First time in RomePosted 11-Aug-2014
Nice hotel for reasonable price that is close to major attractions. The staff was nice and helpful. There was a breakfast in the hotel however in the first few days we weren't able to wake up early to try it. Good it was not included. Full kitchen in the apartment was very helpful as you can find good take out restaurants in the area and eat at home. As a disadvantage, there was a phone in the room without keys so that it cannot be used to make outside calls. It was intended for only calling the front desk and even that feature did not work. The laundry machine in the kitchen was out of service as well. Air Conditioner worked ok however it is better not to touch it as playing with it will make it worse. It was hard to figure out how the safe works as it is different from typical North American safe. Eventually we got it work. Food is good in the area and there is a place close to the hotel where young people have a drink and socialize together.

Well placedPosted 11-Aug-2014
I stayed here with my husband and two daughters in August. When we arrived by taxi from the airport with all our luggage at Hotel Apollo we were not expecting a hundred metre walk to our apartment around the corner. We weren't actually staying at the hotel itself. A city tax charge of 2 Euros per person per night also has to be paid. Finally on arrival the two rooms were spacious and clean as was the bathroom. Had to do a bit of DIY with a pencil and hair band to make the shower head stay up. The apartment was very well placed - just up from the Colosseum. For £300 for 4 for 3 nights I think was excellent value. We bought 48 hr open top bus tickets for 70 Euros for all four of us. A good way to have a rest and get some commentary about the city as there is so much to see. The street vendors are a little persistent. All in all a good experience with too much to see in 3 days. So far the best ice cream we have ever tasted and not at rip off prices.

Nice, very Italian apartment.Posted 13-Jul-2014
It was a great experience, the best taste of Rome staying in the neighborhood apartments, lots of good restaurants, very close to the coliseum and very good service. I will definitely recommend and stay there again.

nice apartment centrally located!Posted 2-Jul-2014 on Hotels.com
nice modern apartment down the street from the actual hotel. good air conditioning which is never a given in italy. be aware there are rooms at the actual hotel and apartments affiliated with it - we booked an apartment. a typical italian breakfast is offered down the street at the hotel - i'd book it again if i needed to.

Great hotel, even better service!Posted 22-Jun-2014
This hotel was amazing! The room was clean, they had good shower facilities, wifi and tv were included! They even had air con, which was very helpful on the very hot days while we were there. The staff were really friendly and helpful, providing us with maps and directions! And the breakfast was pretty impressive, with even friendlier staff! Walkable distant to the Colosseum and just a few steps away from a bus to Vatican City! Location is great, staff are great, room is great! I would definitely recommend this hotel if you want to stay in Rome! If I even visit Rome again, I would stay here again!

Hotel Apollo reviewPosted 15-Jun-2014
Pros: The room was just right for me as a single traveller. With all modern conveniences. And once again the staff were great and very helpful.
Cons: My single room was a little on the small side, but not enough to be uncomfortable.
Location: Very handy for the Colisseum, which you could actually see from outside the hotel plus close to the metro and bus services to all the other sites.
I found the hotel and its staff extremely good, and well situated for all the main attractions, both the Roman and the middle ages. The hotel itself was well furnished and the balcony where the breakfast room was situated proved a wonderful start to every day. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wanted a good quality, centrally located hotel in Rome.

As expected, the room & shower was quite small, but by me traveling alone, it was all the room I needed. The most important criteria, which, for me, was cleanliness, was well met. The hotel staff was very responsive to questions, gave me a map to keep which showed where I was staying in relation to sights I was interested in seeing. Wi-Fi worked well, and one had use of the 'business center' computer for as long as you needed in case you were traveling sans computer. The buffet breakfast served on the rooftop was good (just don't expect American eggs, bacon & pancakes) & typical of a European breakfast - all you can eat of sliced meats (ham, mortadella, salami, etc), breads (croissants, rolls, etc), cereals, yogurt, whole fruits (Apples, apricots, pears, bananas, plums), canned fruits (oh well you have fresh from which to choose), juices, coffee, cappuccino. The location is convenient - about 4 blocks from the colliseum & Forum, easy walking distances to Trevi fountain, Spanish steps, and one of the main shopping streets. I never write reviews, but was so pleased with this 3*** hotel & would not have booked it were it not for the reviews I read because I was very hesitant to hit the 'book' button. For the money, my expectations were exceeded, and I would choose Apollo again.

Great apartmentPosted 2-Jun-2014
Pros: Preety much everything.
Cons: The only slight fault is that the reception area is a couple of streets away from the actual apartment, so its a bit of a treck when you first arrive
Location: The apartments are opposite Cavour Metro and also surrounded by lots of restaurants and little shops. The restaurants are quite expensive though.
Really enjoyed my stay at this apartment, it was smart, clean and in a good central location. There were kitchen facilities, a big lounge, which was well furnished, and a spacious en suite master bedroom with huge bed, also a smaller room for the kids. Lots of storage space and a large bathroom... I really couldn't fault it for the price.....I'll definetly be stopping here again.

Dark room...Posted 29-May-2014
Pros: Rooftop dining room was my favorite thing!
Location: Close to the Colosseum. Also a reasonable walk to Trevi Fountain and Pantheon. Good shopping options on Via Nazionale.
My double room was spacious enough, but it was covered in dark carpeting and wallpaper, so overall it felt like a dungeon (personal taste though). Windows were well-insulated so even though Romans generally slept late, they didn't bother me :). Bathroom was spacious and clean. Definitely get a cab if you're coming from Termini station with luggages because it's not that close to the nearest metro stop and it's all uphill walking!
