“Good hotel for the price”

We stayed for 2 nights in the hotel in order to do some trips to the Monterey and Big Sur area. The room was a bit small, but comfortable - had everything we needed, including fridge, micro, coffee machine. The coffee machine was not working but replaced promptly to a new one the next morning. The only thing that I didn't like is the fan in the bathroom being very noisy. Breakfast was fine - had also waffles. Hotel was very good for the price we paid.

“Okay stay”

I had gone to this hotel many times, but had not been there for over a year. It has declines some during that year. But the room was clean, the bed was comfortable.

“Cheap, but not very good”

I realize that rooms here are cheaper than most hotels in the Monterey area, but the room was nothing to write home about either. The hotel and the furniture are quite old, the A/C in the room had no thermostat (just an on/off for hot/cold), the TV was ancient and very round, the bathroom area was poorly laid out and space was tight, etc. On the plus side, the room had a mini-fridge and microwave, and the included breakfast and Internet were nice. The staff were also helpful. Just know that if you stay here, you're getting what you pay for (which is not much).

“Not Impressed”

I had never stayed at a Howard Johnson before, and never will again. There were two queen beds so jammed in the room you could barely make it to the restroom/changing area. The shower/tub was filthy. I was simply less than impressed and will avoid other Howard Johnsons when possible.

“Clean, basic accommodations”

The hotel is basic, clean, but ready for renovation. The room is fine for budget minded people that want something decent but nothing more than basic accommodations. The breakfast is simple but satisfying. The place is good if you just need a clean place to stay.

“Never stay here again”

The experience was very disappointing.
