Friendly staff able to converse with this non-German speaking couple. Property and facilities immaculate. Original Sound of Music house a short hike away. Bus service into Salzburg a 2 block walk. Top notch restaurant. Highly recommend this property.

The staff was extremely friendly and the views were amazing. The only thing I would have changed would be the beds, they were a bit stiff. Outside of that, we had a lovely stay there.

Views are the best part
The view and the pools are the best things about this place. It’s a distance out of the city, but close to a bus stop. Be warned - the rooms have no aircon and no fan, so on humid summer nights sleep is almost impossible. We had to leave the windows open, hearing everything outside, and drench ourselves in mosquito repellent. The mattresses are hard, and the pillows are completely flat. Decor hasn’t been updated in decades. The amount of religious iconography on the walls throughout makes you feel as if you might have inadvertently booked a stay in a convent. Breakfast is very hit and miss - when we stayed, anything that ran out was never replaced, even early in the service. If you’re planning a stay here, probably best to stick to the cooler months.

We are sorry you did not like it - we stick with our tradition and renovate all in old style, if you do not like historic old buildings in old style you are probably not in the right place - have no cross etc. on the walls exept Petrus - with keys - kind of fits in the staircase. Sometimes we get run over at breakfast and all guests come together - than it takes a while to replace but never to long. Sorry for that! There are soft tops for the matrasses available - it is easier to make hard ones soft - but not possible to make soft ones hard - Family Schnöll

Must stay
A lovely family run hotel in a suburb of Salzburg. A very quiet location with great views of the local hills. Yet only 15 mins into the centre. The resturant is superb with excellent fine dining. Highly recommended

Friendly and serene hotel with beauty and history
We were looking forward to seeing Salzburg, but had no idea our hotel would be the joy it was. There is a great family history and is still run by the caring family. The dinner was so delicious it rivaled to be the best on our trip!!!

Very relaxing atmosphere
We really enjoyed the atmosphere and charm of this hotel. The staff was wonderful, the pool was great and the breakfast was very nice. The location was close enough to the city to be convenient, but far enough away to be quiet. We would definitely stay there again.

The service was excellent, great breakfast in the morning, and the property is absolutely adorable! But, the beds are hard as a rock, and the pillows consist of nothing making it feel like you are using a blanket to support your head. The shower pressure was awful and worsened as you turned up the temperature. So, you had find a balance between good water pressure and a warm shower.

We stayed for two nights. Although the hotel is outside the city, the local transportation was frequent and close by. The hotel staff were hospitable and gave recommendations. The room was spatios with balcony. The shower facility needs updating. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty. We recommend this hotel on your next trip to Salzburg

Exceptional stay!
We wanted to stay at a local gasthaus, not an international hotel. Doktorwirt was perfect. The room was large and spacious, even for three adults. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom clean. Backyard courtyard was relaxing. Lots of charm in this family-owned location. We'll strongly recommend this to our friends traveling to Salzburg!

The breakfast served at this hotel was very nice. And the pool and outdoor areas were great! Unfortunately we were a bit unhappy with the bed, as it was quite hard and the pillows were very soft and thin! The room was well cleaned every day and all staff were friendly and helpful!

The Doktorwirt is in a nice neighborhood outside of Salzburg proper, siting at the base of a beautiful mountain. You can easily access hiking as well as the Salzburg bus system (a 3 minute walk from a bus station). The owners are amazingly friendly and helpful. We were even offered a free ride to a local attraction! Very nice. On Expedia the sauna is listed as a hotel amenity, but in truth it is an extra charge per person, so I was disappointed in that as that was one of the reasons I chose the hotel (I was looking for places with saunas and breakfast included), but that's more of a problem with Expedia. The breakfast is very nice. The rooms are small but ample. The beds are very firm. And if you stay, I would request a room facing their lovely garden (which, by the way has a gorgeous mountain view in the back), otherwise the views are just of the street.

Charming B&B near Salzberg
We onl viewsy stayed one night, and wished that we had more time to relax and enjoy this charming B&B/spa near Salzberg. The road approaching the hotel is very ordinary, but the hotel sits on a large lot with an outdoor patio , and lawn, in addition to the outdor and indoor pool, with views of the mountains near Salzberg.

Nice resort near Salzberg
We loved our brief stay in the Doctorvirt. The grounds are open with a beautiful view of the foothills. The spa and indoor pool looked appealing but we did not have time to use them. Our hosts spoke excellent English. The historic center of Salzberg is a few kilometers by bus or car.

This was a wonderful place to stay. It is just outside of the city, so it is quiet. The decor was beautiful and clean. The staff was friendly. The pool and breakast was nice. I would definetly stay there again.

