really nice to have breakfast or if you wanted to do dinner on the roof enjoying the nightlights in the evening. Location location location; this hotel is right in the Gaslamp district. We Ubered from the airport to the hotel and walked all over the area and even to the water front with ease, ni need to have a rental car if your planning to spend your time in the area that has plenty of night life and food to keep anyone busy and full.

Stayed here for the Chris Stapleton Concert, I liked how it was walking distance to Petco Park & we felt safe walking to and from the stadium. Upon checking in they give you a little history of the hotel with it being the oldest hotel in the area and you can definitely tell. The lobby had a lot of dust build up and the rooms could use a nice deep cleaning however the staff was very nice and I like how they lock the front doors at 5pm so only guests can go in and out. They do have a cocktail lounge in the basement that turns into a night club at 10pm that would be great for those who want some night life but don’t want to leave the hotel. This is a great location for those who love the bar life, they have lots of bars and restaurants right down the road. My only other complaint is there’s no vending machine so if you want any drinks or snacks you have to go to the 7/11 a few blocks away & it does get pretty loud at night since it’s in the heart of the Gaslamp District.

Unfortunately this was listed as a queen bed. The bed was a "full" at best. I understand the hotel is older but i am 6'3 with a 5'7 girlfriend and that was definitely disappointing. Lucky we only need the room for one night. Room lay out was also strange. I have never stayed in a hotel with the bed against the wall. Overall 3.5

We had the best experience in this property. From the check in process, ended up extending a few times with our group of friends and until check out. The area and the staffs were super friendly and nice. Will definitely stay at this boutique hotel again. Everything was just great and we felt welcomed and safe.

We arrived much earlier than check in so they couldn't accomodate us but there was no place to wait. First impression of lobby and hotel was not good. The cleaning cart was just inside the front door making the small, much smaller than picture implied, look run down, Not inviting. Front door locked at 9 am. The valet had to use a key card to enter the front door. We returned briefly before our afternoon/evening activities around 1:00 pm. It was still before checkin so the front desk person offered to let us sit on the roof top deck until our appointments at 2:00. That improved our opinion as the deck was very nice. Had coffee and water available. Wished he had offered deck earlier when we arrived in the morning as it was before check in, no real lobby, no nearby restaurants and Neighborhood rough with homeless. So being forced to walk around all morning was not good. When we returned about 8 pm after our afternoon and evening appointments we were allowed to access our mini suite which we had booked and paid for (not an upgrade). It was spacious and nice but on the 3rd floor. It was too late to ask for something else. The street noise was horrible- NO sleep. If you go to Gaslamp Plaza Suites, insist on a higher floor. Maybe less noise. If you are young and like bars, the location could be a positive. Note I can say the very pleasant hotel staff was a plus.

Beautiful hotel with a cute roof top terrace. Didn’t learn until we were leaving there is a “Vault” downstairs that is original to the hotel (Used to be a bank) and there was music and drinks. We would’ve loved to enjoy that but didn’t know it existed. Other than that the hotel is very cool, original Marbel and location can’t be beat. Will be back!
