“Great value for money hotel”
I was initially nervous about booking this hotel. The photos made it look great but it was only two stars, there had to be a catch. The hotel was everything that the photos made it look, clean, contemporary and comfortable. I can only imagine that it was two stars because it only offers bed and breakfast and because it is located on the 3rd floor of a building access of which can only be gained through a courtyard, secured during the evening meaning a buzzer system is in place for late arrivals etc. Other than that the service is friendly, polite and the same as you would expect in a four star establishment. I will definately be trusting Expedias ratings in furture!
“Lovely Staff, Lovely hotel”
The staff were lovely, happy to help with any questions or queries. The room, bathroom and the hotel itself were all modern and clean (room cleaned thoroughly everyday with fresh towels.) The hotel was in the very centre of historical Rome, with only a 5 minute walk from the Trevi fountain in one direction and the Colosseum in the other. Only 2 slight bad points: the bed was slightly hard and the breakfast was very limited and what was there was very sweet.
“Stay in a Palace, Pay like a Pauper”
Booked from Expedia expecting a cheap city hotel, what we got when we arrived was fantastic, the hotel is one floor of an ex palace, the entrance way being through vast courtyards and gates. Rooms were tastefully decorated and recently refurbished, beautiful batrooms with marble everywhere. Hotel staff were exceptionally helpfull and spoke good English (I embarrasingly do not speak much Italian), try this hotel you will not be dissapointed.
“Great value”
Don't let the 2 star rating put you off. The location is excellent for all main attractions. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Rooms are basic but comfortable with a modern bathroom. Breakfast was basic, but had everything you'd need to start the day. I would recommend this hotel.
“Hôtel Galatea Rome : très bon accueil”
Accueil sympathique et efficace du personnel de cet hôtel : conseils sur les visites, taxis, restaurants, ... Confort des chambres, propreté, calme. Tout près d'un arrêt de bus de la via Nazionale et proche à pied des principaux lieux à visiter.
“A bargain gem in an expensive city..remarkable value”
Excellent budget hotel. Spot on location for all the sights within walking distance !! Basillica 10 mins, Colloseum 10 mins trevii fountain 10 mins. Republica 5 mins St Peters/Vatican 25 mins across a scenic route. Great value limited choice at breakfast but ample to fill up for the day. Staff very helpful and rooms very very clean. A little dark in rooms but so what. Small lift but all part of charm of general building.
“Ideal base from which to explore Rome”
Don't let the outside of the hotel fool you, inside the rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Only a B&B and no lounge but TVs in the rooms. No english speaking channels that I could find !
“"Rome is where the heart is"”
Our trip to Rome was fantastic from start to finish. Hotel Galatea is ideally placed for the train station and is walking distance from the majority of the sites. We were impressed with the cleanliness of our modern room and the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was simple but pleasant enough ... Italy isn't always easy for hotels and you could do a lot worse than this one ! ... A word of advice - the entrance to the hotel is not obvious - make sure you have their telephone number to hand in case you get confused !
