With the university and some of Hamburg's most attractive villas, Rotherbaum is a vibrant and prestigious address, particularly in the historic Pöseldorf quarter. Wide tree-lined avenues run parallel to the Alster, where there are numerous rowing clubs. The famous Rotherbaum Tennis Club hosts the Hamburg Masters tournament every May. The Ethnology Museum is also located here.
