“A Litlle Gem of a Hotel”
In San Diego on business. I could not get anything near downtown for a reasomable price due to the ComicCon convention in San Diego. So I stayed in this little hotel next to the I-8 freeway, 30 minutes from downtown. Very friendly staff, clean room, well landscaped location...who knew, but now I do and I will stay again when and if needed. minuses- no elevators (only two floors though) that I could see and some smoking by persons outside that came in through the air conditioning
“Good Service”
The Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was adequate and clean. Its a good location to center you activities from for the Alpine area.
“good service. Needs updating. Especially air conditioning”
Good Service and responsive. Area a little rough. Rooms could use updating. Especially the air conditioning. Really loud
“Nice for the price”
More of a motel than a hotel. The room was clean, but not great quality - they had a piece of cloth tacked up to hide the plumbing under the sink. Rooms aren't very large, but have a very comfortable bed, much better than I expected for the price. The continental breakfast isn't the quality you can get a lot of other places, but it is more than just danish and coffee. Overall, it's somewhere I wouldn't mind staying again, but wouldn't go out of my way to do so. If your true destination is San Diego, be aware that it's about a 30 minute drive each way.
“4 part vacation”
good location, refuge from the children at a good price.
“Ayres Alpine is Pretty Good”
Decent hotel, but room had an unusually small bathroom, which was not to my liking. Hotel and maintenance staff were generally couteous and efficient, although on a couple of occasions, I rang the front desk and nobody answered. The wireless Internet service was free and dependable.
“Best option in the zone”
Good services for the price
“The good and bad of it......”
The Ayres Inn in Alpine is a little older than the other Ayres Inns. Felt more like a motel look due to all the doors open away from the building. Another disappointing aspect was there was no WiFi in our room. We mentioned it to the front desk, and all they did was apologize. The complimentary newspaper was basically one paper that is in the lobby, and I do mean one. When I asked about the newspaper, the front desk personal mentioned the one they had must have been taken by another guest. Later, an employee brought three more papers because I was not the only one who asked about it. One last gripe was they served cookies, and we learned that from the casino driver, not the Ayres Inn employees. Did not know when the cookies were served, which would have helped with my disappointed mood of the place. We never did have a chance to have any cookies. Despite my gripes, I did like the staff. They allowed us to use the computer in the lobby, and were very polite, just not too effective. The shuttle to the casion/outlet center was great and handy. Nice lobby with a very friendly cat. Breakfast was okay, but eating area was small. My wife and I ate in the lobby instead, which had plenty of room. Probably would not return, unless they update the rooms.
“Only option in Alpine”
Considering it's the only place to stay in Alpine it's okay. The room was average. The breakfast was nice; a good selection of things. The staff was friendly.
“Not so special!”
The check in process was slow. The main office is quaint, but the rooms are dull. Not practical for a business traveler. The air conditioner would not cool the rroom, really hot when I checked in. The bed was pretty good. I would not stay there again.
