“Perfect - in every way!!”

First time - of booking a hotel via intent - what a nice surprise - the location is great not in the center but close ... walking distance from all the touristic location in a nice quite area with a local atmosphere a lot of restaurants with both local and international cuisine . The Hotel is very contemporary the rooms are large and clean . The staff are very friendly and helpful. Will definitely come back to this hotel - again. Shalom - from Israel

“Great Hotel”

This hotel offers good accomodations in an excellent neighborhood in Rome. It is close to the Vatican but you have to walk a considerable distance to a metro station or take a bus.

“Good Hotel in Quiet Neighborhood”

Hotel is clean with modern bathroom and good housekeeping. Very good inclusive breakfast buffet. Neighborhood is quiet and located within 15 minute walk of the Vatican. It's about 25 minute walk to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. The Main shopping streets at Via Corso are about a 10 minute walk away. We enjoyed our stay at Visconti. Would stay here again, beds are firm but comfortable. Would go back as we liked being slightly outside the noisy districts.

“Good stay for 3 friends”

The hotel was in a good location and was within 10 to 20 min walking distance to restaurants and most of the major tourist destinations - Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, the Vatican, etc. I'm not a big breakfast person but they had a decent selection with cereal, fruit, pastries, bread, scrambled eggs and bacon. The rooms were small but average for Rome, we stayed in a triple room for 3 nights. The free computer/internet access was painfully SLOW but nice to have. The staff was helpful and professional. The area was quiet at night, not too many people walking around. The metro was a few blocks away if you needed an easy and cheap way to get the Roma Termini station.

“Nice Hotel”

Great and friendly staff except one lady at the front desk who did not smile and had a attitude problem. Great bar service and drinks. There was a pretty good selection of breakfast items, however the same each day. NIce and cozy rooms. They allowed early check in for us without charge or hassle. Great concierge service. Overall I would stay at that hotel again.

“Good Location , good hotel but not great services”

The location was good, Its walkable distance from the the Vatican. Since we were there during the X Mas time. It was very easy for us to walk to the St.Peter's square during X'Mas eve. The metro station is little far. In Rome, you can pretty much cover all the places and tourist spots in the Metro and the bus. So it will be easier to be near the metro station if you have plans to visit and travel a lot of places. There is no internet or free wifi service - Its a paid service. Not much info about the sites/places available from the hotel reception other than a map. Do your homework well , if you are a first time traveller. Rooms are pretty neat and the break fast was excellent.

.
Getting there
Airport shuttle is a good and economical option to reach the hotel from the Airport. You can book this in Advance online.
Getting around
Get your roma card on the first day. Use it in Metro/Bus/Two major Sites ( Colloseum/ Patheon etc.). It will save you from long queue. If you are travelling to other cities like Florence, Venice , Naples... , you can buy the tickets from Kiosk machiens in Termini with your credit card. This will save you a lot of time from waiting in the queue.
What to pack
Get a pair of very comfortable shoes. Where ever you go .. you need to walk a lot. Colloseum / Pantheon / Museums.... You will enjoy this city more , if you are willing to walk.
Shopping
Generally its expensive in Italy. South Italy is a better place to shop...
Nightlife
Dont miss to go to Trive fountain and spanish steps at night
Events and shows
By the Vatican Museum ticket online or from tourist information centre to avoid queue

“Love Rome-had a great trip, loved the location of the hotel”

Overall, thought the hotel gave good value. We loved the location, the room was kept very clean and was generally quiet. Major complaint-lack of hot water in the afternoon and early evening; it was very hot in the morning. Minor complaints-food and drinks at the bar area very expensive, as was the pay for movies in the room.

Area recommendations
We loved the area of this hotel, I guess it was between the Prati and the Borga districts. Very convenient to many of the other areas in Rome and points of interest. We walked everywhere, rarely took a cab.
When to go
October was great if, like us, you like to walk alot. The temps during the days (60s) was very conducive to walking. I think that May mught also be good.

“Great Visconti Palace Hotel - would definitely go back!!!”

Great hotel - close to everything - 1 block up to the bridge - then cross the bridge (Ponte Margherita) over the Tiber and walk another 2 blocks to find yourself in Piazza del Popolo / 10 minute walk to Castel Sant Angelo /15-20 minute walk to the Vatican Staff at the hotel were kind, welcoming accomodating and the room was good (king bed) with good hot shower - I appreciated the good A/C for a hot August in Rome - limited english TV - but I was there to see the sights The Roof top terrace was great for dinner in evening - Staff accomodated my early arrival and check-in (11 AM vs 3 PM)- the Breakfast buffet was good - eggs bacon, sausages, cold cuts, cheeses, breads, fruit, cold cereals, americain-style coffee, juices - sufficient to get me through a full day of sight seeing - there is limited wi-fi access (but I left my laptop at home anyway) - but the one computer in the basement was sufficient for my needs - for airport check-in. I utilized the expedia concierge service and appreciated the shuttle to the hotel after an overnight trans-Atlantic flight with little sleep and I didn't have the energy to try to negotiate ground transportation to the hotel - I would definitely stay at this hotel again - and chose it based on good reviews also found on TripAdvisor and had a great experience - Via Cola di Rienzo around the corner has some good shopping - and Bella in the Basement of Coin is a nearby grocery store. I thouroughly enjoyed my stay here and would definitely go back

Area recommendations
The hotel Visconti Palace is located in a more residential area - quiet - though I was there after the big Roman Holiday when most Romans leave town - many of the smaller shops and restaurants were closed - so I would recommend eating at the hotel or at a restaurant closer to the sights during this time period The hotel is well situated close to 3 metro stops - Lepanto being the closest - but just by walking across the Ponte Margherita and walking 2 blocks your find yourself in Piazza del Popolo - at the top of Via Del Corso (lots of shopping to be found here - but don't expect cheap deals - Rome can be very fashionable but it is expensive). I found the Patheon and Piazza Navona on my first night there after crossing the Tiber (Ponte Sant Angelo) in front of Castel Sant Angelo - all an easy walk - lots of other tourists in the area so I felt safe though I was warned about pick-pockets and used a money belt while walking around. The Vatican is an easy walk -15 to 20 minutes - and I would recommend walking up Via Della Conciliazione to see St. Peter's rise up in front of you. I would recommend that you use a guided tour to attend the Vatican museum and the Forum/Colliseum to by-pass the long lines to enter these sights. Don't miss Trevi Fountain or the Spanish Steps as hightlights of a visit to Rome. Lots of 'Motorini: buzzing about - but the small scooters are a necessity for Romans to get around - just be careful while crossing the street as a tourist.

“Upper class hotel in quite area, but limited selection of nearby restaurants”

The Visconti Palace is a very well appointed hotel - main entry, lobby, bar area, hallways, and rooms are all very clean and well maintained. The staff were all very professional and willing to assist and advise in any way possible. The hotel is located in a very quite area of Rome near the river - surprisingly quite considering how close it is to the Vatican and the city center. However, there is not a wide selection of restaurants close by. Be prepared to walk, take a taxi, or hike to a metro stop get to an area with a variety of restaurants or street cafes to select from. I guess that is not all bad - the nearby streets and sidewalks were not congested with traffic or crowded with tourists.
