“Grant place to stay for Legoland.”
Don't be fooled by the shabby, motel like exterior, the room is clean and remodeled up to date. We spent two night there, and it is the most comfortable and convenient one among the three hotels we stayed for the trip (the other two are Hyatt and Mariott). There is a big outlet cross the street. Restauratns, food mart, 7-11, subway are all within walking distance. Shuttle bus to Legoland and a nice courtesy service provided, but you may need to wait for a while since they only have a minivan for the task. The only drawback is that it is very close to the highway 5, and you may be able to hear the traffic. Our room is facing the local streets and outlet. Even though it's still somewhat noisy, with the door close, we can barely hear things. You do have to access the room from outside comparing to nice/fancy lobby access of the hotel. If that is an issue, then by all means, bypass it.
“Great Hotel”
This was a great hotel. Updated furniture in the rooms and although the hotel is close to a freeway, the insulation in the rooms is superb so you don't hear it. Everything is within walking distance except for the beach. Carlsbad outlet mall is right across the street and plenty of restaurants and fast food in close proximity. The beach is about a 5 minute drive. I will definitely stay there again.
“Would definitely stay here again”
My son and i were very happy with the hotel. My son loved it so much that he declared that he wanted to live there. Our room was clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They had a convenient shuttle service to and from legoland and a free breakfast every morning. It was a very pleasant and relaxi.ng stay
“Good experience.”
Conveniently located in a quiet area between San Diego and L.A., a short drive from the beach. Comfortable rooms, free wireless, heated pool, free breakfast, attractively landscaped grounds. Friendly desk staff, even sold me stamps for my postcards out of her own stash. Only complaints: bad coffee and got a little tired of omelettes in the warmer after four mornings, but good sausages! Eat at Harbor Fish Cafe on the beach!
“Family vacation”
The location for us was great - Starbucks across the street and the outlets were fun too. We did not use the pool but the children from the other guests loved it. Staff was very helpful and courteous. We enjoyed our stay and we will probably stay there again if we are in the area. Close to the beach and out of the hustle and bustle of San Diego. But San Diego is not far away and parking was easy to find. Favorite place to eat was Fred's in Old Towne.
“AWESOME LOCATION!!!”
When we first pulled up, the hotel looks a little old--it's a Bavarian-type hotel. But when we saw the inside of our room, we were really presently suprised. Everything looked brand new =) VERY pleasant stay and the location was PERFECT. Food, shopping within walking distance and Legoland was a short drive away. We will definitely stay there again!
“Beautiful Pool and Hot Tub”
Excellent hotel! and I am very picky! The outside looked a little run down at night but the room was up to date and beautiful. the beds were very comfortable and the back door opened up to a small patio and the pool area/hot tub. Pool is heated so it was warm and the hot tub was very nice. Very convenient to go swimming, just step outside the back door. There were beautiful trees attracting hummingbirds, just lovely! Room was very clean. Everyone was very helpful at hotel and nice. An unexpected gem. Breakfast buffet is ok.
“The grounds were clean and tailored!”
Horrible neighbors above us. Kids or who ever kept jumping on the floor all through the night. Call the front desk and it stopped for a while. Then started again. Was surprised that a $75 deposit had to be given for Internet access. Why? That sounds like ancient history these days!!!
“San Diego stay”
We loved the hotel. It was very comfortable and very impressed with the cleanliness. It was close to the beach and the surrounding neighborhood was great. Lots of places to eat. The only thing I would have improved the experience is the breakfast buffet. It was kind of limited in selection and the eggs were like egg frisbees. Other than that it was great.
“Great stay”
Very pleasurable stay across street from palomar airport. Airport noise not noticable. Suites are big comfortable. Plentiful breakfast and comp dinner 4 nights per week are a plus. Closest stores are 3 miles away though but not a downer.
