“tranquil location in central area”
quiet location but surrounded by good bars and restaurants. close to Colusseum and walking distance to most sites. Bus outside hotel on cross city route (only 0ne Euro). Knowledgable and friendly hotel staff. Good breakfast. Stayed in nice, modern rooms - this was a big room but across the road on second floor but no lift.
“Great location and lovely staff”
This hotel is a lovely homey little place with a very friendly staff in a nice neighborhood just around the corner from the Coliseum. There is a great gelato place on the street behind the hotel. The shower is quite small but manageable.
“pas trop cher. parfaitement situé. tres bon accueil et chambre confortable.”
tout est dans le titre. + le staff parle français anglais italien. (peut etre plus)
“Great location and Friendly”
The Hotel Grifo is a modest hotel in an older building, and like many such European hotels, the rooms are small. However, it has a charming bar and a rooftop garden terrace. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located on a small street near the Coloseum and The Forum and many notable sites are walkable. There are numerous charming and good places to eat within a block. I've stayed here more than once and plan to stay again.
“Very nice hotel”
This hotel was located in a very nice neighborhood and was close to the ancient ruins and coliseum. The rooms were very nice, small, but that is to be expected in Rome unless you want to spend $500 a night. This place was resonable and very clean. The breakfast in the morning was very nice.
“Great time at Hotel Grifo”
Our room was very comfortable, and the staff were very helpful, Rosa speakes perfect English and is the font of all knowledge, organising transport to and from the airport, and also directing us to various places of interest in Rome. There are many bars and restaurant/cafes in close proximity to the hotel, and the main tourist area of the Forum is only a ten minute walk, along with the Metro, and all bus routes. We will certainly recommend the Hotel Grifo to others and we will go back again.
“Perfect”
We would definately stay here again. We were within walking distance of everything.
“Pleasant hotel - pleasant neighborhood.”
This hotel is very pleasant with very helpful and accommodating staff. The hotel is clean and well kept. The neighborhood caters more to locals, so it was enjoyable in that respect and it is within walking distance to the Colosseum, Trajan's Column/Market/Forum, etc. The continental breakfast was wonderful and filling: coffee, milk, fruit juices, cereals, pastries, sliced deli cheese and meat. As we found throughout Italy, the food is delicious and fresh. The only drawbacks were that the room and bathroom were small and the shower was very small (you had to open the door to bend down) and the hot water was iffy. As with the other hotels we experienced in Italy, there are no washcloths. As this was our first hotel in Italy, it set the tone for a very wonderful trip.
“Can't beat location!! Great small budget hotel!”
The hotel is in the perfect area; two blocks away from Cavour Metro Station and a bus stops right in front of the hotel. It is a small family run hotel not a chain hotel so keep this in mind; but the staff is great 5*. We were given directions/suggestions to everywhere we needed to be. The breakfast is a continental breakfast but it did the job. The juices were GREAT!! - One thing to keep in mind is the city taxes new in Italy (are not prepaid by expedia) they are to be paid at checkout. I had spent all my cash and I had to go out at 4am upon my checkout to look for an ATM to pay the 50EU for the taxes as no credit card/debit is allowed by Italian agencies. This is not the hotel's fault but I guess they can inform it at check in as it is a new Italian regulation. Apart from that my stay was great. I did have the room with the bathroom inside; my brother had a room with the bathroom across his room (private bath not shared) Toilet/sink is in every room; the only thing outside is the shower. So i guess I was fine with the upgraded room, but it would have been fine with the other as well. I would def go back to this hotel; great area, lively all the time. Thanks Hotel Grifo!!! Can't wait to go back!
