“Tucked away down by the docks”

They could do with a few signs showing you how to get to the hotel! Otherwise, nice hotel, lovely big rooms. Restaurant was closed at 7.30pm when we were there!!!

“Great location”

We enjoyed staying right on the waterfront in St. John, within walking distance to almost everything. The hotel was clean and modern. Breakfast is not automatically included, but we had the full buffet with our Expedia booking (normally $16.95). It was a full buffet with some very nice touches.

Area recommendations

Downtown if you want to be able to explore on foot.

“Not what I expect from a Hilton”

We reserved (and paid extra for) a room on the "club level". But on arrival, we were placed in an old room with beat up old furniture (and there was no club or lounge on the floor, as one would expect on a club level reservation). When I called the front desk to complain, they said club level means "Internet and breakfast". Uh, no... I've stayed at enough hotels to know club level means premium rooms and service, and you know, a club (or lounge). More frustrating than that, though, was the elevators. There are two tiny, slow elevators for a 200 room hotel. I waited, on average, between 2 and 7 minutes for an elevator. Staff and location are great. The physical property is just not up to snuff.

“Barking dogs and other loud noises”

I didn't know this at the time of booking but the hotel is dog-friendly. Some other guests had left their dogs in the room and went out for the evening. The dogs were barking and very disruptive. When I called the front desk to complain about the noise, they informed me that it is a dog friendly hotel, they were trying to locate the owners but were having difficulty, and there was not much they could do. This was 10:00 p.m. and went on for almost 2 hours. We also found the walls were paper thin and you could hear absolutely everything going on in adjacent rooms, hallways, in the restaurant/bar below, and out on the street. We have 2 small kids and the noise factor was a problem. Given how expensive the hotel is for Saint John, I would not recommend it. The cleaning staff were ; however, very friendly and helpful.

“Good standard chain hotel experience”

Very well located, within walking distance of most of what St. John has to offer. A little frayed around the edges but nothing that gave me any displeasure. Staff were nice and helpful.

“Way better than I ever expected!”

I was very impressed by the size of this hotel room, it was the size of a small suite. The bed was EXTREMELY comfortable and the linens were impeccable. I wasn't expecting to have to pay for parking - but the wonderful - full complimentary breakfast buffet more than made up for the parking cost. Note of caution - had trouble finding the hotel with our navigation system. The address did not come up correctly - but the hotel clerk gave us great driving instructions when we called!

“Great price”

For the price we paid, I couldn't ask for more. My only issue with the place was the price you pay to use the internet. It was a lovely hotel and it was in great spot.

“Glad I only stayed only one night”

This was the last stop on a driving vacation of the east coast of Canada. When we arrived the hotel was under construction where noise was a factor. We were given one of the renovated rooms which was poorly done. I expected more from a Hilton. I will not stay there when I travel to Saint John, NB again.
