“Perfect for family”
We had a great experience at Royal Haciendas. The hotel grounds and living spaces were impeccably maintained. The service personnel were helpful and friendly at all times. The pools were fantastic for our young children. We enjoyed the buffet meals at La Palapa regularly; in particular, the morning breakfast and the themed dinners were great (though a little expensive). There were many activities available for the kids and adults alike, and we enjoyed as many as we could. The resort was very friendly for our small children (1 year and 4 years). They provided a crib and a highchair for our unit, which was great. The crib was really made for a small infant, though, and our toddler was able to climb out. We would have brought a pack-n-play of our own if we would have realized that in advance. The on-site grocery store was very convenient if you didn't want to drive to the Walmart. This was a first-class place to stay !
“This is a time share not a hotel so you will have to change rooms every Saturday.”
This is a time-share not a hotel and unless you own your particular unit you will be required to move every Saturday. Because we checked in on a Sunday, we were assigned 3 different rooms for a 14 day stay and had to move twice! In addition, although we had booked an ocean view room on Expedia we were told by the desk that this is never a guarantee. The resort is outstanding in all ways but the Saturday move meant that we felt that we lost 1/2 day of vacation time every week. If your vacation is from Saturday to Saturday and you are prepared to accept whatever room is available you will not be disappointed. The rooms are beautiful, the grounds amazing, and the beach has the softest sand imaginable. Except for the Saturday moves, we loved this place.
“Royal Haciendas a Wonderful Destination!”
My husband and I stayed 5 nights at the Royal Haciendas, April 6-11. This was one of the most immaculate properties we have ever visited. We had a suite on the first level and the decor of the suite was very tastefully done. The granite couter tops were a nice touch as well as the hot tub on the patio. We arrived around 1 pm and were taken directly to our suite. I booked through Expedia and although this resort is a time share property they must book some rooms out to non members like us. Now a word about the time share: we had barely gotten into our room when we were called about attending an orientation. After politely saying "no". We were still called a couple more times. Not alot of pressure, you just need to be a little more firm. After we didn't show up for the orientation they pretty much left us alone. We ate at the larger palapa restuarant one night for the prime rib, it was pretty expensive and not the best I have ever had. We did eat at the smaller restaurants and ordered in from the express a couple nights, food good and prices fairly reasonable. The market had all the basic sundries and and food items we needed. We bought breakfast items there and had breakfast in every morning. The beach was very pretty, however right in front of the palapas there were a few rocky places, but not enough to hinder swimming. You can walk about 50-100 yards up the beach to a much better swimming area. This was a beautiful place and we will certainly visit again.
“Loved having a suite with a kitchen!”
We loved this hotel! We actually stayed one week through an Interval International exchange via and one night through Expedia. We loved having a kitchen to eat breakfast, lunch, and leftovers. The rooms are stunning and clean. The best was the hot tub on the balcony and table to eat outside. The pool is clean, warm, and beautiful. The beach was good but not great. No problem with chairs at either pool or beach and the beach is private. I would stay here again!
“Great place to stay”
This was a great place to stay in the Playa del Carmen area, very close to downtown and the resort itself is is fantastic. Great rooms, beach was very nice and the pools were excellent. Food at the resort was good, we went downtown every night for dinner and found some great restaurants in town. i would highly recommend this place to anyone.
“I would go back.”
wonderful hotel. everything was perfect. fine restaurants on the premises. very clean. well set up and organized. snorkelling on the coral reef of the hotel's beach was amazing - different corals and fish. don't even need to go in water over your head to see lots! taxi ride to town is a reasonable price. they have social activities, aerobics in the pool etc
“YEP, GOING BACK!”
What a fantastic resort. I have stayed at some very fine hotels and resorts, and this absolutely was up there. The beach was well groomed, with plenty of chairs. The pools were beautiful. The jacuzzi tub on the deck was a perfectd surprise (and romantic)!! Our suite had a full kitchen, and with the little grocery store on the grounds, it was a great way to have a breakfast in the room, or leftovers from the restaurants! Staff was friendly and full of smiles. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel/resort to anyone. Go, you will be glad you did!!
“Beautiful Time Share Resort”
My five-year-old and I spent a wonderful week at The Royal Haciendas. It is truly a beautiful resort. The entire resort sparkles, it's so clean! Our room was small, but nicely appointed, including a small kitchenette (microwave, coffee maker and small fridge). I particularly appreciated the sunken tub. We had a nice little deck with an ocean view. The resort has some gorgeous pools. We liked the pool that was nearest to the ocean. The resort is right on the ocean. There are adult and children activities Mon.-Fri. The activities staff is wonderful. They helped a great deal to make my son's trip memorable. There are some downsides to the resort, but none that would keep me from coming back. Here are a few: (1) The food is only so-so and is expensive. The best food we had was from the "Lapa Lapa Express" (basically like room service); (2) It's a time share, so be prepared for a sales pitch; (3) the "hot" tubs were mostly luke cool; (4) Although the resort is only about 20 minutes from downtown Playa, the last free shuttle leaves downtown at 6:00 p.m., meaning you must take a cab home. Also the free shuttle fills quickly, so it's necessary to reserve well in advance; and (5) When it's rainy, which it was for two days of our trip, there really isn't a whole lot to do, particularly for little ones.
“Great Sandy Beach in Playa”
Super beach, great service, and really clean. Hotel wait staff were excellent.
“The Royal Haciendas was great”
Our third trip to Playa del Carmen, and the best yet!
