“We liked this place.”
We stayed in a small hotel unit after spending a week at the Grand Mayan down the street. It was great to be in a smaller resort and able to see the ocean from our room. The Caribean buffet night was the best food we had all vacation. The beach has sand and you can swim in the ocean, unlike the Mayan. Very well stocked on-site grocery store with reasonable prices. Liked the walking paths that lead up to the main highway, where you can catch a public shuttle to town for $2 each. Good drinks at the pool: loved the Banana Monkey, Happy Hour from 3-6 with half price drinks. Super clean resort and quieter than big resorts.
“Royal Hacendias”
The resort was wonderful. Everyone was very accommodating and the service was exceptional.
“The Royal Haciendas is muy grande”
If you are looking for home away from home, this may be the place for you. We enjoyed a one bedroom villa with a fully equipped kitchen. The resort has a grocery and sundry store on site equipped with anything you could possibly need, including fresh produce. The grounds are beautiful with lush tropical gardens. Although this is a timeshare, the sales people were not overly aggressive. The beautiful beach is home to a natural reef with lots of coral and fish (hotel provides free snorkeling gear). If the beach is not your gig, there are three pools to choose from, one with a swim up bar. Each unit has a view of the beach and water. The staff is very friendly and courteous. The food is OK, featuring a themed buffet dinner every night and the price is reasonable.
“Spring Break at the Haciendas”
the 2BR condos were great. Clean and comfortable. Staff very helpful and friendly. Great for a family or couples vacation.Certainly not the best of beaches but everything else was really nice. Played a ton of volleyball on the beach.
“Great Resort”
Great resort!! they staff are wonderful and try to assist with everything they can to make you more comfortable. They offer good suggestons on where to go locally for food and activities as well. The resort is very well maintained and the rooms are very spatious with a full kitchen. the resort is very large with 2 seperate phases with a large main pool, lap pool, kids pool and hot tub in each phase. The location on the beach os very beautiful as well. White sand and they sweep up the seaweed every morning so you can walk free on it in front of the resort. The beach area had some rocky areas in one phase that made it difficult and painful to enter but we just walked down the beach and found another area that was much better. The beach was not very deep near shore and most of our visit was very calm but did get quite rough during the last few days. With the surf and the rocks it was not a desirable swim area. The hot tubs are not hot, just a touch warmer than the pools with the exception on the lap pools, they were warm. The resort has a fantastic activity center for kids and activities around the resort are planned each day as well. It should also be noted that our ocean view room did not have a view of the ocean. If we left the room(on the ground floor) and walked to the very edge of the patio and looked left, we could see the ocean. It appeared to us that this was about the same as all rooms except the Ocean Front which are right on the beach facing the ocean.
“Enjoyed our Stay”
For a beautiful and quiet vacation, I would recommend Royal Haciendas. The staff were all very kind, the premises beautifully kept- everything was impeccable. The hotel key/charge card system works great! Nice to not have to carry money/wallet around. Pool towels, sunchairs, tennis raquets, snorkel gear, etc. were always available and at no extra charge. The small grocery store was useful. The food was not superb but was overall, very good. We went fishing one day and the chef preparred our catch for dinner that night- beautifully prepared- 4 different ways, and the charge was $10.00pp. Great!
“The Royal Treatment at the Royal Haciendas”
Yes, you too can totally relax without a care in the world! We stayed at this property (our first time in Playa) November 12th - 19th, 2011. Our suite was on the 4th Floor and was much more spacious than I expected. The partial ocean view spectacular from our lanai (in spanish?) had its own jacuzzi tub, WOW. The swim up bars... fabulous, the mojitos, the fish tacos... está buenisimo ! And the beach, wow the beach, every morning-every evening, deserved a walk on the beach, this one is very nice, not so much for snorkling, but for a dip or stroll, oh yes! The free shuttle in town (to Playa's famed 5th Ave) is a great deal - come home in a taxi if it's after 6:30, no problemo. The security is great, you never felt unsafe!! The grounds are lovely and well kept. The room service we used only once (after spending a long afternoon with the pool bartenders) and the Cheeseburger with fries, did the trick, very yummy. The grocery store on site, so convenient, we never had to go anywhere else for water, snaks, tequilla (the really good stuff), etc. The breakfast buffet was handy we'd go after our walk on the beach just about every morning, great made to order omlette, each day a little something different would appear, but the omlette station was a staple. Everyone is very helpful. We learned that this is a time share property but we really appreciated that we were not hassled, yet everyone went out of the way to make you feel extremely welcome. Go and enjoy!
“Great but not Fantasic”
Just like others wrote before me, the hotel was awesome, extremely clean and friendly. You could not have asked for anything else in our two room villa. Beware that they will want to put you in a first floor location, they did it to the guests before us, but we asked to placed on a higher floor and they accomodated us. The views were totally worth it. QUIET QUIET QUIET, we went the last week in January, it was dead at the hotel which if this is what you are looking for go there. Beach was BEAUTIFUL!! You could walk for miles and no vendors asking you to buy things, which was great! The town of Playa was great fun and we always felt safe. Taxi driver extremely friendly and never an issue coming or going into town which we did almost every nite. Overall, we had a great time and it was worth the money we paid on Expedia.
“Great resort”
I've never stayed in a "beach resort" before but it was great. You basically get an apartment without all the hotel fuss. The staff here are excellent - very pleasant and polite and always helpful. The rooms are clean and the communal areas are well looked after. The only downfall is that you have to get a taxi to Playa del Carmen. Would definitely recommend this place.
“Simply fabulous”
The hotel property was beautiful -- the pools were plentiful and clean. The beach was groomed. Umbrellas were plentiful to allow for people to have a break from the sun if they needed one. The villas were spacious - the pull down bed options worked really well for our family of 6. Being able to check out activity equipment without paying a fee was a big plus -- tennis rackets, kayaks, snorkeling gear. The seafood restaurant on site was a bit pricey so we didn't go there. The beachside restaurant had a different buffet every night. Didn't go - again, a bit pricey. Overall, the atmosphere was fantastic!
