“beautiful place”
The hotel was beautiful and charming. The grounds were calming and very relaxing. The entire place ---inside and outside had fireplaces and candles, which was quite romantic. We ate at Mustang restaurant. The outside was absolutely gorgeous and welcoming. The food was fresh and flavorful and the service was great. I will definitely go back.
“Not for Business Travellers”
I visited the Enstancia last month for business and it was a terrible experience. The layout of the hotel is such that you must walk what seems like a quarter of mile to get to your room. I was carrying my luggage, purse and laptop and was given a room at the far end of the property. I was given a map which was vague to say the least. I was not offered any help to find my room. The hotel is set out as a maze and after several attempts to find my room I found a man that appeared to be management and asked him for assistance. He escorted me to my room with no offer of helping me with my luggage. I thought I would have room service as to avoid the trek back to the dining room but the menu was so limited I was forced to make my way back to the dining room. The food was fine but the service was appalling. I asked for a bread basked but did not receive it until my entre had been cleared. The only good service I received was from the captain who offered to by me a desert or wine a result of the poor serve.
“Class-y UCSD Joint”
Elegant, very well-maintained and managed hotel with wonderfully landscaped grounds, an excellent warm ocean water pool and large hot tub. During our brief stay there were at least three events at the hotel and they all seemed to be run very professionally. Food was fresh and expertly prepared while wait service was well-trained, friendly and helpful without being overly-familiar. Continental breakfast is a bargain compared with breakfast menu, but the uninspired sweet roll offerings knocked down the otherwise tasty overall impression. We had an "Estate" or run of the house room which accomodated three adults, but just barely. Furniture will need a makeover in 2-3 years. Artwork and commom space furnishings were of high quality and more sensitive to artistic sensibilities than the average hotel-a definite "thumb's up" touch. The bathroom was more than adequate with the toilet separated by a pocket door, an arrangement which worked quite well here. Maintenance was impeccable and security was obviously taken very seriously, perhaps a bit intrusive but reassuring for all that. Did not sample the Spa offerings. Ten minute easy drive to beaches, San Diego attractions and yet "away from it all" at the same time. Neighboring UCSD campus and other neighboring world-class scientific institutes did not disturb the tranquil atmosphere, although I did frequently check my DNA to ensure it was not being genetically modified surreptitiously. Highly recomended.
“Not Cheap , But very nice”
Friendly, attentive staff, Maintnance and upkeep is excellent, Food is good but expensive. Pool is beautiful. Would definetly go back, But only at a discount thru expedia.
“Our favorite place to stay in San Diego.”
This was our second visit to Estancia. We really love the ambiance here. The grounds are beautiful and it has wonderful little areas to sit and relax. The outside bar area is very cozy and they have a fireplace. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool area and the pool is a saltwater pool. We will definitely stay here again.
“Extremely relaxing getaway”
Excellent hotel. Gret gardens, very nice swimming pool area, swimming pool of a respectable size, nice quiet bars let you enjoy a nice California evening. On the less bright side: Parking is x$/day for self-park, x+5$ if valet, where x could be the price of a meal... MORE IMPORTANTLY: you have to pay for internet access.......??? y$/day....which adds up ! + Internet is very slow (or at least was extremely slow in my room (#377) so I used my smart phone instead, since it was faster.
“Great Spot”
Great hotel if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Very beautiful spot with immaculate landscaping.
“beautiful grounds, peaceful setting”
great for corporate events,
“Pretty good”
Good in general, most aspects were good. The room was clean, furniture was nice. Staff attitude was nice and friendly. View from my room not so good though. I bought some sunscreen through room service and that took around 30 mins to get arrive at my room. :/
“Beautiful resort”
We spent a week at Estancia La Jolla and had a great experience. The staff is both helpful and friendly. Our room was very well cared for every day. The pool area is top notch and was a very relaxing place to spend time. We had breakfast twice in the hotel's restaurant, and both times it was excellent (we highly recommend the omelets!).
