“Great hotel - No Free WiFi”

Great location, very convenient. My only gripe is that complimentary wireless internet access is listed as an amenity but in reality it is 9.99 per night.

“Not the best service.”

We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights and discovered that anyone could enter our room without a key card on the 3rd night. It could not be fixed that night and the manager was supposed to do somthing the next morning. Of course, nothing was done the next day due to his busy schedule. We finally switched to another room but we were not happy with the slow service. No apologies were offered at all. Housekeeping was not the best either. We found hair clips on the carpet for the duration of the stay in the first room. The second room was even more run down....

Area recommendations

Del Mar is a very nice area with lots of dining choices and near the beach. People are very polite and streets are clean. Service in restaurants are very cordial.

Must see

Coronado Island. Nice beaches. The sandy beaches shines in gold with the sunset..truly romantic! Parking is free.

“Slightly above average”

Nice hotel, nice pool, friendly service, comfortable beds. No vending machines on the floors for snacks; overpriced snacks located in the "gift shop" next to the front desk. No refrigerator in rooms. Would have like to have free internet connection!

Rent a car! Hotel is not conveniently located to attractions and the "taxi" fares are extremely high.

“Definitely would stay here all over again!”

I live near a doubletree in La County and this one in SD is nothing like that one. Its surrounded by company buildings. Very quiet and I saw that guests of all ages were staying here. The room was clean and beautiful, esp since we didn't expect that for the amount we paid for. They had excellent cookies and I loved the staff.

Downtown SD is fun for italian dining and some drinks after. We also went to the SD Zoo which is amazing <3

“One of Del Mar's Finest!!”

The desk staff was incredibly friendly and very accomodating. The room was just as wonderful, perfectly clean every day, and there's not a bad thing I could stay about our stay. They started rennovations the day we left, and that tied up one elevator, but if that is the only down-fall, then I think we are in rather good shape!

“Never disappointed.”

When in the San Diego area we always stay at the Double Tree in Del Mar. It's location is ideal to both North and South San Diego County with easy freeway access. The bes are extremely comfortable. The only draw-back is that none of the rooms have king-sized beds. They are good value for money and their consistency quality will keep us coming back.

“Don't believe all the bad...there are good too”

I almost felt guilty when I checked in knowing what I paid. Iwas welcomed by the famous warm cookie- well worth putting the diet aside for that one! Nice lighted parking lot with good security so a woman alone is safe, room clean neat and well apointed. Utilized the gym nice and clean as well. I will stay there next year! Or later this year too!
