“Nice hotel”
Near St. Peters Square. 20 minute bus ride to central station. Good breakfast and clean rooms.
“A out of the way walking hotel from Vatican Square”
Suggest very good walking shoes and walking stick if any problems with feet or legs. Short 10 minute walk to train station. and Taxi stands . Getting a cab up the hill during a rainy day and high time can be 10 to 90 minutes. Getting back no problem once we procure a cab in town. I broke my rt. ankle 1st. morning at hotel. I didnot have my proper walking shoes on yet and hiking stick. The hotel bent over backward to see that I got to Hospital in a cab. ON call doctor never picked up on his phone. From 6:30 Am until midnight usually a adaquite English speaker. Desk maned 24 hours. Breakfast of good varity and quanity. Bath super new and clean new euopean standard even with switchable 220 and 115 sockets that take usa plugs and round euro plugs. FYI the one larger tang on us plug for polarity will need to be trimed even to fit in socket. Both tangs must be of equal size. Has elevator as well as stairs and Decore nice. My single room's bed not a twin but a true single. Carpet is spotted and ready for change and no backed chair in my 2nd story end room only a hassock to sit on by tv stand and desk. If you want to walk alot this is great hotel with short cut I got to obolisk in St. Peters Square in 20 to 25 minutes. Next to a convent and hear the bells in room from hill very nice. No ice machine at hotel since no bar only cold bottle juices and bottled water. No money changing or special services except fax for a charge and local room phones.
“I will go back next year it was great”
Very Clean, friendly staff
“Very Satisfied”
Quaint hotel. Took care of every need, even took the time to arrange transportation for us. Could not have been more satisfied with hotel and the most friendly staff. Would stay there again.
“Lovely hotel in good position”
Only 5 minutes from the metro and 10 minutes from the Vatican, this is a really good position. The hotel is tucked away down a narrow side street and a little difficult to find, but when inside it is clean, comfortable with friendly, helpful service. The room was cleaned every day. The hotel organise a reasonable priced taxi transfer to the airport - book in advance. Ideal for a short break!
“Our second stay there”
not the easiest place to find, so be prepared with directions, but close to St. Peter's and to the train link to Termi--all the breakfasts in Europe were less elaborate this year, probably due to economics--Alessandrino was the only hotel that gave us enough coffee, and hot too, and really nice pastries--you have to indicate you need clean glasses, or clean towels, in every Italian hotel we were in this trip, which is better for the enviornment anyway. We'll stay there everytime in Rome, because having your bearings is the biggest advantage in travel.
“Nice hotel, good location”
We were very pleased with this hotel experience. It was within easy walking distance of the Vatican, and there is a shortcut path (by the train station) that avoids the winding and hilly street (There is still a hill). Very clean and comfortable, and the front desk was very helpful and friendly.
“Great Hotel Find”
Extremely clean and quiet. Breakfast included cereals, scrambled eggs, meats, cheese, rolls, croissants, coffee or tea, juice -- really great start to a day of touring Rome. I had read that the hotel is atop a hill and warnings about a very long staircase leading up to it. NOT a factor. We used the long staircase once, and only out of curiousity. We walked to and from the hotel every day without problem. The staff was very friendly and helpful starting with emailing me directions for taking public transportation from FCO to the hotel. We will definitely stay there on our next trip to Rome.
“A bit off the beaten path, but a delightful bargain”
Rome hotels can be iffy -- small, expensive and in need of repair. The Alessandrino was different. The room (we had a triple) was HUGE with a delightful bath. The hotel is on the Vatican side of the river, rather than in central Rome. It is also a bit of a climb from the bottom of the hill where public transportation is to be found. Cab drivers, told that the hotel is on Monte del Gallo had no problem finding it. Do be prepared to walk (ten minutes to the Vatican and more to the central city) and to do some hill-climbing. Take the time to enjoy being in a neighborhood (a lovely local trattoria is at the bottom of the hill), rather than with the crowds. Only criticism -- no laundry service available at the front desk.
“Nice hotel”
We stayed in the annex, next door in an apartment building, which gave us a kitchen. I think the rooms work well for 3, but not for 4. Nice staff, very close to St. Peters, the bus, and the train. Someone is at the desk 24 hours. Only drawback: for the entire week, no change in sheets or towels, and no trash removal. Still, we'd happily stay there again.
