“Clean, friendly, looking forward to staying again”
The hotel was wonderful, so close to the metro, which really helped us save on money for our whole trip. The only problem was the sound of traffic at night in our room. I suggest staying on the upper floors if you can, otherwise this was a fantastic hotel! The metro was across the street, along with the bus station, and the taxi's were right next to the building. It was very easy to get to downtown Rome.
“lovely hotel :) friendly staff, really handy to metro.”
we stayed for 5 nights at the hotel american palace in the eur district of rome. the hotel is very very handy to the metro- you get on the b line and get off at the last stop laurentina. you can literally see the hotel front from the station its that close!!! the staff are very friendly and speak excellent english. we were worried that the hotel was too far out but this wasn't the case as the journey into the centre of rome took 10 minutes/ 15 in rush hour and was very very cheap for sightseeing. the breakfast was fantastic, eat as much or as little as you want before going to see all the sights that rome has to offer. personally i'd recommend the croissants :D the room itself was nice, rather a strange shutter system on the windows that are VERY loud when you pull them up or down (as the person in the next room liked to do very early in the morning ;)) but it was clean and comfortable. has the best shower and a nice deep bath. would recommend this hotel to anyone, its beautiful and a nice peaceful place in which to spend a night after the hustle of rome city centre.
“good location”
The location was great. Close to the vatican, shops and resturants. The room is very small and bath room very dated, however the location (and the breakfast) which was included made up for it. Hotel staff, unfurtunatly, were rude and unhelpful.
“Great place for the money. Definitely recommended.”
It took me 2 hours of searching online to get a room. I didn't realize that the one night I needed a room was an Italian national holiday and every tourist and Italian was also trying to book a room in Rome! Well, this was the most affordable place and it was a 5-8 minute taxi ride from central Rome. The hotel arranged for a shuttle for me to get into town (same price as a taxi, but much more comfortable and no worries about the meter), and it arrived exactly on time the next morning. Breakfast the next morning was buffet style and they had everything you would need, including about 10 different types of coffee! Definitely a plus in my book. Staff was extremely nice and helpful. If I can't get a room in central Rome again, I'm definitely staying here!!
“Would stay at this hotel again”
My friend and I stayed at this hotel in two separate rooms. Both our rooms were standalone rooms. However, my room was smaller and was accommodated with a twin size bed while hers was accommodated with a full size bed. The rooms were very clean, with the Exception of the bathroom which appeared to have had mildew. I had asked room service to clean it but I doubt they did. Anyway, based on the bad reviews on the website I almost didn't book my stay at this hotel. But glad I did. I was more than impressed when I saw the layout of the hotel. In my standards it could easily pass for a three star hotel. Because the reviews said that guests could hear noise from the street I asked for a room on the fifth floor away from the street, which was a good choice because I wasn't disturb by the noise of passing vehicles. However, my friend got a room on the first floor and she said it was quite noisy and therefore caused her loss of sleep. The continental breakfast was the same each morning but was great. Overall, I would stay at this hotel again. It was convenient to the metro system and is only a five minute walk from the hotel. Also, there is a taxi stand to the right of the hotel which is convenient if you have a early flight to the airport or if you need a cab to anywhere.
“An under-rated hotel!”
We chose the hotel because it was cheeper than the hotels in the city centre and we were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and general quality of the hotel. It is a lovely hotel, we did not have any problems with the staff who went out of their way to help us (with the metro and ordering a shuttle service to the airport etc). We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was nice and good value for money compared to prices in the city centre. We were disappointed by some of the bad reviews on the website that did not reflect the quality of the hotel. We actually felt that it was more of a 4* hotel than a 3*. It is in fact 20 minutes from the airport!
“Excellent!”
The hotel staff here was amazing-- I had problems with a Rome taxi and they tried to fix the situation for me. They also made sure I wasn't ripped off again by another Rome taxi. Luckily, the hotel was understanding and warned me to tell other Americans so it doesn't happen to them. The hotel itself was very clean and the breakfast was great. I'd stay here anytime! :-)
“Great for those on a budget”
My 14-year-old daughter and I stayed there for four nights in April 2006. It's proximity to the metro made it very convenient for getting into and out of the historic area. However, there is little (nothing) to do near the hotel in the evening because everything in that area closes early. That didn't bother us because by the time we returned to the hotel, we were ready for bed. The hotel lacks such conveniences as vending machines so stocking your room when the nearby grocery is open is a good idea. Next time I hope to stay in the center of Rome but if I have to cut costs, this was a very clean, comfortable hotel, at the end of a subway line, with a good, free breakfast, and I would certainly stay there again.
“Excellent”
We spent nearly an entire week at this hotel and enjoyed the 'regularity' after several short stays elsewhere in Italy. Although the hotel is located at some distance from the major areas of Rome's tourist attractions, we did not find this an inconvenience. Simply take the Laurintina subway line south to the last station, walk out of the station and through the area where the buses park and you will see the hotel across the street on your left. The EUR neighbourhood adjacent to the hotel includes a large artificial lake with surrounding park which is great for a relaxing walk even in the evening. There are several pizzaria, restorante, bars a few minutes walking distance from the hotel to choose from. Great fruit vendor across the street (at least in the summer). The complimentary breakfast was certainly passable though the coffee making machine was a bit of a puzzle and not very good. The hotel is modern; the staff professional and helpful; our room was more than adequate and the air conditioning up to August conditions. We would certainly stay here again.
“Très bon hotel”
Les petits déjeuners sont complets, les chambres confortables, le personnel parle francais. Seul problème, le centre de Rome est à une demi heure en métro.

EUR, Rome, Italy: A couple of miles south of the city centre, EUR takes its name from Esposizione Universale di Roma, built for an exhibition in 1942. The bombastic architecture was then intended to glorify Fascism, but now is home to shops, cinemas and clubs and exhibitions. Within the marble halls there are also three very good museums, including the fascinating Museum of Roman Civilization.
