“Great stay!”

Hotel was clean and front desk was very helpful! Hotel is near the freeway. I was kind of drawn back from the other review about the loud noise from freeway, but it wasn't that bad. I was very pleased with my stay and would definitely go back.

“A One Night Stand”

Although we were in San Diego for one night only, we enjoyed our stay at Courtyard Marriott immensely. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and simple. Beds were VERY comfortable, as was the temperature of the room. Would stay there again when going down to San Diego.

“Nice and clean.”

This hotel lived up to your expectations. It was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The surrounding neighborhood is great, many restaurants to choose from. Easy access to the freeway and only 20 minutes (non rush hour) from downtown San Diego. We got a great rate and were very happy with what we received.

“Great stay; worked out perfectly.”

Would definitely stay here once more when visiting San Diego. A little drive from downtown, but worth it for the parking and general area allowing us to visit Carlsbad and La Jolla. Oh yeah, Starbucks nearby!! Also, Elephant Bar very close by too.

“Good hotel for visiting family or doing business in Poway, CA”

I really liked the location of this hotel (near main roads and restaurants and in a business park sort of area near Poway, CA). The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was alright but probably a little too expensive for what it is- if you like omelettes made to order just make sure you get there with enough time before they close. The room was not well insulated (as most buildings in CA are not) and it was cold during our trip over Christmas. It was rainy and low 50's- the room would become pretty cold and then the heat/air conditioner unit did not have in-between or auto settings. The bathroom did not have a fan- so it became very foggy when showering and the walls were paper thin. I could hear guests in the room next to mine having conversations while in the bathroom. My Dad and his girlfriend always stay at this hotel and have never had a problem with thin walls or noise from other guests so this might just have been our wing of the hotel. Another thing of note is that the towels are very thin and scratchy and could stand to be replaced. After listing all of these minor complaints, I would still recommend this hotel. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the sheets were very soft. We did not get to use the pool because of weather but it looked really neat and there was a path around a little pond in the back of the hotel as well. The staff were really great and probably the most welcoming of hotel staff that I've ever encountered.

Area recommendations

We were just here to visit family in Poway, CA- We didn't get to go there this time but Balboa Park is highly recommended (it has the San Diego Zoo and other museums there).

Dining

For breakfast- Original Pancake House near Pomerado Rd. is wonderful. There is usually a 15-20 minute wait but it is worth it (much better than Denny's or other breakfast places).

Family-friendly activities

Travel to Julian, CA to check out the old town- there are restaurants (famous apple pie) and gift shops that are really neat.

“Good Enough”

The hotel is fine. The location was key for me. The spa was broken for all three days I was there and when I asked about it, they replied they did not have an eta for reopening. All else was fine.

“Excellent service, excellent value”

This hotel is tucked into a business park and away from "hotel row." The hotel itself is spotlessly maintained, and the staff go out of their way to be helpful. The food in the hotel restaurant is good, but the restaurant is understaffed and the service is slow. However, I choose to come back here every time I have business in the area--it's a great value for the money.
