“Wanted to stay longer”
Food was great in the Steakhouse, French, and Riviera Blue restaurants. The buffets had enough variety that eating there every breakfast wasn't bad. Room service was also very good. The only food that wasn't any good was the snack bar in the Plaza and the Italian buffet. The service in all of the bars and restaurants was excellant. We did have a Romance Package and you would have expected the robes, fruit basket, champaign, spa basket, etc. to all have arrived at the same time on the first or second day, but we started getting it on the second day after reminding them, and kept getting bits of it through the next few days. All in all we had a great stay. Stay away from the time share people, as they will eat up over a half of a day of your trip and pressure you into buying in. The head salesperson will even try to shame you into not buying, by saying that, "If you can't afford ...". He was a real cocky jerk
“Great Value”
Many choices for dining, swimming, relaxation. Friendly, attentive staff. We walked to all of the amenities, but transportation is available.
“Nice Resort Hotel”
This was the first time my husband and I had ever done the "all inclusive resort" package with a vacation. We were impressed with the Sandos, because we typically stay at budget chains here in the U.S. The jacuzzi tub in the room was very nice, big enough for two people. The staff was very polite and the grounds were lovely. The pool areas were very nice although we spent most of our time on the beach. There were ample beach lounge chairs and tiki umbrellas. The development that the resort is in (Playacar) was very nice and basically we felt like we were in a resort area in the U.S. practically with all the fancy cars and vacation homes. We walked into Playa a couple of times (about 1.5 to 2 miles) and felt perfectly safe. The shows they had at night were pretty cheesy, but who cares really? This place actually seemed very family friendly, there were tons of kids and lots of activities for them around the pool. A negative for me were the food, the quality was fair to poor in my opinion (even in the restaurants), however I think this may just be the way it is, as we ate out a couple of times and the food was also not good. Another negative was on one of our beach days they had a guy mc'ing out on the beach along with a DJ, I just found it annoying. I was just interested in laying on the beach, reading a book, staring out at the beautiful crystal blue water and relaxing. But generally speaking the resort was beautiful, service was great, and of course the beach was gorgeous.
“Great hotel, a little chatic at the beginning because they were newly opened, but stay was perfect”
Was there for 10 days and it was pure heaven. Clean, beautiful, food is good and many to choose from.. just perfect
“Great Hotel! Fun Family Vacation!”
We loved this resort! We went in July and it was the rainy season, but the rain would pour for about 10-20 mins and then it was sunny again, so we didn't mind. The beach was very nice with plenty of umbrellas and chairs each day, no matter what time we came. There were 3 large pools, one just outside our room with a volleyball net and a swim-up bar which was a lot of fun. The other guests we met were very nice too, which always helps. The staff was friendly and helpful. There were wild monkeys on the premises (adults and babies) and we were able to pet them and fed them a banana one morning. We also saw capybara roaming around, lots of iguanas and an interesting mexican raccoon! One caution: you might be approached to take the "official tour" of the resort. They will offer you a free week-long stay and other things to take the tour, but they won't tell you that the food is not included. The food at this all-inclusive per day is not cheap, so that free week is far from free and four hours into the 90 min tour, you will regret taking it. Plus the reason for the tour is that they, of course, want you to sign up for a time-share sort of arrangement. Other than that, we had tons of fun sea kayaking, swimming in the beautiful ocean, eating yummy foods, ordering frozen drinks, playing volleyball, walking into town (long walk, you'll need a cab ride back), watching fun shows on the premises at night, playing tennis and taking walks on the beach!
“This my second time in the past two years. Looking forward to the next year.”
Best location in playacar.
“Great resort - great location!”
Fantastic resort abundant with wildlife! Everything I rate a 5 star with the exeption of the beds and pillows... which were not comfortable.
“Cant wait to go back”
We stay Jan 11 thru Jan 16 , 2010 and it was amazing the staff was very friendly ! drinks were amazin! the italian rest was wonderful and that means alot to me cause im italian! the beds were hard but after a long day of having fun it didnt really matter how hard the bed was! i really loved the fact that they had golf carts to bring u back and fourth to the beach! my overall experiance was top notch! Also DONT BOOK A SHUTTLE IT IS SUPER EXPENSIVE TAKE A TAXI TO THE HOTEL IT IS CHEAPER AND FASTER!
“Great vacation. Cant wait to go back. Service and food was wonderful.”
Wonderful Hotel with excellent people working there. Food was great, choices of resturants was plentyful. Beach was clean and water was blue and clear. I recommend the Riveria side with the bigger rooms. Its alittle walk to the beach from there, but everythings only 10 minutes away. Plus theres a hotle shuttle you can take if you want. Well worth the trip to Mexico.
“Good location and nice hotel”
I read many, many reviews and they were mixed. I thought the food was very good because there was plenty of variety so you could find something good even if you were picky. There were bars located all over the resort so easy to get drinks. The location to town was great...$5 cab ride. Loved Playa compared to Cozumel and Cancun. We will go back!
