Amazing oasis among walled-off private condos. A tranquil tropical garden around the pool, Latin music in a low volume lounge mode, and really unique artsy design of the 2-level rooms. Reviews complain about a walk to the town center in between concrete fended - yes, but that is a true Dominican experience as opposed to the artificial world of all-inclusive resorts. We like to combine both worlds on a single trip. Personnel is very courteous and welcoming. If you like latin dancing (salsa / bachata) and good cocktails, I recommend Mosquito bar - the very first venue you encounter when you walk. (Can also park nearby). It gets lively closer to midnight, with really good dancers. A little further along the shore the beach club restaurant is nice, and an ice-cream shop behind it

Nice but be aware.
First with the good: The grounds were beautiful as was the pool. The staff were kind and respectful however English was not easily understood. The bed was comfortable and the outside sitting area was lovely and quiet. The negatives: The shower head in unit2 had no pressure, the bracket holding the shower head was broken. Lots of ambient light at night making it challenging to sleep. The distance to the beach was more like 450m through a concrete walled laneway. Breakfast was small and plain but nicely served. Drinking water was not provided on a daily basis which should have been without an additional fee.

Gentle and friendly.
Warm and friendly staff. Good breakfast. Lovely pool. The hotel pics do not do justice to the garden or setting. 400 meter walk to the best beach around as it is wide and you can escape the terrible traffic noise from quads, motorbikes, mopeds, blowing engines. It is in a good quiet area too, so tranquil. I think our room is in the process of an update as the floor looked very worn and dirty, but was not…..It is just in need of a good paint like the rest of the bathroom. Mini bar, snacks and meals available. Good value for families too as there were 3 single beds up in the open area upstairs of the studio. Very decent and caring staff. They were all charming.

A few minutes walk to the beach and a good restaurant. The owner organised a taxi from Santo Domingo airport for us, and also to the bus station when we left. Bathroom could do with a bit of updating but was fine.

The bad: This hotel needs major improvement in general. Walls have mold and cracks. Bathrooms have mildew. Mattresses are old, hard, and very uncomfortable. The Good: The restaurant cooks dinner a la carte and food is delicious. Hotel owner, Mauricio, is very nice, always available and very helpful. Maria, and all the staff is very nice and helpful.

This is a small residence style hotel , each room is located within its individual small structure on two levels the upstairs has extra beds for families and the main has a main bedroom the bathroom is ok and the place also has a sit down patio, the pool is nice with lounge chairs and very clean the small restaurant is very good and reasonable, service is limited but it's very relaxing you are about 5-10 minutes walking distance from.beach and all restaurants night life tennis etc.. Owner is French so place is clean and well kept. Bedding is comfortable and limited linen.

Amazing and perfect stay.
It was really amazing because "La Tortuga" hotel has a lot of charm because it isn't a big touristic structure so you can enjoy moment and calm as you do at your home. Employee are really nice and always smiling. The hotel is secured. The breakfast is made from fresh fruit. I would recommend this hotel.

A soothing refuge to explore Las Terrenas
Arrived exactly at check-in time (3pm) and was greeted warmly by hotel personnel. The check-in process was the fastest I've ever experienced. I had enough time, that afternoon, to wander around town and, of course, hit the beach, which is just a short walk(4 min) from the hotel. The property is a big garden flanked with cabins with a medium sized pool occupying the center. A complimentary breakfast is served each morning from 8-11am which is comprised of two courses: First, minced tropical fruits, natural juice (passion fruit) and then, scrambled or fried eggs along with fresh baked bread. The cabin is equipped with A/C, hot water, small refrigerator, TV with premium cable programming. To be honest, I was not feeling well when I arrived (work stress, the flu, etc) but after only a day of staying there, all the symptoms vanished. The owner must be very proud of hotel's staff that takes very good care of the guests. I will definitely go back to this hotel.

Great Place
The size of this hotel make it a perfect spot for a relaxing family vacations. It's a 2 min walk to the beach and countless of restaurants. Special mention for the XO restaurant, a bit expensive but the food is amazingly good! Las Terrenas is a friendly place, it feels safe, it's quiet and the beaches are gorgeous! The breakfast at the hotel was good, nothing fancy but fresh fruits everyday is always appreciated. We tried the restaurant twice, the food and service were good. Maurizio, the owner, is friendly and helpful.

Que la piscina sea sucia no es en lo absoluto la verdad, tenemo una empresa que se ocupa de esto y el jardinero la limpia cada dia, y mas somos particularmente orgullosos de tener una piscina en perfecto estado.
