Great location close to airport and San Jose, excellent and very friendly staff.
I have only good words except that we had reserved a room with 2 beds and wheelchair accessible. It appeared that they do not have that despite what it is said on the webpage.
Stayed here two nights on either end of our trip in Costa Rica. Very nice grounds, excellent staff, good breakfast, huge room. No complaints. Breakfast once was buffet (juice, fruits, eggs, gallo pinto, toast) and the other time was a choice of plated breakfast (traditional, omelet, huevos rancheros and one more I dont' remember). The buffet was better to me, but either way the breakfast was a nice inclusion with great coffee and a fabulous terrace setting. If back near the airport with a car I would 100% choose the El Rodeo.
This hotel would actually be a three star by Canadian standards, as the room was quite tiny but the bathroom was very nice (size of half the room) and the room was clean. We had to leave to the airport very early (at 4) and the staff prepared us sandwiches and fruit to take with us as well as a shuttle that was on time to drive us there. The first room we were given was right beside the sitting area with a party of 10 teenagers. It honestly sounded like they were in our room. I was very happy the front desk had no problem switching us to another room so that we could have a restful sleep.
Very nice hotel, not luxury, but a very good one to stay. It has some advantages over other hotels in the area, free wifi, breakfast and transportation included. The staff is very nice and can recomend good tours depending on what you are looking.

An excellent and convenient central Costa Rican location between San Jose and the airport, do not be fooled by the location …More
Stayed here one night before going to the airport to fly home to UK the next day. Ate an ok meal in the restaurant for dinner and spent the day by the lovely pool. Geared towards business customers which makes this more of a corporate experience but is perfectly situated to get to the airport in under 20 mins. They offer a free shuttle from 8am to 1pm which will save you 5000 colones per person for a cab. Also around 20 mins to San Jose city if you want to visit which we did not.
Pedro and Anita were very accommodating during our (3 family member) 5 night stay at Hotel Puerta del Sol.
Shopping (for groceries and otherwise) at the Cariari Mall nearby was available. The hotel is near the airport and the room was very clean and comfortable. The A/C worked perfectly although was not really necessary at this time of year in the Costa-Rican Central Valley. The amply sized room had a wide variety of cable channels a ceiling fan as well. The Hard Rock Cafe was nearby too!
Hotel Puerta del Sol is priced in a manner that is proper, unlike some of the hotels in the San Jose vicinity. I recommend the hotel wholeheartedly. Pura Vida!
Surrounded by mountains, San Antonio de Belen is in the Central Valley region, just minutes by bus from Alajuela and downtown San Jose. The town is home to 2 modern malls, 6 movie theaters, and numerous bars, coffee shops, and discotheques. Ojo de Agua is the town’s most visited attraction, featuring numerous swimming pools fed by water from an underground river.
