“Hôtel à recommander”
Petit hôtel traditionnel très agréable, personnel sympathique, bon petit déjeuner, garage ; un bémol cependant : assez loin du centre de Salerne
“Friendly and comfortable hotel; good value”
Stayed in June while attending a conference. The hotel is located in a primarily residential area, surrounded by apartment blocks, about 2.5 km south of the station and the 'old' town centre, 1 block from the beachfront so very few rooms with a view of the sea. The room we occupied was reasonably large with middle-of-the range furniture; bathroom was large (although small shower recess). Continental breakfast provided good variety; excellent coffee. The delight was the large lounge / breakfast room. It was fitted out like someone's comfortable living room - sofas, paintings, china cabinets, magazines, books about local attractions and daily newspapers (all in Italian, but good to look through), large screen TV (positioned so you don't have to look at it), and internet port.
“Great hotel”
Hotel staff provided friendly service, rooms all clean and well equipped. Hotel is well positioned. Only gripe we had (a very small one at that), was the lack of stock in the bar in the evening. But then, this was made up for with the quality of the hotel, and will certainly go back.
“Very helpful”
Convenient for our needs. The reception staff were very helpful.
“Functional and characteristic hotel for those on a budget”
The hotel had lovely accommodating staff and the character of the hotel far exceeded what you'd expect for the cost. The food at breakfast was varied and of a good quality, plenty good enough for any stay. The rooms are kept clean and have are great value, the beds we found a little firm for our liking, but we still seemed to sleep long enough! The area, although not special, was pleasant enough, safe to walk around and not too noisy bearing in mind the location being so central, however the walk to town is long, so the bus is a neccessary, but cheap and easy solution. Would definately recommend for the service alone.
“Well Located Good value For Money Hotel”
Only a few minutes' walk from the sea front and with a good bus service with stops just a few metres from its entrance and plenty of shops, Hotel K is conveniently siutated for Salerno city centre. The room we had was comfortable , furnished in traditional style and quite spacious. It had a fridge, a very small TV ( with not always a good reception and a limited number of channels) and a good sized bathroom with shower. The buffet breakfast was quite generous by Italian standards, with plenty of fruit. However, the food was not always replenished when the hotel was busy. We never stayed hungry, however. The lounge had an old feel, well furnished and supplied with numerous books on the local area and access to the internet..
“Salerno Hotel”
Quiet, clean, comfortable hotel and reasonably priced. A little out of town and hidden somewhat but worth finding. Secure underground parking a big plus. Recommended.
“Hotel K”
This hotel was good value for money. Clean and comfortable.
“Hotel basic, far from sites”
I am glad we had a taxi pick us up from the train station because it was difficult to get to the hotel. My husband didn't care for the view of other apartments with laundry in balconies but I found it very italian and he was a little worried of the metal rolling balcony door we had to put down at night, I wasn't concerned about this and found it unique. The service was basic and we only stayed one day so I don't have a full opinion of it. However, the breakfast was nice. The only reason I would not go back to the hotel would be because of it's distance from Salerno's beautiful sights. It was very close to the ocean so a daily walk would have a nice view, even though the beach needs a good cleaning. It definitely helps to speak at least basic Italian, I was pretty sure the older man behind the counter, morning and night, did not speak English.
“Enjoyable Humble Retro Experience - Too Pricey”
It's a little warn and tired but it has a certain charm and if it wasn't so pricey it would actually be quite acceptable. Hotel staff were efficient. The breakfast buffet service was good, the food was fresh, the coffe fresh and hot and the food offered was of a good and usual variety. Our room had a mini-bar, balcony, large bathroom w/shower...the room was of adequate and comfortable size for two ppl, the bed was quite uncomfortable and the room could use a fresh coat of paint. There was no noise from the street, the sound proofing was good and the TV was a little iffy. We didn't need to use the aircon so I can't comment on that. The location was far from the train station, but their were buses available on the next street. The proximity to the beach was excellent but as it was not beach season I cannot comment on the beach quality. The neighbourhood was friendly, with many restaurants, hairdressers, coffee bars, shops, grocery and take-out restaurants. We always felt safe walking in the neighbourhood day and night even though we are from a colder climate and our attire said "tourist" we never felt un-easy. Overall, comparing location and quality of accomodations to our Rome hotel of the same price we found the Hotel K to be over-priced for an inferior calibre hotel . I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel but I would not highly recommend it. I think this is an honest and fair accessment...I give it 2 to 3 stars...in terms of overall satisfaction.
