“Best place for average budget”

Perfect place to visit Rome. Hundreds of restaurant close by, walking distance to most attractions, quiet street, quiet hotel, nice place on roof for breakfast, price is right. Highly recommended

“Family run hotel near the coliseum”

I chose this hotel because it was a family run operation, and for location. I thought it would be more personal giving more contact with Italy. It delivered. While on the subway my pocket was picked. Upon returning to the hotel they helped me make the requisite calls to the bank re stolen credit cards: greatly appreciated. Breakfast (included) was plentiful, varied, and of high quality. The Cappuccinos were great! The location was a 5-10 minute walk to the colliseum. restaurants were available in the neighbourhood. Room 502 was huge, and featured a new bathroom. The shower stall was small, but from reading other hotel reviews, this is common. The only problem experieced, was the roof leaked a litlle during a downpour. An inconvenience, not a deal breaker. I would defintely choose this hotel again.

“Great staff/ownership and location, but...”

The Hotel Apollo Roma is in a great location, very near the Colleseum and other main attractions. The lobby is welcoming, but upon entering the room it gets a little scary. It's so dark and dreary (some might say old-world charm, but not I), aside from the bathroom. It was clean, but the beds have got to go. It felt like mine was actually broken underneath. The staff were extremely kind and helpful, letting us store luggage for the better part of a day, and calling us a cab later. The breakfast was on the rooftop, which was nice, but just typical. For the location, the room sufficed, and we really didn't spend any time in it except to sleep.
