“smile”
but I wish the people at the hotel would smile once in a while.
“An Inn with Character”
Thank goodness the hotel permits pets, we love traveling with our dog and we also enjoyed meeting John II! The hotel was quiet and its rustic English character was a pleasant experience. In addition, our room was large and comfortable. We had a good breakfast each morning, provided with the room fee. The hotel is near the ferry and the airport, so after a long drive to Vancouver and the ferry, it was a welcome respite before touring Victoria, etc., which is a 20 + minute drive away. There is also a scenic walking path not too far away which we enjoyed.
“quaint”
I liked it. Not your usual hotel. The breakfast room had old books and a fireplace. The continental breakfast was fine - your basic toast and cereal and fruit selection. I liked the British ambience.
“Good choice near Victoria airport”
Large, clean room, friendly service, easy drive to the airport. There are old books to occupy an adult and an older child in the evening in the library. Short walk to a beach. The heating system IS rather noisy and we didn't get a chance to play with the resident dog but we will stay again.
“Handy to the airport”
The attached pub has LOTS of tv's ... very important when a Stanley Cup final game is on the night you're staying. Staff were friendly and helpful, the wireless internet worked fine. Only quibble is the pillows -- 4 small square ones on the bed instead of two (or four!) normal size ones. We checked out at 5:30 am to catch our flight, just left the room cards on the desk with a nod at the desk clerk.
“Convenient Location”
Wanted to stop over at a place close to the ferry terminal and not far from Butterfly Gardens and Butchart Gardens (15 min) and Victoria (30 min) ... this hotel fits the bill.

Mgr. referred me to a Quality Inn in Vancouver where i could meet up with my relatives. Staff there was wonderful.

The Waddling Dog hotel by Quality Inns is based around the basset hound which is now in it's fifth generation. The decor inside is very antique yet has its own bar & restaurant. We enjoyed our stay.
“Convenient to Airport”
This hotel was convenient to the airport for an early morning departure. Both check-in and check-out were handled rapidly and pleasantly. The room was well laid out, comfortable desk with good lighting and an easy chair. We arrived late and were able to have a late dinner on site. Gas station to fill the rental car was adjacent to the hotel. Six am continental breakfast was adequate and handy for us to grab before heading to the airport. Only complaint was a 'musty' smell in lobby area. Area had had lots of rain lately and if smelled like damp carpet. The waddling dog was in residence behind the lobby counter and was charming. I'd stay again either arriving or departing.
