“Bad neighborhood/Poorly informed desk clerks”

I called this hotel before booking to see if there free shuttle would be running at 5a.m. to take us to the airport. I was told yes. When I checked in, I double checked to make sure the shuttle would be available the next morning at 5a.m. and again I was told yes. However, when we arrived at the front desk at 5am we were told that the shuttle didn't start running until 6am! We ended up having to pay $25.00 for a taxi and we almost missed our flight as we had to wait for the taxi to finally arrive! The bathroom also reeked of cigarette smoke and the air conditioner leaked water on to the tile floor at night so that in the morning, my toddler slipped and injured himself. I have submitted a complaint to the hotel about all of these concerns, but a week later I am STILL waiting for a response. Very unsatisfied and I would NEVER stay here again!

“Going back again next year”

This is a gem just outside San Diego. The hotel's name has changed...it's actually a Clarion now, but it's the same hotel. It's conveniently located one block from the trolley station...and you can ride the trolley right downtown to all of San Diego's great shops and restaurants and Petco Park....the ride takes around 10 minutes. The hotel staff are friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel restaurant is tasty and reasonably priced, and the hotel bar has a happy hour with an excellent bartender who remembers everyone's names. It has a nice outdoor pool and hot tub, washers and dryers if you need them, and a small business centre if you need the use of a computer. It also has a shuttle that will take you to and from the airport for free, instead of paying a $40 taxi ride. This is a great place...this was our second visit, and when we return again next year we will stay here again.

“Great Staff!!”

The area was not that great and the room was noisy at night, as we had the room facing the bay, but the staff were awesome! They couldn't accommodate our early check-in but kept our bags locked away until we returned from shopping and provided us with a late check out. The lounge and restaurant staff, as well as the shuttle driver, were all very and friendly and helpful too!

“Not Impressed”

Bad location with a lot of road noise. Pictures online look way better than the hotel looks itself. Second night there our keys didn't work to get in the room and when we tried using the elevator the power went out so we had to take 7 floors of stairs. We had to wait about 30 minutes to get new keys and had to go up 7 floors of stairs because the elevator still didn't work. When we got to our room the keys still didn't work and had to go back down the stairs. Finally the security gaurd went up with us and the room finally opened up. We didn't even stay the night and just packed and found a better hotel.
