“Nice San Antonio”
Nice hotel. Very quiet and super helpful staff.
“I would definitely recommend this hotel”
The only qualms I had about our hotel was that our room was very dimly lit and there was not a personal refrigerator in the room. Regardless, I loved this hotel. It was located right across from the convention center, the staff was extremely nice, and they had an adorable Mastiff that I loved petting as I came and went.
“Better than another chain hotel”
This is the way to do a conference at the San Antonio convention center. Located almost across the street from the center you are close to River Walk and Little Rhein Restaurant which is amazing. It is like a B&B which is nice after the Marriot, Holiday Inn routine. Antiques in rooms and hallways, nice size rooms, decent Italien restaurant in building. It has wifi and flat screen TVs which is nice in a B&B type, It also was cheaper than most of the big chains.
“Charming, but not enchanting”
The Fairmount is a beautiful old hotel that deserves a few improvements and a few more customers! It has all the charm of an old, renovated hotel, plus most of the amenities one would expect. An exception is the lighting in the room. Reading lights by the bed are an absolute necessity but the Fairmount's were totally inadequate and really cast a figurative and literal shadow over an otherwise very nice little hotel. Luke the dog is getting old but his presence in the lobby is a nice touch. Staff were friendly. Hotel was very clean. It was quiet. Location is great.
“Wonderful stay.”
It was great to stay where people stayed a hundred years ago. It makes you imagine how it was then. Could use new mattresses, woke up with back aches. But everything was great.
“Old S. A.”
This hotel is a really nice place to go if you are looking for a memorable and 'different' experience. We enjoyed it since all the chain hotels seem the same. Room was very clean and all staff very polite and helpful.
“Very quaint and has a lot of charachter”
I found this hotel to be a nice change from the norm of the mega hotel chain types and very refreshing to stay at. It was convenient to the main riverwalk areas, had good service and the room had a balcony that was nice to be able to view the area from. There is a very nice little courtyard and the serve Starbucks brand coffee you can enjoy out there in the mornings. Rooms and hotel has fine antiques all over and a historic feel to it that made yoy feel you were in older times. The room had high ceilings and mouldings as well and a tapestry above the bed. the only downside I fount was the valet parking ($21) parked my vehicle somewhere that a massive amount of sap from trees was covering it when I had it returned upon departure which dissapointed me. Sap is difficult to remove and not good for the finish. For $21 I would expect covered parking and no sap all over my car. I give this hotel a 4 star rating still though and reccomend it.
“Impressive”
Quality hotel!
“Not overly impressed”
This was supposed to be a 4-star hotel. They gave us a room that was on slanted foundation (our whole room slanted down, including the bed and t.v.) As a result of the slanted bed, we woke up each morning with terrible back pain. Our room was VERY small, and I we were supposed to have 2 queen beds, we had one. The shower door did not close all the way, so it water soaked the floor each time, and our faucet leaked to the point that the water pooled and soaked our toilet paper roll. On the 3rd night I asked to switch rooms as I am 7.5 months preganant. They acted like they had no idea that our room was on a slant. They did however upgrade us to a very nice suite for our last night. I just wish that we could have been given a better room to begin with--given that I am so pregnant! Also, they had NO movie channels or pay per view on the t.v. We spent a LOT of time in our room this vacation and it is the first time ever that I was SO disappointed with that aspect of our vacation. It was our last anniversary before the baby arrives and I really needed & wanted to rest and relax in a comfortable room. I was bummed that we only had one night of comfort!
“Charming, but old.”
This hotel was built in 1905 and moved six blocks in one piece. It has some age on it and could use a good coat of paint. The furniture was beautiful old antiques. There was also a rumor that it was haunted. A great place to go if you want adventure and do not want a standard hotel.
