“Great value for the location”

Great value for the location. Went to San Diego for meeting, my friends paid a lot more for identical rooms nearby. Would come back to the same hotel.

“Definitely will stay there again”

Granted the room was small, the convenience of the surroundings (Buca deBeppo Restaurant next door, Borders Books nearby, a Pacific Movie Theater, and numerous bars and restaurants throughout the Gas Lamp District) makes this the ideal place to stay. Also, for some good shopping check out the Westfield Shopping Plaza which was only about 8 minutes away. It does it's job very well just as a place to sleep and store your stuff. The staff was nice and there there was free breakfast provided (go early though, they run out of certain foods if you arrive late). There is a microwave and a small fridge in your room and a free bottled water is provided daily in your room daily. The only concern (although very minor) I had with the area were the number of homeless people around the area. But for the most part they left you alone. I attended the 2009 Comic-Con and the Convention Center is only 10 minutes away. I would definitely stay here again for future Comic-Cons or just to hang out and experience the Gas Lamp district.

“Perfect for our situation”

This hotel was ideally situated as it was just a short walk (six blocks) to the convention center. Secure covered parking was just across the street and reasonably priced (don't use the hotel parking). Courtesy breakfast was ample and our room was tiny but very clean. Computers and laundry available.

“Pleasant surprise”

Room is fine for the price, clean and well maintained. Breakfast is excellent, hot eggs, waffles, great coffee. As you might expect in an inexpensive hotel, the clientele can be a little colorful and the whole area is noisy at night. Hey, it's the Gaslamp, that's what you come for! I was a little startled that the staff used the breakfast area as a break room, and had trouble using the washing machine because the staff was doing their personal laundry, though.

“An affordable downtown hotel”

I visited San Diego to see a Padres game, and this was the perfect hotel for that. It's only a few blocks north of Petco Park. The staff was very friendly and the room was comfortable. Definitely worth it for a downtown hotel, especially when compared to the high rise hotels that surround it. The free breakfast in the morning was also a huge plus - very convenient. It's not the fanciest hotel in the world, but I would definitely stay there the next time I'm in San Diego.

“Love the service”

I loved the service from the staff at this hotel. They were always friendly and so willing to help you with anything you needed. I forgot my cell phone when I left and they mailed it to me within 3 days, free of charge!!! And they say nothing is free. Oh, and the complimentary breakfast was outstanding.

“Exactly what we needed for our trip”

I have absolutely no complaints. The room was a little small, but really, how much time are you going to be spending in the room anyway. The location is great, right in the gaslamp, the breakfast was way better than we expected, the rooms have a fridge and microwave... and the price was unbelievable for the location and amenities.

“They give you things!”

I was not really impressed with the room itself, though it wasn't bad at all. It was clean and stocked, and the room key opens the amenities closet so you can get your own stuff (shampoos, soaps, mouthwash. . . ) should you want it. They also give you free passes to use a gym (which I didn't have time to check out) and they gave us free passes to a local stip club, saved us $20 each on the cover charge there. You have to ask for these things, but they are available for free! How can you beat that?

“I would return to this hotel!”

All of the staff at this hotel (front desk, manager, maid service, and kitchen) were very helpful and quite attentive to personal requests and complaints. The only negatives are that you pay $18 nightly for parking and even though a room is listed as nonsmoking - it has been smoked in. If you are a smoker, you'll enjoy it even more!
