“Amazing hotel”
The Fenix is a gem of a hotel. The outside of it needs a refurb but as completely satisfied with the inside! Hotel room was cleaned everyday and really comfortable. So easy to get around to see the sights of rome by using the metro. The nearest metro station to the hotel is Bologna and is a ten minute walk from the hotel. Dead easy to use and saw all the sights in 3 days really easily. Hotel garden is soooo nice to sit in if it's warm. Breakfast every morning as amazing with a wide choice for all. Staff friendly. Basically it's everything you want in a hotel and you're on a budget. However, even though it was cheaper than most other hotels, it definitely wasn't a budget style. Very clean and classy! Loved it!
“Charming hotel in a green quiet convenient neighborhood”
We were worried a bit about the location in terms of getting to the city center, but it was fine. There is a bus stop right around the corner and the ride to Termini is around 10 to 15 minutes. Piazza Venetzia is another 5 to 10 minutes. The bus goes down a wide avenue with dedicated bus lanes so it covers the distance very quickly. The neighborhood is clean and quiet. There are many embassies, consulates, parks and villas in the area. There is an excellent local restaurant down the street and it was always full with locals even in August. There are many bus lines to various parts of the city within a 10 minute walk and the metro stop at Bologna is around 15 minutes at a normal pace. The service at the hotel was excellent. Everybody was extremely helpful. The breakfast was very good. In the summer it is in a lovely garden, beautiful quiet way to start the day. Service is buffet style with coffee, juice, bread cakes, fruit, scrambled eggs, sliced cheese, meats, yogurts, breakfast cereals, etc. We had the standard size room (the French rooms are smaller). It was very comfortable and had a full bathroom with a bathtub although the door to the bathroom was a tight fit. There was plenty of closet space and drawer space and a small balcony. The television had CNN and BBC in English. The décor is classic style. The only complaint was the air-conditioning. It was weak. We complained but they cheerfully changed rooms for us to one that worked better.
“Very good value, woul;d go back, clean, comfortable and pleasant spacious rooms”
Rome is a busy noisy place but the Fexix is in a quiet are so getting a good nights sleep is easy. Bus and Tram stops to Main Transport and shopping areas are close by and you can pick up tickets at reception. We stayed in a superior room and this room was large and comfortable with a comfortable bed ensuring good sleep. Food in the Hotel is good and compared to venues in Rome is well priced. Breakfast is served early and offers a variety of cold or hot food. If you need to take a taxi to attractions such a Trevi fountain or Coliseum then12 to 15 euros should cover the cost to or from the Fenix.
“Mike's Roman holiday-fantastic, friendly hotel”
Staff was friendly and cooperative. I left small tips for the house keeper but she didn't take it, so I left it when I checked out. They were most helpful when I had problems like lost luggage or the language differance. They went out of their way to assist me, like washing my clothes at no cost to me, when my baggage was delayed for 4 days. The neighborhood was terrific, embassy row yet and large homes and apartment buildings. Close but not in the tourist area. Safe to walk the street at night and many nice bars and restaurants nearby. It was a delightful experience.
“Great experience”
The family room was so charming. kids got their own room. We enjoyed breakfast a lot. We got a great experience and exceptional value for the money. I would recommend it to anyone.
“Good point for setting off”
Nice hotel and very pleasant staff who are able to give you travel advice and you can get maps and bus tickets from reception. No dinner on a sunday so you need to remember to travel to a restaurant outside
“A modern hotel with more character than most”
The hotel is in a modern building with an interesting design, so that when you arrive you enter a one storey building - a king of glass corridor - open onto the garden, so it's really welcoming. The public parts in general are attractive with a mix of the old and the new, with comfy sofas, nice works of art. The room, on the other hand, could have done with a refresh. . .but it was advertised as a "French bedroom" and at a lower rate than the standard, so it may not be typical of the hotel as a whole. I would definitely go back to this hotel. I was on business. Although it's a very attractive area, it may be rather out of the centre for tourists; I'm not sure whether or not it's near a metro stop.
