“Home Away From Home in La Jolla”

The staff were extremely helpful throughout our entire stay. Each time that we returned back to the hotel, they'd ask us how our day was. They truly made our stay very enjoyable. The valet service was always quick, continental breakfast was better than most and the location of the hotel was perfect.

“Would definitely return”

My wife and I went down to San Diego for a long weekend. We both enjoyed our stay and would recommend staying at the hotel. We read about the hotel on the internet. Not the fanciest hotel but well worth the money. Nice location in La Jolla. After reading some of the reviews, I just think sometimes people expect too much. Room was clean and the service was very friendly.

“Cozy and personable. Can't wait to visit again.”

This hotel was outstanding, affordable and well maintained. It is in the heart of La Jolla and is a great way to save on vacation expenses without cutting quality or service.

“CENTRAL HOTEL”

We were very impressed with this hotel very good value for money. The location was better than expected walking distance from everywhere was minimal. The staff were very helpful and also had good free internet access. The Manhattan restaurant had excellent service and extremely good food. If I did go back (don't usually go back to the same place twice) I would certainly use it.

“We'd stay there again”

The hotel was a decent value for the money. The room was nicely furnished, spacious, and the bedding was very comfortable. We had a large TV and free broadband access in our room. The bathroom was outdated, but clean and in good condition. The complimentary continental breakfast was a nice bonus, but don't expect too much (toast, muffins, pastries, cereal, hardboiled eggs etc). The hotel is conveniently within walking distance to the shopping areas and the beach. Day and night front desk staff were cordial and helpful, but a bit odd. Complimentary Apples and fresh baked cookies available in the afternoon.

“Going Back”

Continental breakfast and valet service exceeded expectations. Large selection for continental breakfast. Valet service was quick for car. Room was very comfortable with refrigerator and safety deposit box. Easy walks to beach, grocery stores, and restaurants. Note (this has nothing do to with the hotel): One negative if you don't like sushi: there are 4 sushi restaurants on the same block of the hotel. You might have to look further for other cuisines if you don't eat at the hotel restaurant.

“A great, great hotel”

The Empress is quiet but "high quality." Beds are extremely comfortable. Bed linens & pillows are luxurious. The Empress provides a nice continental breakfast, and The Cottage, which serves wonderful breakfasts and lunches [to LARGE crowds] is right down the street. Front desk personnel are extremely nice & helpful.

“I couldn't have been happier with my stay at the EMPRESS ---OUTSTANDING”

The Empress is a GREAT place to stay.. The rooms are big the location is perfect and the people are very helpful and personable... If anyone doesn't like the Hotel or La Jolla then they do not need to go to a BEACH TOWN community for their stay or vacation.. This makes Carmel look sick... I grew up in Southern Calif. and until the last ten years I couldn't afford to stay in a nice place like La Jolla or their hotels..I do know what I am talking about and this is a real treat for anyone wanting to stay in La Jolla or a beach type setting..
