“Overall, a great stay, but could have been greatly improved.”
Stayed (Honeymoon) a week from end of Oct. to start of Nov. Cons: -Communication: emailed+mentioned we're on honeymoon (hoped for at least an acknowledgment, but was ignored), response: gave rates for+asked if we want DIRECT airport-hotel car transfer, we agreed 5 days prior. -Airport pickup:prebooked, no driver waiting for us,called hotel, they said: trouble with email, apologized, hung up-and gave no advice on what to do,we lost 3.5hrs-waiting,getting new transfer, but payed the same for a shuttle bus[2.5hrs from airport-hotel during rush hour-but return trip: hotel-airport, 1 hr during rush hour+picking up other guests (?)] -Deluxe room, appeared very clean, but very DUSTY by plugins+corners! -View: hotel has small internal courtyard where staff gossip+smoke:open window-room is full smoke -In room WiFi VERY pricy.Cheaper WiFi only in small, yet nice lobby Pros: -Great service, other than airport pickup -Very clean/nice bathroom. -Comfy/Clean bed -Fresh+FULL breakfast bar (eggs, muesli, rolls, etc), nice restaurant -Location:In the middle of it all.Walking time in minutes: Colosseum and ruins of Roman Forum:10 Vatican:45, its Museum:70 Trevi fountain:10 Circus Maximus:25 Jewish Quarter:15 Spanish Steps:20 Pantheon:20 Location's wonderful. Would we recommend this hotel? Yes. Even due to its flaws, it was a pleasant stay, great breakfast to start the day, and the renovated 19th or early 20th century building it's in is very charming building. Staff do take care of most problems fast.
“Loved it”
The Cosmopolita is not grand or lavish, but it was pleasant, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast buffet, included in the room price, was surprisingly generous--eggs, bacon, cereal, the works. Great location if you want to walk to all the major sites in Rome. Very convenient to Forum/Colosseum, but also a reasonable distance from Spanish Steps and even Vatican. In a week, we saw everything from Trastevere to the Villa Borghese and never bothered with a cab, bus, or subway. Tip: Suppose you arrive from the airport around 8:30 a.m., and Max, the front-desk man, offers you a choice: Wait until noon for the standard room you paid for, or move immediately into a very small room for the first night, but then get upgraded to a spacious junior suite for the next five nights. Should you trust Max? The answer is yes. You absolutely want that junior suite.
“Great location”
The hotel is in a great location! It is surrounded by cute little shops and restaurants. It is within a short walking distance to many landmarks and historical sites. The included breakfast was very good as well.
“Friendly, Central, Safe, and Beautiful Hotel!”
The Cosmopolita is located within walking distance of major tourist sites in Rome. Staff at the hotel are friendly and helpful. There was a small safe in my room to lock valuables. My room, a single with a double bed, was tastefully furnished and a perfect size for me, although might be too small for overweight guests. It had a large window with wooden shutters that let in lovely air while I slept. The floor was mock-hardword, clean and new--so much better than carpet which is cleaned with chemicals and emits odors in the large, more expensive hotels. Breakfast was lovely with yogurts, eggs, great Italian coffee, juices, fruit, rolls, bacon, cheese, etc. I could sit each morning by a large open window admiring the street scene and eat my breakfast. There was one problem with the internet service in the room, but it was corrected quickly and I was charged for what I used rather than what I purchased, making up for the lost time. There is a wine bar with lovely bar food off the lobby of the hotel. Other guest were very friendly and from all parts of the world. A tour bus for Pompeii picked me up from the hotel earlier than breakfast, but the hotel made arrangements for me to eat on my breakfast plan early too! I would return to this hotel in a heartbeat! It is modest, clean, and lovely.
“Tiny room”
This hotel room is tiny and the bed occupies 75% of the room. There is only one chair to sit on so you will spend most of your time sitting on the bed along with your luggage. I have been in elevators larger that this room. The view from the window of the room is to a noisy compact utility courtyard full of air-conditioning and elevator equipment. Temperature of the room can not be controlled although there is a thermostat that is inoperable. Book a room in this hotel only if you expect to be in it to sleep as it offers no other amenities and beware the photos as they are taken showing the more expensive suite not the regular accommodations.
“Cosmopolita”
Hotel is conveniently located to major tourist attractions. Very nice breakfast buffet. I had a tiny, noisy single room near elevator and above restaurant playing disco music until 2 am on the weekend. Hotel staff were polite and helpful.
“Roman Tragedy”
Although a great location if you like to walk and see most of the sites Rome has to offer, it was a disappointment on many levels. The rooms are small even by european standards. We had no room to put 2 suitcases so had to lay them on the floor when sleeping and then transfer to the bed once we got up. Additionally, the bathroom was so small it was difficult getting in and out of the shower and I am not that big of a person. I cant imagine anyone over 6 ft tall being able to stay in this room. The hotel staff were very rude to the point where we avoided the front desk whenever possible. However, the restaurant staff were fantastic. The breakfast bar was not as good as other Italian hotels we stayed at, but the dinner we had one evening was very good. Very expensive and not worth the money.
“Good Choice”
Hotel reception staff were very helpful. When a taxi was requested, it was there in minutes. Restaurant recommendation was good. Location is excellent. Walking distance to many sites.
“Very convenient location! Can't wait to go back!”
The hotel was in a good location. The hotel staff was polite , but not very welcoming. The room was small but very nice. I would stay here again if I go back to Rome.
“Excellent service”
This hotel is very weel located even though it's about 15 minutes away from the nearest Metro station, the reason being that there is not thatmany Metro stations! This is not the paris or London Metro. Breakfast is excellent. Service is also excellent. Most hotel staff speak enough English to communicate basic information to tourists. The only negative aspect of the trip has nothing to do with the hotel;it"s related to Alitalia. This airline has a strong tendency to lose luggage. It happened to us as weel as two other couples staying at the hotel. As you can imagine, a delay of 48 hours to get your luggagecan cause some problems! However, Roma is a beautiful city with a long history, excellent food, and absolutely great coffee.
