Property Amenities

This resort mixes the columns and low white buildings of a classic Mediterranean style with the painted, carved decorations and mariachi-band sculptures of a Mexican hacienda style.
Because the buildings do not block the sun, guests can bask by the pool or on the beach right up until sunset. To cool off, they can lie on in-water chaise lounges or jump into either of three freeform pools, one whose swim-up bar has swing seating. Butlers stroll through pool and beach areas with books, magazines, sunscreen, and drinks.
A fitness center features cardio and strength-training equipment and is divided by a glass wall from a studio for Pilates and spinning classes. The lobby contains billiard tables; billiards and Ping-Pong also can be played in the 24-hour VIP Lounge.
Six restaurants offer a wide variety of cuisine, including the Chef's Plate, with multi-course meals where guests can discuss dishes with the chef and wines with the sommelier. Cocktails are available at four bars—including one with nightly music—and 24-hour room service is provided.
A business center provides computers, fax machines, office supplies, and high-speed Internet access. Wireless Internet access is complimentary throughout the property. In addition to concierge services, a special romance concierge is on site to provide information tailored for couples.

The Royal in Playa del Carmen All Inclusive Spa & Resort offers 507 guest suites, all with entrance foyers and terraces. All suites have jetted tubs designed for two, upholstered chaise lounges, comfortable reading arm chairs and beds with pillowtop mattresses and partial curtains.
Rotating 32-inch TVs come with satellite channels and CD/DVD players (CDs and DVDs can be borrowed from the business center). Wireless Internet access is complimentary and electronic safes accommodate laptops.
Marble bathrooms feature dual vanities with bowl sinks and shower stalls are equipped with hand-held showerheads.
Other amenities include minibars stocked daily with water, beer, soft drinks, and a selection of international liquors, dual-line cordless telephones with bilingual voice mail and bathroom extensions.
Additional amenities include Magic Box for 24-hour room service, individually-controlled air conditioner, iron/ironing boards, ceiling fan with bedside controls, reading lamps, bathrobes, and slippers.
Royal Service and Housekeeping includes on-line check-in available 48 hours prior to arrival, luxurious bath amenities, special nightly Royal turndown service with a choice of 3 aromatherapy & bath scents, pillow menu, special welcome amenity, Royal Concierge, Romance concierge and Royal butler service with luggage unpacking, shoe shine service, and ironing of 2 pieces of clothing.

La Tequileria and Cigar Club - Guests can sample more than 80 Mexican tequilas while watching cigar makers hand-roll cigars.
Lobby Bar - Margaritas and martinis. Full bar. Also in the lobby is the Royal Martini Bar and a wine-tasting corner.
Trade Winds - Poolside and swim-up bar with swing seating. Snacks, beverages, and cocktails. Evening music and dancing. Another swim-up bar can be found at the second pool.
Room service - Available 24 hours. Delivery and pick-up are done through discreet boxes built into the wall next to guestroom doors.
Entertainment
The resort provides daily entertainment, which incluces games, actitivies, live music in the lobby bar, and live shows with music and dancing. Once a week a professional tequila and wine sommelier and bartender leads tequila, wine, martini, and coffee tasting sessions.

This oceanfront resort offers beach volleyball and nonmotorized water sports, including snorkeling. Introductory scuba-diving lessons are held in a diving pool. Three freeform pools separate the wide stretch of green lawn from the white sand of the beach: one is the center of pool and poolside activities, such as bingo; another has a lap lane and is intended for quieter pursuits. Tennis courts are on the roof. Beach palapas are provided; plenty of lounge chairs are available on the sand or by the pool.
Use of the hotel's bicycles is complimentary. A fitness center is on site, with classes including aerobics and Pilates. The on-site spa features a steam room, sauna, cold plunge, and spa tubs that are complimentary to all guests; spa treatments at the SPAzul can be booked (surcharge).

“Definitely going back!”
The hotel is beautiful, with a great location. It is only about a block away from downtown, and just a little further the ferry. The atmosphere and service are amazing. Just don't talk to Guest Services. Thats like a timeshare. Stick with the front desk and consierge and you'll be golden
“Highly Recommended”
This is the hotel to be. My boyfriend, now fiancee, and I went the 1st week of December and had a blast. We enjoyed all the hospitality of the hotel and the convenience location. 5th Avenue, the shopping, restaurants, bars, were a block away. There's no need for taxi or bus. Food at the hotel was great. There are alot of options to choose from. We are definitely going back next year!
“Pretty darn good!”
It's hard to complain about this hotel. The service was good, the food was good... almost great in comparison to other 4 star all inclusive's. There was no need to make those pesky reservations for dinner. Just show up at whatever specialty restaurant at whatever time you want. My room was incredibly comfortable. The turndown service inclusuve of aromatherapy was especially nice. The room service was good. The staff is incredibly interested in ensuring your comfort. The pool could get a bit crowded... so do like everyone else, go down early and claim your area. The night entertainment and the general hotel entertainment was a bit weak, but truly, I took my entertainment on vacation with me, so that didn't matter. And finally, the beach was probably the only disappointment. You have to go either to the left or right of the hotel to be free of the rocky area that's located directly outside of the hotel. Overall, I look forward to returning to this hotel. Well done.
“Best vacation ever”
The Royal in Play del Carmen was magnificent! The room was beautiful, the restaurants had great food, and the grounds were impeccable. All of this was second, though, to the workers. The staff and entertainment crew were top-notch. They made you feel like long-lost friends instead of customers. I would highly recommend this location.

We were there from NOV 15-22. Excellent service. Good food. Comfortable rooms. Nice beach. Weather was a bit cool for a couple of days, but not the Hotels fault. Great Hotel, we will go back.

We had a great time. The service was great. We had alot of fun without all the little kids around. First time for an all inclusive stay and we were pleased that there were a few restaurants on location and at the sister hotel across the street. After the hurricanes this hotel still has great beaches!

Great hotel with AMAZING service and the friendlist folks. Everybody wanting to help and make sure you are haveing a terrific vacation. Room was wonderful, food was very good and the location (on the beach AND near a quaint shopping area ) was perfect for us.

This resort was gorgeous! We weren't sure where to stay and are so glad we chose this. The location is perfect to walk the beach or stroll down street of shops & restaurants. Everything is in walking distance. The restaurants were awesome! We especially loved Asiana and ate there 3 nights! The staff was so friendly but not pushy! We had a great time getting to know them. We stayed in the standard jr suite. The decor was gorgeous and it was huge! I would highly recommend staying here!
“AMAZING!!! Treated like royalty”
We left the Royal speechless. From the minute we arrived to the time we left, they were amazing. No matter how little the request, they took care of it with a smile. When the bell boy carried our luggage to our rooms and gave us a tour of everything in our suit, he said "Welcome Home" and he sure meant it. I have traveled a lot, but have never seen so many people soooo dedicated to their job and making you happy. This extended through the people at reception, room service, concierge, pool girls, waiters, and bar tenders. You don't get service like this in the U.S. We stayed in the ocean view suit on the 3rd floor which was beautiful. We were close to everything that we did at the resort. The food was fantastic. We have stayed at other all-inclusive places but they never served food nearly as good as the Royal. Even the buffet was great! They cook whatever you want right there in front of you. Charlie, Izra, and Quio you made outr evenings so much fun at the lobby bar. Go Superman! Also Alexis at the pool, you are such a sweatheart and so under appreciated. Those ice towels were much needed! You do a great job! If you are questioning this resort, just book it. There will be no regrets!
