“Clean hotel”
small town hotel. didn't expect much to begin with. it was a nice hotel. only downfall was lack of cable channels (ESPN), but not that big of a deal! beds were firm, as i like them!
“Not modern, but extremely clean”
I'll give you the most important point you will want to know about a motel right off the bat: The Bighorn Lodge (the name to look for on the sign) was very, very clean. I have no complaints whatsoever about the bathroom or bedding. The room was dust-free and in good condition -- small and somewhat dated, but that's not unexpected. The towels were even new and fluffy! This was the cheapest room in town with two queen beds on a weeknight, and totally reasonable for a tourist trap like Grand Lake in summer. The rooms have real, old-fashioned keys and not keycards -- the first time I've seen that in fifteen years! I imagine Grand Lake has extremely low crime, but I wouldn't keep valuables in your room anyway, since only the knob locks (there is a deadbolt you can lock from inside but not outside). Check-in was friendly enough, and check-out consisted of a note to leave my room key on the front counter. :) The location is conveniently walkable to everything, but then, it's hard not to be when your town is less than a mile from beginning to end. The rooms all face south, and while you can't quite see the lake, at least you are overlooking a log cabin hardware store and not a refinery, right? There is a small ice cream stand next door which also sells food, in case you are so incredibly lazy you don't want to walk the 600 feet to go someplace else. There is a small hot tub, by the way. I did not use it. It wasn't visibly offensive in any way, though.
“Good local motel”
Convenient location. Comfortable room. Close to downtown and lake-we walked to restaurant, shops and lake. Staff could be friendlier-felt they wanted to get rid of us as soon as we checked in.
“Great Hotel- Not So Great Location”
Room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. If you are staying in Grand Lake to avoid pricier places in Winter Park you may be better off paying a little more money to stay closer to Winter Park. It takes about an hour to get to Winter Park from Grand Lake. Hotel was great, location not so great!
“Would have been absolutely fine for 3/4 the price”
The hotel was OK, but not worth the rate charged. Fairly clean. Friendly check-in. No extra ammenities and the air did not work well. Breakfast consisted of a box of pastries left sitting on the counter.
“OK - Basic Place”
The room was okay. When I asked about breakfast, I was told they have coffee and doughnuts, so we ate in a restaurant instead.
“Ozark Mountain Inn”
The Hotel is on a major hill. Parking is on a hill and you need a parking brake to park. There was a band-aid on the flour. The breakfast was cake donuts, cereal, bagels and English muffins. The hot tub was not hot but, it was not cold. Better places at a comparable price.
“I will not go back”
Bighorn in Grand Lake is a run-down motel but has the basic necessities such as bathroom, TV, hair dryer etc. Also, it is located very close to downtown. If I go to Grand Lake again, I won't stay there even though the price is very reasonable.
