“Pampered luxury in the Mayan Riviera”
We spent three days of our honeymoon at the Iberostar Grand in Playa Paraiso. It was wonderful, we wish we could've spent three more! or a week more :) a lifetime. The service was wonderful. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We only ate at two of the restaurants (the gourmet and the surf and turf) both were yummy but the surf and turf was the better of the two. The waiters took a care to learn names, drinks were plentiful and were at our fingertips pretty much the whole time we were there. The buffets were good, the breakfast better than the lunch. But at lunch they always served a special dish for at least an hour or two of the afternoon (one day it was paella that our pool waiter brought right to us poolside with a round of drinks and one day it was street tacos) and both of those were delicious. Perhaps the best meals of the week. The shows at ten pm nightly were fun and entertaining. The musical one was my favorite of the two we saw (the other was a pre-hispanic music show, also very good quality for a resort). It really was a relaxing, wonderful and fun experience. The room view was pretty spectacular and the butler service is wonderful. You can pretty much ask for anything from them and they'll bring it to you or do it for you (Bubble bath drawn and champagne chilling? DONE!). HIGHLY recommend this resort.
“I can see why this hotel has a 5 star rating.”
The employees are very courteous and helpful. The site was immaculate and the grounds were well maintained. In addition the golf course is of tournament quality. My wife and I loved it and plan on coming back to the Iberostar Grande Hotel.
“Top notch”
Best service around. Ocean front room was amazing.
“Amazing Resort”
The Iberostar Grand Paraiso was excellent. The employees could not have been more friendly and willing to help you. The only drawback was trying to make reservations at the specialty restaurants. We were not able to get to eat at any of the specialty restaurants in our hotel. We were told they were booked. We ended up at the buffets in our resort and one of the specialty restaurants and another of the Iberostar hotels on the property.
“Unexpected restaurant closures impacted our stay”
Overall, there's nothing not to like about this property. The grounds are always clean and well maintained. The rooms are always cleaned to our satisfaction. Be aware that in our experiences over the past three visits, there is no difference in the room size between the regular run of the house rooms and the ocean front rooms. Of course, the ocean front rooms hold a premium location. The pools are all beautiful and during this visit, there were ample chairs, etc. for everyone who wanted one. Our main disappointment was in the food area. First, because of the obvious lack of guests, the hotel had closed at least three or more of their al-a-cart restaurants on a daily basis, therefore limiting our choices of where to eat each evening. This practice should have been disclosed far before we arrived and should be noted on their web site for future guests. Our dining choices were not what we expected. Secondly, the actual quality and selection of food we had experienced on our prior visits has deteriorated. Again, this seems to be another cost cutting measure by hotel management. Another benefit of the hotel's location is that you can roam all around the other three connected properties and have full dining privilges at any of the other three properties. I must say that management was very sensitive to our dining issues and even offered us a special free romantic dinner for us on my wife's birthday and sent special amenities to our room as well.
“This Hotel is EXCELLENT!!”
My husband and I fell in love with this resort. Things couldn't be more perfect! Although we were there during 4th of July weekend, we were suprised it wasnt crowded. Excelent service, excelent food at the specialty restaurants, Surf and Turf is highly recommended! We were only there for 4 nights, and made the mistake of going to specialty restaurants at the other Iberostar hotels, for which you have access when you stay at the Grand, but NOTHING is like the speciality restaurants at the Grand. Don't waste your time trying the others! Staff was super friendly, always eager to please and this hotel is the eternal land of YES(within reason)! Out of all the IberoStar resorts, they have the best service, best liquor, best food...hands down! We felt we we're being spoiled rotten. Came back home and missed the treatment we were getting from the staff. Very impressed with entertainment staff who strive to get to know their guests and will learn your name after the first introduction! Amazing!! Great location from main Playa Del Carmen road, no having to travel through swamps to get there. Maybe 20 min away from the airport if you're not in a shuttle dropping off people before you. The Grand has a shuttle which can take you to Playa Del Carmen town if you wish to go. If you need to, they will take you all over the complex on golf carts. Definelty, as a Grand guest, you will have access to services the other Iberostar guests don't have! Will surely come back! Adults only though! :)
“Grand”
Everything you could want in an all inclusive hotel. Great food, great service, great people. I have never been to a place where everyone there really wants to make your stay the best it could be. When I say everyone, I mean even the gardeners. Golf course is beautiful. I would live in this place if I could.
“Great Vacation”
Thoroughly enjoyed the Iberostar Grand. Conceirge Frederico was fantastic. Hotel highly recommended.
“amazing vacation and 10 yr. anniv trip!”
We've been home a day now and all I can think about is what would we be doing if we were still there. I hated having to wash the smell of the Caribbean beach out of my swimsuit. The hotel made this trip SO memorable! We've seen others along the beach and this one by far is the best!!! The food was truly 5 star. Even the food they served near the pool was delicious! I loved doing the activities like air gun, archery, yoga, pool games and the bike tour. The "star friends" were SO much fun. They remembered our name after meeting only once. The evening entertainment was fabulous as well. No complaints!!!
“Loved it and would go back in a second!! Top Notch all the way!”
Well where do I start to describe how great everything was?! Let's just say besides the resort being beautiful from the room, to the grounds, to the pool, to the beach, the lovely spa & gym, the wonderful restaraunts...the food was FANTASTIC....Filet & Lobster every day, the Japanese restaraunt was to die for!! The drinks where top shelf and STRONG (I think my party was ordering doubles & triples the whole time! lol) A serious detox was in order after the trip was over. hee hee. The customer service here exceeded my expectations and then some! I come from the service industry so I know what I'm talking about here people and this is a stop that should NOT be missed! The employees here are wonderful and go well out of their way to make sure everything is perfect and that you are enjoying your stay as well as having FUN! They had activities happening every day from beach volleyball, water basketball, water aerobics, crazy games, and nightly entertainment shows that were great!! If you reading this, read no more..Go ahead and book the trip...you won't be sorry!!