Totally outstanding
This Hotel was excellent in every department. From location to cleanliness, food to friendliness i cannot fault this wonderful Austrian gem. Direct location for trails up into the mountains, 15min direct bus ride into the old town of Salzburg and a building which delights in it's nooks and crannies and all round wood panelling. Food was all local and fresh and excellently cooked...i had one of the set menu's .... The staff were all very helpful as well. I had set off with no intention of going to Austria but my original travel plans were disrupted by the refugee crisis. It's strange how things turn out...probably the best hotel I've ever stayed in..i'm already trying to work out some time off to go back for a longer stay.

Decent Hotel but not worth the price
Our family stayed here for two nights last week and we only had two complaints. The beds were not that comfortable and we we're unable to obtain a rollaway bed, which I had emailed the hotel staff two weeks prior and confirmed. We were forced to book an additional single room, which to me is bad customer service. It wouldn't have been so bad if they did not confirm via email that a rollaway bed would have been available. The rest of the hotel was very nice comparative to the area. The pools were nice and the hotel staff was helpful. We do not have any other hotels around Salzburg to compare it to, but many of the hotels in Germany we stayed at were cheaper and provided us with rollaway beds without a problem.

Nice quiet retreat with short bus ride to downtown
Everything about Doktorwirt was great: the people, the facilities, the neighborhood, the great view from the room, the restaurant, the breakfast, the cleanliness, and the short walk to public transit. Why live in a noisy downtown hotel when you get all of this in a peaceful out-of-the-way corner of Salzburg (called Aigen)? We stayed five nights and enjoyed all of it. I could go on and on, but everything I say would be a very positive superlative! We would definitely come back here for another stay.

No Dr required, just a chiro.
Great food, staff friendly and helpful. The only negative was the bed. I had a single and found it very uncomfortable. The pillow was too soft providing no support to the head and the mattress and frame gave me many hours of poor sleep. A minor point but the shower could do with a fixture to hold soap or shampoo etc. Great hotel otherwise but the bed was awful.

Nice hotel with easy travel into the city
Great hotel if you are looking for a city break with the benefit of a swimming pool and countryside views. Bus stop very close to hotel with a frequent service into the centre of Salzburg. Can recommend the Salzburg Ticket which covers museum entry and local transport. Evening meals on the terrace of the hotel- food excellent

Wir kamen sehr spät an und wurden trotzdem herzlichst begrüßt und erhielten noch eine warme Mahlzeit. Das Personal war immer super freundlich, zuvorkommend. Der Ausblick vom Zimmer aus sensationell, das Zimmer top, das Restaurant sehr traditionell und die Küche lecker. Man konnte von 7.30 - 22.00 Uhr den Wellnessbereich mit Innenpool nutzen. Wir waren sehr zufrieden.

le personnel est vraiment très aimable. L'hotel est calme, et le cadre vraiment superbe. le fait d'être en dehors de Salzbourg est vraiment un plus. L'accès à la ville se fait très facilement en bus .

Das Personal ist stets freundlich und gut gelaunt egal wieviel los ist. Es steht einem immer mit Rat und Tat zur Seite. Die Speisekarte ist etwas Rindfleischlastig, jedoch sind die Speisen sehr gut und die Nachspeisen sehr empfehlenswert. Den Tip mit den Öfi in die Stadt zu fahren hat uns einer der Kellner gegeben, wekcher sehr gut war. Man ist in nichtmal 15min in der Altstadt unweit des Sternbräus wenn man bis Hanuschplatz mit der Linie 7 fährt. Ist auch billiger als die Garage und nicht mal 5min vom Hotel entfernt. Wrrden im Frühjahr wieder kommen.

Wunderschönes Hotel. 2 gute Restaurants in der Nähe, zu Fuss erreichbar. Busstation ins Zentrum um die Ecke.

das Hotel ist anscheinend in neuen - bei weitem nicht mehr so guten, Händen wie ehemals. Für die internet Angebote wie ihres werden die schlechten Zimmer angeboten - das war alles sehr ärgerlich

Good place for making excursions nearby
Accommodation was good. One big minus was that restaurant was open only the night we arrived. Three other nights it was closed; also no cafe/bar services were available. I suggest you take a kettle/water cooker with you as we did. Wifi was not available in our room, although it should have been everywhere in hotel area.

Thank you for staying with us and SORRY - we have to give our workers free before the festival time starts - as we will have long hours at this time and we want to keep our fantastic waiters maids .... here nobody wants to work in the hotel business when there are to many over hours - we have to keep them happy. Ruhiges Hotel am Stadtrand von Salzburg. Sehr gute Busverbindung ins Stadtzentrum. Sehr freundliches Personal. Sehr gutes Restaurant. Praktischer Aussenpool für heiße Tage wurde von uns genutzt, aber auch Innenpool und Fitnessraum.gutes Preis-Leistung-Verhältnis. Weiterzuempfehlen!

The BEST hotel
I REALLY LOVED TO STAY THIS HOTEL. If I had chance, I definitely visit this hotel again. Love every decoration in this hotel and service was perfect. Also I LOVED the breakfast.
