“Great Location!”

The hotel has a great location, right in the middle of La Jolla. Breakfast is provided from 7 am - 10 am.

“Adequate”

Adequate, though a little tired. Very good location in the middle of La Jolla, onsite parking ($12/nite) is a plus. Beds/pillows not up to current standards and towels on the el cheapo side. Reasonable breakfast selection (actually better than many at this price), overall a good value.

“good customer service”

Our first room was right next to the pool gate & breakfast room and it was screaming loud all day.In the early morning the gate was so annoying. They did change our room for the second day.

“Great Location for the Price”

We stayed at this hotel for a wedding at the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla. It was so close we could walk easily which was great. It was also a very short walk to fun restaurants, bars, and the beach. We ended up making two separate reservations so the first night, a Saturday, we were in a room on the first floor which was right next to the lobby and looked out onto the parking lot. It was also next to a workroom so it was pretty loud. The parking lot was also very crowded on the weekend. They have overflow across the street, but only at night. Sunday-Tuesday we were on the 5th floor and the experience was much better. Quiet and more private with a partial ocean view. The the front desk staff wasn't very helpful. They didn't tell us how to get to our room or what the procedure would be for switching rooms, but that is a unique situation. The room decor is outdated, circa 1990, but the lobby is very modern. The continental breakfast was in a room that opened up to the pool and they had a nice selection of hot and cold breakfast items. Overall, it was the perfect match for us. Reasonably priced and right where we wanted to be.

Dowtown La Jolla has a lot to offer. Coastal access, great restaurants, shopping, and bars.

“Convenient La Jolla Inn”

Best Western Plus chain has once again added a nice inn to their inventory. The inn location let's you experience the natural beauty of La Jolla Cove within walking distance and at an afforadable price. The lobby renovation is comtemporary and classy and we definitely noticed the comfort of the new bed in our room. It's definitely an older hotel and in need of other updating but overall the stay was comfortable, convenient, and priced right.

Area recommendations

La Jolla for its natural beauty. Gas Lamp District for it's coastal yet urban setting and surrounding eateries.

“good if on a budget”

I was very happy with the hotel location,right smack in the center of la jolla.we didnt have to drive anywhere.I wasnt impressed with the front desk people very dry and not very accomadating or informative.Our room seemed clean and well kept but as I walked in I noticed a fowl oder..like oily B.O I had to spray the room with my parfume just to feel comfy.No microwave or fridge either..bummer.They did however have a nice breakfast room with friendly ladies and a good selection of food items..Oh and the coffee in the room wasnt bad..I`m pretty picky! I would stay here again but will bring my lysol and room freshner next time.

“Location, location, location”

Compared to any other hotel in La Jolla this was by far the best price for the location. Three minute walk to the ocean, right in downtown, walk to every type of restuarant imaginable. Two compaints, you had to pay extra for parking ($12/day) and the complimentary breakfast was sparse.

“I went back this motel to stay”

I really like the locaton of this motel. We walked everywhere in La Jolla cove area. Only problem was a noise from outside and some from nextdoor at night. But the room was kept very clean and the car parking was convenient being self parking.

Area recommendations

La Jolla cove area and San Diego Zoo. The La Jolla cove area is a very peaceful and beautiful and specially the walk along the cliff looking at the tidal waves are really fun. The drive to San Diego zoo is not a long one and if you have children you must go there. My husband and I really enjoyed it and I loved all the trees and flowers as well.

“Better than adequate”

The good: proximity to La Jolla downtown and to the beach; reasonable rates for the area; king room comfortably spacious; street quiet at night; excellent bed. The bad: inadequate parking for the hotel. Mitigated by free overnight parking on city streets. This was okay for two highly mobile adults, maybe not for a family with small children or for people with mobility challenges. The manageable: at these rates, and with no restaurant in the hotel, every room ought to have a refrigerator. Request it by calling the hotel, not through Expedia. Small, street-side pool; half the rooms have no view. Very minor maintenance issues with the room. Overall a good value but we will stay somewhere else next time since rates were not quite low enough to make up for inconveniences (we are spoiled).

Area recommendations

We recommend staying in La Jolla when visiting attractions in the San Diego area, as long as budgets allow. It is a charming small community, very walkable, with many excellent restaurants and a beautiful waterfront, less than a half-hour drive from Balboa Park. Those with mobility problems or on a tight budget are cautioned, though; and activities for kids are pretty much limited to hotel pools or to the beaches.

Getting there

Driving southbound, exit to Del Mar instead of going through the nightmarish 5/805 junction. Drive down through Del Mar to North Torrey Pines Road and you will be much more relaxed when you reach La Jolla. Driving northbound from San Diego, the Mission Bay route takes only about twice as much time as the freeway and offers plentiful sights as well as watering holes.
