Adjacent to the Cozumel Island ferry terminal and one block from downtown Playa del Carmen, the Playacar Palace sits on the sparkling sands of the Caribbean Sea. In addition to a meandering oceanfront pool, guests have use of tennis courts and a fitness center at Playacar Spa & Golf Club. Ages 4–12 can join in arts and crafts and other supervised activities at the resort's kids club.
Dining options include casual buffets, Italian and Asian specialty restaurants, and 24-hour room service. Exchange privileges with several companion resorts include couples-only Sun Palace and adults-only (18 and over) Aventura Spa Palace. The resort provides complimentary scheduled transportation to Playacar Spa & Golf Club, Maroma Beach Club with complimentary kayaks (canoes), and Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort.

All guestrooms at Playacar Palace feature furnished balconies or terraces, and have ocean or city views. Set inside each room is a two-person spa tub. Separate bathrooms contain showers and Farouk bath amenities, and bathrobes and slippers are provided.
Also included are liquor dispensers and minibars with complimentary sodas, bottled water, and domestic beer.
Additional amenities include LCD TVs with satellite channels, complimentary wireless Internet access, direct-dial phones, safes, and air conditioning.

Recreation
The majority of recreational activities and facilities described below are included in the room rate for this resort (scroll up to the All-Inclusive details section for more information).
A large outdoor pool with swim-up bar meanders along the oceanfront and is surrounded by a large sundeck and lounge chairs that face the sea. Tennis courts and beach volleyball are also provided. Ages 4–12 have access to a complimentary kids club and a children's pool.
Guests can use complimentary kayaks (canoes) at Maroma Beach Club, 14.5 km (9 mi) away, as well as the fitness center at Playacar Spa & Golf Club, one km (0.5 mi) from the resort. For additional surcharges, guests can play Playacar's par-72, 18-hole championship course designed by Robert Von Hagge. Another option is the course at Moon Golf & Spa Resort.
Complimentary scheduled transportation is provided to Playacar Spa & Golf Club, Moon Golf & Spa Resort, and Maroma Beach Club. Guests also have access to snorkeling equipment (surcharge) at companion resort Cozumel Palace and to the beaches, swimming pools, and fitness facilities at several other companion resorts.
Other popular recreational activities include fishing excursions, scuba diving, horse riding, and parasailing (surcharges for all). The resort can assist with arrangements.

“Would love to make this a yearly trip!!!”
This was the most amazing place I've stayed. I felt as though I was a VIP (which I was not) from the moment I stepped onto the grounds. I don't think I ever saw a single employee without a smile on their face or willing to help. I'd never had a stay with an all inclusive package and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The staff worked hard to keep the place looking beautiful throughout the week. Staff also did a great job to make sure that guests were enjoying themselves by getting us involved in certain games and other activities. The rooms were in great condition and very comfortable. I appreciated the room service and other amenities that were included with our room. My only complaint about the rooms were that the balconies were a little small in some of the rooms. I rarely spent time on ours though because the pool and beach were so close. The food in the Italian restaurant was fantastic. I never ate in the Oriental restaurant. The food in the main buffet was good. I've had better, but I've also had much worse. It was really great when I ordered specifics at the grill though. The room service made food available at all times since the restaurant was closed during certain hours (noon to 12:30 at least). We took advantage of the Spa, golf, Tulum, and swimming with dolphin adventures and enjoyed all them. Great service everywhere we spent time. I highly recommend this location.
“Loved the Playacar Palace! Location, Location, Location”
We loved the Playacar Palace. We stayed on the 5th floor and had an awesome view. I don't think I would do the conceirge level again. I actually thought we have rec'd better in room service in the past with a standard ocean view room. We only rec'd turn down service once during our week stay and we never rec'd a petit four which was suppose to be nightly. They have a great beach, a wonderful location next to the ferry and 5th ave. In room whirlpools and mini bars are always a plus. The hotel staff is awesome!! They became our friends during the week. They are all so much fun and really nice people who provide great service. The Itallian restuarant was really good. I think they could improve their restaurant service by adding more choices and maybe a mexican restaurant. We would highly recommend this hotel!!
“Loved Playacar Palace!”
Cannot say enough about my stay here. The employees were all so fun, friendly & professional, service was outstanding, pool and beach were well-maintained and not too crowded at all. No screaming kids, if any. No idiots making a scene at the pool. As far as food, I only ate at the International Buffet but they had plenty of choices and it was good. We ordered room service one night and it was good, too. Some of the folks in my party went to the Asian restaurant and they were disappointed, but I had read that before I went and did not make plans to eat there in the first place. The rooms are very serene, clean and peaceful. We stayed on the south side of the resort and you could not hear ANYTHING at night. No doors slamming, toilets flushing, people talking - nothing. If I visit Playa del Carmen again I would stay here again in a heartbeat!
“Great Place”
Just got back from 10-day stay. Great staff, food, and location to downtown and ferry to Cozumel. Only downside was a very slick pool deck w/ wet feet.
“The beach”
The only downside, is that there is virtually no beachfront, you would have to wal a little bit to go to the beach or take the ferry acrross to Cozumel and you will have access to the other palace resort to the pool,towels, the beach and all the food and drink you can handle.
“Playacar Palace was great, we'll go back someday”
This was our first experience at an all inclusive and we were not disappointed. I took my parents and sister (and her husband) to this place and we got spectacular rooms on the 4th floor overlooking the ocean. The double jacuzzi was a blast (open the sliding door for an ocean breeze and then jump in with your significant other). We WILL stay here again someday. The only negative I can think of is that some of the food was really too salty. But they had a good variety so I could stay away from ones I knew were like this. The other minor negative was Chaza travel (they have a booth at the hotel), for whatever reason nothing we did through them was seamless.
“Great Honeymoon!”
The service is great at the playacar palace. The food at the two sit down restaurants were great--the buffet could use a little work. They had great entertainment at night and during the day at the pool. Our favorite part of the hotel is the location! you can go into town, take the ferry to Cozumel or just hang out on the AWESOME BEACH! It was a great way to spend a Honeymoon. We upgraded to a bigger room--worth it! first floor and close to the pool. The people are very friendly and I would go back anytime! This is the way to go--we went out to eat a few times and the restaurants around there are very expensive! ALSO WE FELT VERY SAFE DOWN THERE! Pass on the word and go to Mexico!
“Awesome Playa Experience”
At check in we were presented with a cold towel and a glass of champagne as the staff walked us through the various activities and tours as well as the grounds of the hotel. The room was cleaned daily and the grounds of the hotel were constantly being cleaned. Liquor was good and the variety offered was excellent. Both the Japanese and Italian restaurants were very good and offered very attentive service and great menus. The free tours that we joined were also wonderful with knowledgable guides who were very thorough. The location of the hotel is directly off of the main street (5th ave.) in Playa which made for spectacular walks everyday both on the beach and for shopping. Overall very relaxing and fulfilling experience.
“Can't wait to go back!”
We celebrated our honeymoon at Playacar Palace...talk about very nice and romantic!!! Loved the hotel, the food, the staff. The pool is beautiful. There isn't much of a beach, but the nearest one is within walking distance. They just two blocks from 5th Avenue. Will defenitely go back!
