“Empress La Jolla”
great location for walking around town
“Good location nothing wrong with the hotel”
Repeat the above
“EXPECTATIONS NOT MET...”
The location is great, but the hotel is a bit run down, the firnuture in the room needs to be replaced, the TV is old, the carpet is old and it was a bit noisy at nights. For the price we paid, I expected a little bit more than that... I really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast in the mornining, the outdoor patio was great place to relax. Overall it was an OK hotel, with some adjustments it has a potential to become a Great hotel.
“Great spot in La Jolla!”
I found this hotel on Expedia and wasn't sure exactly what to expect--luckily we were pleasantly surprised! The location is perfect, right in central La Jolla, an easy walk to the shops and shore. The service was excellent, very California-laid-back yet attentive. The room was comfortable and large, nice bathroom, good TV, great bed. Couldn't ask for better. We will be back!
“Good service and comfortable rooms”
This is an older hotel that with rooms that were nicely renovated. The beds were comfortable. Large bathrooms. Service at the front desk was very helpful. Espoecially Ben and Al. Use taxi service and the folks they called Monty's provided comfortable town cars and competent drivers. Complimentary breakfast was about average. Some nice coffee shops close by. Enjoyed Tilley coffee about 3 blocks away and the Brick and Bell coffee shop about 1/5 blocks away had good coffee and muffins. Also Ben recommended the Aroma for a light afternoon snack about two blocks away. food was excellent. Within walking distance to some nice evening meals. and a short drive to the Marine room which can't be beat.
“Awesome location, customer service, and facility”
This was our third stay at the Empress! Need I say more?
“Dave”
The hotel room was a little dated. The breakfast room was small but had outside space. The Manhatten bar was excellant and we enjoyed the bartender (Mike). We had very good service from the valet parking and desk people.
“A relaxing weekend!”
My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Empress for our anniversary. We chose to use the hotel valet parking ($15 a night) We didn't want to hassle moving the car every couple of hours by parking on the street. We didn't even use the car the whole 2 days. We weren't there to site see but did a lot of walking around the village. We enjoyed the local restaurants. The hotel has a restaurant but didn't eat there. It looked nice though. We were extremely happy with the location. The room was spacious and very comfortable. We didn't try the breakfast offered, we wanted to enjoy eating out at The Cottage.
“Very nice hotel”
Very nice hotel. Parking on the street is relatively easy. Buffet is typical and well stocked,
“La jolla business trip”
This is the place to stay if you'd like to walk around downtown La Jolla, close to everything
