Nice hotel close to Rome railway station

Posted 4-Sep-2014
Pros: Hotel staff. Breakfast and its view. A perfectly adequate room. Ideal for travel anywhere in Rome near rail, bus,Metro, tourist buses, walking
Cons: X
Location: We ate regularly in the evening at a restaurant just 5 minutes from hotel, where all staff were friendly and meal good value Ristorante Pizzeria Aqui
The hotel staff were courtious and obliging. We took a travel plug but it was incompatible ( needed 3 pins not 2) but the hotel desk was able to come up with one for us a moment's notice, and free. Room was big, settee as well as chairs. TV had British news channel for information as well as a host of Italian channels. Room cleaned daily and well, clean sheets and towels. Air conditioning adequate. Breakfast on top floor (7th. floor using lift) with good view towards church domes. Food good - cereals, meat and cheese, hard boiled eggs, rolls, croissant, sweet cakes, yogurt, fruit juices sweet needed watering, coffees teas, hot choc. Internet access via your i-phones,etc. in lobby area only.

Posted 25-Aug-2014
Pros: The staff were very helpful, spotlessly clean
Cons: Wifi in rooms would be good instead of just reception
Location: Very near to bus and train station. Nice places to eat nearby and shops all around
Thoroughly enjoyed our eight days in Rome, lots to do and good advice given by hotel staff

Former glory

Posted 18-Aug-2014
Pros: central location near Termini Station
Cons: air conditioning terrible. It is on the very busy main street but I needed the window open to even attempt sleep.
Location: 1 block from Termini so perfect if need access to rail but there are many other hotels in the area.
a formerly grand hotel that has seen better days. for a 4 star hotel the breakfast was poor and easily worst of any I experienced in 2 weeks in Italy. The hotel seemed almost empty but if you reduce services because of that it becomes a self perpetuating exercise.

Not a four star hotel!

Posted 12-Aug-2014
This was going to be our longest stay during our holiday and we expected it to be magnificent because of the four star rating and pictures etc. How disappointed we were!! The hotel would have been a four star hotel in the 1920's but it isn't now. Our room had filthy walls, DIY wires on the ceiling, outdated curtains and furniture, an absolutely DISGUSTING bathroom. At first glance it looked as though the marble had a somewhat black tinge but when closely observed, it was actually mould!! Mould grew profusely in the corners of the shower. The cleaners lack attention to detail which is not what a four star hotel would have. Not only that, wifi was only available in the downstairs lobby which was extremely irritating! We wanted our own privacy and space and we didn't want to listen to the grumpy italian concierge yell over someone on the phone! All staff lacked customer service. They only go about their day, doing the minimum. No care to customers or for their hotel. Very upsetting!

Cons: Toilet to have more space.
Location: Good restraints and close to the bus stop.
A great place for a short break. Getting out and about with hop on and hop off pass made it a lot easer to get around.

Great location!

Posted 1-Aug-2014
Pros: The location is amazing! Just a short walk from the Termini station. There are plenty of restaurants near by and the main attractions are not far.
Cons: There was no wifi whilst we were there. Don't expect too much from this hotel. It's clean and it's it's in a good location.
Location: There is lots to do! Find yourself a map and explore! I would highly recommend pre booking the Vatican and the Colosseum. We saved a lot of time!
Only just returned back from Rome and it was an amazing experience! There is lots to do and plenty to see! The food is fab and the people are lovely! There is a direct train for the airport to the Termini station. Approx 14 euros.

Where do I start?

Posted 27-Jul-2014
Location: Good coffee bar just across the road Gran CAFFEE FELIXIANI
On arrival we were put in a dirty cupboard sized room in the attic, views of the Basillica were in fact a metal fire escape overlooking a derelict apartment block and smelly dirty court yard. The entire room measured no more than 10 foot square with a 6 x 6 en suite with a broken shower curtain spiders in the corners and smelly drains.: Having booked for 4 nights we couldn't wait to get home: luckily on the last evening before leaving, the drain on the shower blocked and flooded the room so after mopping up, we told reception who moved us to another room which was everything the first room wasn't. Breakfast was acceptable, a normal Italian breakfast of cold meats cheese a bread roll tea coffee or fruit juice, in fact quite enjoyable if it had not been for the breakfast attendant who stood guard over the food on offer, presumably to ensure you didn't help yourself to more than one of each , I took a cup of tea down to my wife before breakfast to help her come round from an uncomfortable nights sleep, forgetting to take the cup and saucer back up the breakfast room when we got there a short while later, only to be accosted on arrival by the attendant who demanded I return the cup . there after I gave him a name of "Vigili della tassa " cup policeman Reception staff were on the other hand very helpful and polite, what a shame that was not reflected in other areas of the hotel : sorry I wouldn't go back there if you paid me: 4 star ? I wouldn't give it 1 star .
