“should have been taken down about a decade ago”

Exterior of his hotel sadly needs work, has a lobby apparently exclusively for the use or video gamblers, and is in a bad location.

“Good value for price”

The hotel is old, but somewhat maintained. I really enjoyed the location, as its a walking distance from uptown Saint John - 15 minute walk. The rooms have flat screen TVs. Overall, the hotel provides good value for its price compared to other hotels in saint johns. oh yeah, the internet was pretty slow though

“Should have slept in the car”

but then I would have been terrified all night because of the neighbourhood! Room smelled bad and was filthy. Dirt was even caked around the light switches. This hotel should not be on Expedia's list of places to stay. We selected it only because it was the only pet friendly motel available for stop over on our 9 day trip home, We didn't stay any longer than we had to, up and out of there by 6 the next morning and took a long hot bath as soon as I could though may never feel clean again. They should have paid us to stay there.

“Not Good.”

Upon arrival I was assessed $150.00 security for possible damages, which was refunded at check-out. Damages! The door to my room, and all others that I saw, was scratched, banged up, vineer chipped off; a strip of carpet missing between tile floor exposing cement underfloor; window weatherstripping hanging off; paint splatters on carpet, tissue box, tile floor; furniture old and banged up; only 1 chair in room; shower controls old and broken; 12"closet space. Nice flat screen TV. Desk clerk helped me up to my second floor room w/luggage, no elevator.

It was my first visit through St. John so I don't know enough about the area.

“Not Good”

Bad location. Decrepit condition. May be alright for work stays for labourers. Definitely not a vacation stopover. Saint John is not the Maritimes "garden spot", so consider your options carefully when you are on a budget. Got a suburban Comfort Inn and it was, as expected, very good.

Suburbs if you can't afford the high buck downtown places.

Nightlife

Restored Imperial Theatre is beautiful. It made our visit great. Interesting history in several spots, including King Square in the hear of downtown.

“This does not seems like motel just a temporary salter”

Place is very dirty. The star should be 0. This does not seems like motel just a temporary salter. Think twice before book it.

“Stay away and take off the Expedia list.”

The staff was inconsiderate and rude. There was NO hot water and there take on it was "Too Bad". No attempt at any compensation or consieration there of. There position was "You have to deal with Expedia" we have our money!

“Okay hotel about 20 minutes walking to the center”

The area of the hotel has nothing at all in it. It's just a busy street. The center is a 20 minute walk despite the fact that two people working at the hotel told me 10. I was walking fast, and it was definitely 20. The hotel is decent, but it's past its prime. It's okay for a 1 night stay though.

Downtown is the only area with anything in it for a tourist..

“Not Impressed”

Please be aware of 2.5-star is obviously different from 3-star. Everywhere of it looks like an old apartment in Toronto. No free breakfast, internet is only good at reception although to be said should work everywhere. My case was not soly since I saw many people were surfing internet at reception area.

“So-so”

The hotel is definitely affordable and easy to access from the highway.There is microwave access, which is nice, as is the discount on the buffet breakfast. The waitstaff at breakfast was very helpful. That said, the smoke detector in the room didn't work. I asked the front desk to look into it and they did not. One of the lamps was also broken and that was also not looked into. The front desk staff was reasonably polite, but not overly helpful. There is a mini-casino downstairs where smoking is allowed. The smoke permeates most of the first floor, including the restaurant. The hotel is located between two major thoroughfares, so if you are a light sleeper, highway noise is unavoidable. For the price I was reasonably satisfied but on our week and a half long trip, we stayed in other hotels booked on expedia in the same price range with which we were much happy.
