“Very Good Hotel”

We spent 3 days in September 2007 in the Cicerone, was a nice stay in this hotel. The room very confortable and clean, the maid very kind and the people in the front desk very helpful. We were pleased with this hotel and the next time we'll visit Rome we are going to stay here again.

“Location Location Location!”

Extremely well situated to walk to the Vatican and a majority of the historic sites of Rome. For those further away such as the Colosseum and Roman Forum, a metro (subway) station is a short distance away. The mass public transportation is quite inexpensive compared to North American standards. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Room is a bit smaller the North American hotels, but is still comfortable and well looked after.Food and drink at the hotel on the pricey side, but there is a relaxing piano music in their lounge. There are good and inexpensive restaurants and bars in the neighbourhood, The complimentary breakfast is second to none in quality, variety and service of staff. We were made to feel extremely welcome and appreciated, I do not hesitate to recommend this hotel, Grazie Hotel Cicerone!

“Cicerone Hotel”

We had a great time. Walking distance to all the sights. The hotel is very near the Vatacan. Also within a healthy walk to all of the best known sights. We even walked to the Roman Forum, the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. Also near to some nice restaurants and great shopping.

“We have been there 3 times already”

Everytime we travel to Rome we stay at the Cicerone. 15 minute walk to the Vatican or in the other direction 15 minute walk to Piazza del Popolo, which is the begining of Via del Corso with all its stores, etc. Best way to get anywhere would be by cab which is about 8 Euros to all the usual places (Colliseum, Spanish Steps, Fontana di Trevi, Via Veneto, etc. From the hotel you can also walk 1 block to Via Cola di Rienzo where you'll find plenty of shopping . . . .

“Cenveniently Rome”

Your first challenge is to get from the airport to the hotel. We took the Leonardo Express train. Ignore the touts at the airport telling you the bus is cheaper, it is cheaper, but the traffic in Rome is dire. Take the train to the Termini. The Metro is very easy to use, you just need to know the last station on your line to pick the right train. Use the machines right at the barriers to the Metro, just before you go down. Choose a B.I.G ticket 1euro for 70 mins. Easy to use, don't be afraid. Hotel Cicerone is in the Prati area, very italian, so the restaurants are good. The main town is very walkable, but if you are going as far as the Colosseum, take the Metro down, it pops up right beside it. One word of warning, don't take the Metro at rush hour if you have a suitcase, there simply is not room for it. sardines spring to mind. Good hotel, I've been before. The front desk staff and bar staff are good, but the breakfast staff in the morning seem to have a life of their own, mostly unhelpful, but not too bad. Lot of tour groups, so get to breakfast early, we were getting up at 0630hrs not just to beat the groups, but also because you had to get to the Vatican and Colosseum early (0800hrs) as the queues are huge

“Great Place to Stay”

First trip to Rome and had no idea where to stay. We were very pleased with the Cicerone. Located in a clean, safe area, about a 10-minute walk to the Vatican. Quiet, clean room with good a/c. On the smallish side compared to U.S. hotel rooms, but more than adequate given the time we were actually IN the room. Very nice breakfast daily, including bacon, eggs, etc. There's a great hole-in-the-wall pizzaria about 2 blocks to the east. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would stay here again.
