“A Great Place to Stay”
The Hotel was GREAT!! Would recommend it to anyone who doesn't want the hassle of an all-inclusive. We were right downtown where all the action is. The staff was very attentive at all times. We stayed in the rooms on the roof--Great View. Will go back in a heart-beat
“excelent service”
It's a beatiful and small hotel. the service was excelent and I want to go again.
“Very impressed”
Hotel staff were gracious, helpful, and just simply nice; the proximity to the beach was ideal; the hotel room was lovely and very clean; the adjoining restaurant served food which was very good and reasonably priced; overall, great value for your money.
“Excellent hotel... grat location...”
We booked a standard room and it was more than standard... it was big enough to make a party... excellent place to stay and conveniently located half a block from 5th avenue and half a block of the beach... moderately price... great value!!!
“Small and Friendly”
Excellent small hotel. Location extremely good - just off 5th Ave but very quiet. Staff friendly and helpful. Currently a lift is being installed. Very near the beach. Short walk to the bus station where you can get local buses to various locations. Loads of choice of restaurants, bars and shopping. People very friendly - they all want you to go into their shop! - but do not hassle you.
“great location for an excellent price”
found this hotel through expedia and booked it for a long weekend stay. the location is amazing - only half a block from the beach. they have a friendly staff with one exception. the first attendant i was in contact w/ when checking in was a little short and/or distracted and i had to return to the front desk a few times to ask questions. otherwise, had a great stay in the clean and spacious room i booked. word to the wise - the sign outside the hotel doesn't say ILLUSION BOUTIQUE HOTEL. instead the awning and signs outside display the name of the hotel corp. XPERIENCE. i walked by the place several times before realizing this was the location of the hotel.
“Can't wait to return!”
The hotel is quaint, quiet, simple, and very clean. The hotel staff is what sets it apart from others in the area. We were treated like royalty, given excellent service and suggestions on what to do, and everyone was just very friendly and nice. The hotel is in between the ocean and the main strip of shops restaurants, just in the right place to be able to walk to all of the restaurants but far enough away to not be bothered by street noise. Every meal we ate was delicious, and the service better than any we've had anywhere. On our next trip we will stay on the top floor with the pool terrace/ocean view, and we will skip Chitzen Itza. It is a 7 hour drive there and back, very hot, very humid, and crowded. We'll see Tulum and Xel Ha again. Cozumel is beautiful, when you get off the ferry take a taxi to Playa Azul for the day. It is front of a hotel, and it was the quietest, least crowded, most beautiful beach we went to. We're already planning our next trip and plan to stay here again!
“Amazing hotel !”
We love this hotel. so charming and such a nice and helpful staff. every day you have a new display of towels. At the check in, they gave you a freezing towel to cool down and a glass of water. there is a nice patio where you can take your breakfast. and the rooftop is nice with the swimming pool (very small but we didn't care we were close of the beach). Very good location. We recommend !!!!
“Location Location Location”
Great central location few steps from the beach, very helpful staff, nice extras like water cooler and complimentary coffee/tea in the lobby. Free WiFi and internet connected PC, complimentary beach towels on request . Those little things really add to a good impression. I will be recommending the hotel to all friends and will definitely use it again if in Playa.
“It was ok, but not the best. Probably could find better.”
The staff were really friendly and helpful and hotel in general was nice. When we got there, our room was not ready for us b/c of some piping or plumbing gone bad. They accommodated us w/a better room instead; a luxury suite. The water went out one night, the electricity went out the next night. The "continental breakfast" consistented of only toast w/butter and jam with some juice. There was also construction going on in the lobby. The water from the bathrm sink smelled terrible and the bed linens felt tacky and moldy b/c of the humidity. The food in the connecting restaurant is not recommended. There are way better restaurants all around that area that will and can accommodate your taste buds.
