Great hotel
We enjoyed our stay. The room was comfortable and a good size which included a sitting area. Breakfast was good as well. The other advantage to staying in the hotel was the proximity to Rothenburg taking only 11 minutes to walk to town.

Nice friendly hotel near edge of old town
Sweet little hotel about 5 mins from city walls. Easy parking, large clean room and very friendly staff. 1 min walk from large Netto.

Will definitely be back!
Arrived extremely early, but we were allowed to park our car in the hotel car park all day whilst we explored the town. When we returned for check in, and indeed throughout our entire stay, the owner and her staff were completely t friendly, polite and kind, chatting with us and helping us with our German, giving us recommendations. We really loved the atmosphere of this hotel, and the fact that you can walk in to Rothenburgs walled town in under 10 mins.

Good location if you have a car
Small but clean room, good breakfast, short walk to town. The parking lot was full but we were always able to nab one of the spots right out front. Bed was a little hard and there is road noise with windows open, but we didn’t have problems sleeping. Would recommend to anyone requiring parking in Rothenburg.

Lovely place/people.
One of my favorite places on the trip. The staff were super kind, friendly. Beautiful rooms, nice parking, close to old city. No A/C, as typical of the area, but the weather was great. The outside street is quite busy with the windows open, but we still loved it.

The hotel sits right on a busy intersection. The room was very hot with no A/C. The noise from the road makes it impossible to sleep with the window open. We asked for a fan but was told they did not have one. This was the worst stay of our trip.

We loved the Top Hotel Goldenes Fass!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Top Hotel Goldenes Fass in Rothenburg on der Tauber. It was conveniently located to the Alt Stadt and was the perfect location to tour the wonderful medieval city. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and well appointed with a large bathroom. It was very clean and well maintained. The breakfast was outstanding. We will recommend it to our friends and family.

Very friendly hotel staff. The hotel was in a great location. It was a short 10 minute walk to the Markplatz. It also had free parking.

Good value with a short walk to the walled city
We stayed two nights at Hotel Goldenes Fass and were pleased with our stay. The room, while dated, was large and spacious and the bathroom was recently renovated and had plenty of counter space. We were delighted to see our room had a little balcony and the large outdoor terrace would have been a delight to relax on if the weather had been more cooperative. Breakfast was lovely, with prompt offerings of coffee or tea and staff working hard to keep everything filled up. We were just a short walk from one of the old city gates, in less than 10 minutes, we were inside the original city that is such a delight to explore. Overall, we felt the hotel offered good value for the money and I would recommend the hotel to anyone.

Great for the price
This hotel was very spacious by German standards, compared to the hotels inside the wall (old city) it was super. Plenty of parking in rear of hotel in old city along the street is all that available.

Noise or no noise?
Close to Old Town which was our primary destination. Only problem is that it is on a main street with lots of traffic. When the windows were closed it was very quiet but we needed some air to cool the room so it made for a question of quite night no noise or a cool night but noise. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Excellent location and value for money
Clean, comfortable and family style atmosphere. Has all you need and would expect from a decent 3 star hotel. 15 minute walk to the historic centre with sights and restaurants. Excellent value for money, can't fault anything. The restaurant was quite nice, too.

The room itself was nice, if a little small. Modern furnishings and fixtures. The single I stayed in was really just one room, including the bathroom which is separated from the sleeping area by just a piece of glass. The train station is not far away, but getting to the city center is quite a walk. Timed it at 20 minutes and I am a fast walker. I don't think there is much crime in this city but at night it can still be a spooky walk, there aren't many other people out and about this area.

Just outside the wall, clean, but on noisy road
A normal tourist hotel on the main road into Rothenberg. Clean, unexciting, and in a good location, with ample rooms. Be sure you get a room in the back, not fronting on the road – which is noisy ALL night! Breakfast is quite nice, if it’s included in your room. E14 is too expensive if you have to buy it separately.

Great location in Rothenburg o d T
The Goldenes Fass is a comfortable and inviting hotel all of a five minute walk outside the old walled city of Rothenburg o d Tauber. After seeing the size of the streets in the walled city I was very glad we did not have to drive in there. The hotel breakfast was excellent - if a bit pricey based on other places we stayed - and make sure to do the Night. Watchman's tour in the city. We found the staff at the Fass very helpful and easy to talk with. Wonderful spot!

Service was very good, food was better than expected, location was good. Easy walk to the old town and sites. For the elderly or disabled, there is no lift in the hotel so you have to carry your bags up the stairs to the rooms on the first or second floor (or find someone to assist). There was no bathroom exhaust for my room although the windows do open.

I knew nothing of the history of Rothenberg before I broke my journey on the A7 there. Wow! Anyway, the hotel was fine, typically Bavarian dining. Bedroom looked tired but the bathroom was bang up to date.

Note that while this hotel is quite nice in the Winter-time, it would probably be very noisy in the Summer when you'd have to leave the windows open as it is right next to a busy intersection (very few German hotels have Air Conditioning).
