“Great location for the price!”

This hotel was on a great location - right on the beach and right near the bar strip and major clubs. We had a room on the 3rd floor, with a large balcony overlooking the water. The room has a kitchen, large bed, tv, nice bathroom, etc. Overall, a nice accommodation and location!

“Very Nice and Friendly Employees---really ENJOYED our stay!”

We had a small issue with the toilet not flushing properly--We let the office know within 5 min--we heard a knock on our door and it was taken care of! That was great service! The grounds area around the hotel was always nice and clean. We would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a smaller more quaint hotel.

“Delightful with one exception....”

We enjoyed our stay here, the staff were accomodating and friendly. The setting adorable, great location, very quaint. The major drawback is that there is a nightclub located next door that is extremely loud until 2:00 a.,m. If you are going to party, you will love it! If you are going for R & R, best to pick a more restful night time location.

“Great location...”

The Playa Palms is a very charming little boutique hotel although you should request to be on the 2nd floor or above and on the south side of the hotel. There is some construction going on the north side of the hotel where they are building some new condos so it's loud in the morning especially on the street side of the hotel!! We asked to be moved and after the first night, they worked with us and moved us closer to the ocean side on the second floor (still the south side) but still much quiter than our first room. Very nice girl at the front desk...her English is a little compromised but she tries!! Only thing about the beach here is it's a little rocky...unlike a little further south of town. The location is perfect for eating in town...try Babe's Thai place and Chicago's for dinner. Both are great. And for breakfast, we enjoyed the little bar/restuarant just south of the hotel which had good food and great prices...enjoy your trip!!

“Recommend except for the unexpected beach construction which blocked beach access.”

The rooms were lovely and maid service outstanding. Very nice atmosphere. Major problem was there was beach construction during our entire stay and no beach access. This was a major disappointment, but the staff supplied passess for a beach club about 1 mile north of the hotel. Another problem was that we were told at check-in that they would do currency exchange, but that they had none till the next morning. The next day we were put off again and later that day I was told by another desk person that the hotel does NOT do currency exchange. So different information given by different employees which causes confusion to the guest. I do think that any hotel should provide currency exchange to their guests always!

“Playa del Carmen in January”

Hotel staff was great, very accommodating and polite. We didn't use the pool, water was very cold. The beach was wonderful and included food and drink service from the bar next door. Rooms were neat and were cleaned regularly. Noise was a problem late at night when our neighbors decided to cause a ruckus.

“Comfortable hotel in convenient area”

Nice hotel in convenient location. Can be a little loud since it's near all the bars.

“Just OK”

This could be a nice place right on the beach. Most of the staff was great with the exception of one. The hotel is pretty nice and neat but if you have a first floor room cockroaches come up through the drain. Didn't have this problem when we moved to 2nd floor room. The beach in front of the hotel is very nice and has a webcam so you can wave at your friends back home. Unfortunately the ridiculous club next door pounds bass for most of the day. There never seemed to be more than 10 people at this club but the music was cranked to 11. They were annoying more people than they were entertaining. This would be a good location if the club ceased to exist.

“Good hotel, but too noisy for us”

Nice hotel, excellent staff, but loud nightclub next door! Music blaring until 4:00 in the morning!

“good but beware”

Loved the hotel - the people, but the noise from the adjacent nightclub was horrendous!!! fyi> the party starts early and doesn't end until after 7:00AM!! its located next to a nightclub ......we listened to it all night and and there were many drunken people (legless) on the beach in front of the hotel, there - nobody got rid of them until later in the day it was pretty bad. ALSO didn't really like the fact that the guy who puts out the beach chairs doesn't really clean up the beach after the drunken night or that we feel the comfort of his presence......overall great place, but beware of when you go!!!
