“Fun spot to spend a night in Sacramento.”

A beautiful property in a great Sacramento location. The room was wonderful, near lots of restaurants and in a great neighborhood for walking.

“beautiful, quaint, authentic sacramento old style hotel, with excellent customer service.”

A nicely positioned, well maintained hotel with a personal touch. A nice change from staying in a large, less original chain hotel, with a lovely breakfast in a small, personal setting.

“Good Experience, friendly management”

From the picture online, I did not realize that this was a bed and breakfast. It was a little difficult to find because the picture showed the Vizcaya Pavillion, not the B & B - and you have to ring the bell to get in to sign in. Then you get a key to your room and the front door. Also, on sight parking was inadequate and I had to park on the street. Other than that, the room was very comfortable, charming, and the hostess was very helpful in getting ice, a soft drink, and helping me connect to their wi-fi. I am glad I stayed there instead of a cookie cutter motel. Price was very reasonable.

“Viscaya - great location”

When we arrved, a wedding reception was taking place in the adjoining pavillion, so we had to park on the street. Stairs are not a problem for us, but if they were...lugging suitcases up the steep front steps to the door AND then also up the stair to our room would have been a problem. Room was furnished nicely with furniture of an era that fit the home. Queen bed, large chifrobe for hanging clothes, writing desk and a very small TV. Bottled water and snacks were on a tray in our room. Bathroom had a tub/shower unit and a pedestal sink. Nice towels and robes awaited. Breakfast was okay and hot scrambled eggs and another fresh cooked item was available daily along with cold cereal, yogurt, fruit, etc. Located in a residential area full of old homes, generally it was quiet and were able to park in Viscaya's small lot after the wedding was over. The home is showing it's age, wear and tear - possibly because it is used so often for wedding parties. Carpet needs to be replaced and for the money, I'd like to see them improve the breakfast a notch. This is a very convenient location and had much more charm that staying in a plain ole motel. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance and downtown is less than 2 miles away.

“Charming”

The reviews are split between people who have visited in connection with weddings, and those who were there for the lodging. I and a business colleague were there for lodging. I found the place on one of the travel websites, and read the mixed reviews. I took a chance and was pleasantly surprised. The old home is lovely - I cannot imagine what it would have been like to live there. My room was quite nice, and the breakfast was good. The neighborhood was quiet, and it was a short drive to our business function in downtown. It was less than half of the cost of the chain hotels, and I thought it was a bargain.

“Attractive bed-and-breakfast-style hotel”

Nice old Victorian home, plus wedding hall, in quiet neighborhood of similar homes. Friendly, informal staff. Good food. Comfortable rooms.
