“Excellent Stay”
I truly recommend this hotel. It's very close to the downtown Playa Del Carmen area and the surroundings are very safe. The hotel rooms are nice and clean. The restaurants were very good. The beach is beautiful. I highly recommend this place. The ONLY bad thing was that the room did not have a small fridge. But unless you really need that, this place was perfect. I found the hotel on the smaller side compare to other all inclusive that I have been to, but that was perfect. Also the buffet food was pretty good. Try to go to Cocobongo Disco. It's really a good time. The hotel staff was a lot of fun and did everything possible to make us feel home. The pool is a bit small but again, who cares? We were there for the beach. Enjoy, high five to this place.
“Would recommend”
Very nice hotel, located on a sandy beach. Nice territory. Interesting activities; trapeze was a nice extra to regular volleyball, archery, bingo, darts, water sports etc. Staff is friendly. Animation team was great; night shows was a good quality given that they're produced not by professional preformers, some were great dancers and fun to watch. The food was delicious, big variety in the buffet, plus you can go to a a-la-carte restaurant (3 at the hotel and 3 others at Wyndham Azteca), not to mention all the coctails that are available to you with all inclusive. The only drawback was the humidity in the room. All the clothes and the linen were wet, which got a bit annoying at the end (we've been there for 2 weeks). Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend to go there.
“"Great First Visit - Can't Wait To Go Back To Mexico"”
This was our first trip to Mexico and was not too sure what to expect and with reading some of the reviews on Expedia was a little nervous. However, my family and I had a wonderful time at the Viva Wyndham Maya and would recommend it to anyone. All staff were friendly and helpful. My children (10 & 15) had a wonderful time with the (kids club) staff. They really try to involve everyone in having a good time. The buffet offered a wide variety of fresh food and the a la carte resturants served very enjoyable meals. The resort is within walking distance to shops but a taxi is only $5. Our room was a bit small for four people but comfortable and clean. We felt very safe within Playacar and would recommend the area for a family vacation.
“honeymoon was awesome”
the hotel was great and service was excellent. right on the beach and a beautiful view.
“Pleasantly Surprised”
After reading the reviews on this hotel, we were not sure exactly what we were getting into, however, we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is great, the food at the three restaurants was fabulous, the buffet was your average buffet, however, you could always find something you liked. The staff were nice to us, and very helpful. The beach was fantastic, we never had a hard time finding a chair near the pool or the beach even though you are not permitted to save a seat. I would definitely go back again.
“Good Hotel, worth what I paid”
Though they're still redoing the beach (3/17/07), there is a lot of beach available for laying out and swimming, it just doesn't look as pretty with sandbags, etc. The all-inclusive food was pretty good. You should try to stay 8 nights, as you will get 3 "coupons" for advance reservations and can do almost half your trip in one sitting at the reservation desk (get there before 8am when the daily queue forms; without a coupon, you can only reserve the day of). The buffet is just fine for dinner as well, pasta made-to-order, various meats, salad, soups, etc. Drinks are normally a little light, but just ask for extra alcohol and you will be set. The nightly "entertainment" is themed, and generally not enetertaining, so only go if you plan to drink. During the day, classes/aerobics etc are offered poolside, and if you are layin out nearby, you will be invited many times to join in. I found the staff to be helpful and very nice: when we called guest services for additional towels, we received them immediately or within 10-15 mins (i will warn you the beds are a little hard, and the pillows are very flat). Overall, i recommend thsi hotel for the beach and proximity to cute shops/other hotels (the hotel area feels very safe), but if you're looking for fantastic food and a kid/whistle free environment, you might want to check somewhere else.
“Great Place for a Family Excursion”
It is a great hotel for a 1-2 weeks family vacation, and we are glad that we took the all inclusive option. Because it was worth the money: The rooms are fine, a llitle used, but perfectly cleaned every day. The food was great considering the number of people served three times a day: great variety and quite healthy (if you choose the right stuff). Animation: Just great and engaging, for kids as well as for parents. A very friendly bunch of people, very attentive, from Kids Club to Sports crew (Try the cicus!!!) to Night Show Gang. You may get annoyed once in a while because of the 5 people standing in front of the bar (there are always some folks who need their first cocktails right after 10am), but the guys at the bar know how to entertain all customers. Some equipment is a little worn out (in the gym or the boats on the beach) . Single problem: Very difficult booking for the special dinners in one of the three menu restos. But that's a minor thing. WE really enjoyed it !!!
“cant wait to go back”
i go every year for 7 years now
“Best choice ever!”
We were there with our toddler and it was the best choice ever. The Staff - especially the Animation and at the service - were so friendly and great poeple. The evening-shows were great, not cheap because the stage-deco and the costums and the dancers ware all so good. The beach was perfect - white sand and clean. The drinks and food were great. Negative: The pool was not huge, but big enough with a great bar and child-area (and having the ocean next to it you don't really need a pool:-) and it was a bit sad that the playground is behind fences and not open all the time. Great stay - will go there again! Good price - and you get a lot more then you expect.
“Wish I was still there!!!!!!!!!!!!”
We just got back from a weeks' vacation at the Viva Maya. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody. It was fabulous!!!! The water and beach were just gorgeous. The grounds were really nice and the rooms were good too. The food was good and we had no problem getting reservations for the restaurants. For the deal we got through Expedia, it couldn't have gone any better. If you want a great, affordable vacation, this is the place to go. Playa Del Carmen was just great. No security issues, was very safe and the 5th Avenue shopping was great. All in all it was a great vacation. I wish I was still there!!!!!!!!
